It actually DOES offend people. Try not being so ignorant. As an atheist, I do not have a biased opinion on this, but LOTS of things can offend people, you can't even tell whether it's offensive or not. I recommend you change it.
I'm not offended by it, of course. I don't understand how it could be offensive either, but still.
On-Topic: It would just be easier to make an actual golden apple lol.

Don't you just love trolls? They make forums so hilarious at their horrible attempts to offend people over the internet. Oh and btw, great mod!

Do you even know what a troll is?

posted a message on Mo' Creatures - v12.0.0 for Minecraft 1.12.1!! Now Opensource!!
Wow this thread has gotten huge... :biggrin.gif:

You should add in a combat modifier so that when movement speed is over 1.0 your speed affects the damage of a strike (and equally affects the item's remaining uses) on a modifier based on your speed. This would give much more utility to the horses, making cavalry more possible. Making them put their heads down in a charge and adding a lance type item that reached out several more blocks (or perhaps had its range modified by speed as well, this would make sense with all weapons because the weapon travels through a greater distance during a real attack rather than hitting immediately) and did moderate damage while standing still or moving on foot but had a much higher combat movement damage modifier so that it could be used for destroying armored enemies from a mounted position would be even better.

    Something like this...

    [] [] :|:
    [] :|: []
    :|: [] []

    +

    [] :Iron: []
    [] :Iron: []
    [] :Iron: []

= a lance, with the iron being the weighted handle and the three sticks making a pole. The standard lance should kill most anything short of a super mob in one strike from a full charge on a fast horse, and it should reach a good ways (I think 4m was about standard for the things, but perhaps it could be bumped up to 5 or 6 since all the minecraft weapons have pretty ridiculous range), but should break the pole section on one use leaving a handle section in your inventory. Poles would be stackable (handles and full lances not) and you could get a lance in the 2x2 grid by combining the two sections. Handles too would break eventually. A neat additional feature would be if the lance left a visible broken pole in the target (if it didn't kill it, or you had a mod that leaves bodies in place) like with an arrow, but with a modified model maybe (longer shaft or just no fletching, but just the standard arrow model would work).

It would do very very little damage on foot, half a heart maybe, though it would be cool if you could have it increase damage based on the speed of the enemy on foot (so if you have a charging mob that does more than the standard 1 move speed or does a knockback charge attack where it never slows down (would be cool for some future mobs) it could serve as a pike). Mainly though its purpose would be to give the horses more utility in combat, and the pike's secondary to giving weapons increased damage based on how fast your horse is going (or you if, say, you fall from a long distance during your attack and swing at the enemy while you're moving fast in the air) and maybe some increased range, as well as making it easier to not hit the horse (is it possible to increase the view point's height, or to make the horse head drop down lower during a gallop?). One more truly awesome feature though would be able to hold and right click the lance and get a target circle instead of the crosshair, the lance 'coming up' so that whenever anything comes within the aiming range in that circle it will attack, or simply holding right and whenever anything gets in range under the crosshairs it will. This would not be overpowered imo because thats how you use a lance anyway, and it breaks after one use (so no just riding through a group of mobs with autofire swings).

Anyway sorry for the long post, but its just something I've had stuck in my mind, how much more awesome the horses would be if MC calculated damage based on the velocity of the blade, and I don't think that bit at least is too complicated (though maybe to get it to report on the current speed rather than the maximum possible speed for the attack would be?).

Anyway still loving this mod. It's one of the ones I won't do w/o, if something's not compatible with mo then I don't play it :Diamond: :Diamond: :Diamond:

Looks nice. I was just going to say if you wanted to give salt a more 'realistic' or at least appropriate application you could make it so that salted food items could be stacked, in compensation for the fact that there is no food decay in MC. So for instance salted pork could do the same (or more if you still wanted it, or maybe even a little less) health repair but you could stack up to four or five (or whatever you thought was good for balance) in your inventory. Same for any other salted meats, for things like bread it could still just add to their total heal. You'd still have to take it off of the stack to use it ofc.

posted a message on Bukkit API/Mod Legal Issues
Don't worry, all the crazy server raiding SWAT teams are tied up trying to bust potheads, sites and message boards on cannabis cultivation, seed selling sites, etc. They're trying to get as many of the tens of billions of dollars of our domestic pot industry into gov't coffers each year as they can without actually making it legal or taxing it. Having your cake and eating it too is hard work.

As to notch busting down on modders, he's obviously got something against them. I mean, you can just tell it in the tone of a lot of his comments, its almost like he's offended. But just as obviously he's not striking out, because MC is as popular as it is because of modders. You cut the modding support and this is still a very feature-light beta, and a lot less people would have bought it this early on. You cut it in the future and a lot less people will buy it then. No matter how good a developer is there is endlessly more talent concentrated in his fanbase unless he has a very tiny fanbase indeed, because game designers and programmers and the like tend to play games, and most people who've been doing pc gaming for any time have at least some modding experience. All those trickles add up, not to mention the fact that there are probably a ton of professional programmers playing this game some of whom are modding too who are contributing a hell of a lot more than a trickle :biggrin.gif:

Basically, Notch isn't Metallica. Not to mention people modding is nothing like people stealing the **** directly, which plenty of folks are doing for MC. If he wants to go after ANYONE I imagine it will be the countless thousands actually uploading his game to sites like piratebay and the like. If he actually went after modders in any big way, especially the makers and users of a major server plugin that such a large percentage of people use, his revenue stream would do a vanishing act. MC isn't big enough yet to really tap into the massive funds provided by uneducated gamers to first-party titles by flashing advertising in gaming mags, sites, commercials, etc. Plus, those countless illiterate millions mostly buy games on which one has the flashiest textures and the most advertising money, and that's definitely not MC. No, it's getting pushed along because it has a huge dedicated community that's pimping it shamelessly everywhere they go, and most of that community would drop it like it had the clap if Notch went after modders, what would be the point any more?

I mean, don't get me wrong, MC will have a lot more fun packed into it than the average singleplayer or cooperative release, but the competitive multiplayer is heavily weak unmodded, too laggy and simple, and 'a lot more funpacked' still means it'll get boring damn quick like any other game you can't mod, because the developers can only profitably pack in so much content whereas the modders are just doing it for fun and will keep on doing it until a better platform comes out.

But all of that doesn't really change your decision. Obviously it's against the law, like pretty much everything you do in America is. I mean, hell, chances are if you did your girl in anything other than missionary position last night you broke the law in half our states. I think everyone realizes that the laws of the US and most every other nation on Earth are, however, an irrelevant joke that has nothing to do with the concepts of right and wrong, just as it being illegal to mod a game which almost noone plays unmodded is a joke. We pick and choose which silly rules we follow based on fear, not morality, so I suppose you've gotta decide how likely you really think it is someone will bust your server. Unless you've got a ton of assets or your server farm is tied to some type of assets the gov't can legally steal I wouldn't be too worried b/c I don't think Notch is a d-bag and I don't think he's gonna sick the goons on you for trying to make your server playable in the absence of native code to achieve that state.

Looks good, if you can pull it off. I've yet to see a really big mob in this game that looked good, though obviously having it (mostly?) in the sky solves a lot of the issues. If it is going to come down to ground though and it's very large it's going to look bad on slopes unless you can make the different bits of its body stick to different levels of the ground, or maybe if it just stands up on those two legs? Also just a personal pet peeve for me, it should destroy at least leaf blocks in its path, preferably more similarly weak blocks as well.

And if it could tear into the house to get someone trying to hide from it, or knock a hold in and then fill it with fire... :Pig: :Bacon:

Tbh, to show that the Ragdolls are TRULY ragdollish, you should show a skele hanging over a block. :ohmy.gif: That'd be awesome. Because, as far as I can see, all we get to see is a creeper's head turned to the side, and a sheep that looks SLIGHTLY crooked, and purple fire. :Diamond:

We never said we had the ragdolls figured out. Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit i forgot to get on the irc today.

Ahhh, I see. I misunderstood then. Sorry.

Plus that's about what you'll see. Legs and heads skewed, there are only so many boxes. Maybe animals like the new wolfs with torso divisions will look better with it, but just seeing the limbs flapping around will be nice.

I love the idea of this because I have had the idea of a MC superhero mod stuck in my head for a while. But that's beside the point. Some random ideas, though...

Since you're leaving bodies, would it be possible to change drops so that you harvest the corpse rather than getting random stuff dropping on the ground? Less items out might help lag too. Maybe this could be an option (if you turn it on you right click a body with an empty hand to get the drops, if its off then stuff drops like normal).

Would it be possible to make ragdolls do damage? For instance if you're thrown by an explosion you might destroy the blocks you're hitting depending on your speed. Getting knocked at decent speed might allow you to tear through some leaf blocks, high speed for things like plank, glass, cotton, maybe even timber. If someone managed to accelerate a ragdoll up to high enough speed they might throw it through tougher materials. This could be done w/ something like mo creatures ogres I guess (causing blocks to turn into tnt and immediately explode right? I think that's how he does it) the only problem would be that things wouldn't carry through, just leave the impact craters and bounce off. It would still look pretty ridiculously epic when you were taking turns launching each other through a target building with a big cannon :biggrin.gif:

Ragdoll's going to be on whenever you're going through the air right? If so then yes grabs and throws at least would be pretty awesome additions to combat. They should be balanced of course (say if the enemy attacks during the quarter or half second windup of the grab it knocks you back) but it would be pretty awesome to throw people off ledges and such.

Lol I really need to learn Java it seems like every mod I see could be a great or even absolutely necessary addition to that superhero mod I keep thinking of :biggrin.gif: Ragdoll physics, automatic city generators, all kinds of NPCs and monsters, lasers and attacks that tear through walls and climbing and grappling hooks and super speed and jump and... lol, MC is just made for that mod. And this mod, too, will be ridiculously awesome; to the idea of people complaining because you made it too gory and awesome I say :SSSS: :SSSS: :SSSS: them :biggrin.gif: Just make the 'brutal' bits like choking people and smashing them into walls and tossing them off of ledges a separate Ragdoll Combat Mod to supplement the Ragdoll Physics mod, with the option of downloading them both in one pack for consenting adults. :Pig:

The whole point of Minecraft is to do whatever you want in it, if he wants to recreate HL2 that sounds like a cool goal to me. Trying to restrict gameplay to your own perspective is the antithesis of everything the game is about.

hes wanting mods to make it like half life 2
the whole point of the game isn't to mod the **** out of it to make it into a game its not...

Wow, you obviously don't understand **** about videogames. Lemme guess, you started out on consoles, that was your first gaming experience, you're used to your game developers raping you, whatever. Hello, pwned, welcome to the world of PC gaming. In this world we don't let games get stale after a couple of weeks and we don't let a company make millions of dollars per map on something they paid some dude a bit over minimum wage for a couple of days to do (dlc maps). We mod, we mod to our heart's content because usually there's a really good innovative game with a unique engine in the shooter genre every couple of years, which gives just enough time to develop a great new library of mods for the last one before the new one comes around. We mod because it makes sense, and because the developers who haven't sold their souls to games for windows live actually give us options so we'll get more enjoyment out of their game and hopefully stick with their company. They can't all afford to buy reputations by blaring imagery on major television channels in front of millions of console kids so they actually try to... you know, make good games? And any good shooter or really multiplayer game period needs one thing, moddability. Because otherwise the developer either has to keep wasting time making new maps and items and such and he STILL can't possibly manage to match the sheer flow of new content from the modding community which is needed to keep things fresh or the game's boring quick.

Btw, check out the forum you're in. Any good game is really just a platform for modders - the halflife series, the PC battlefields (the ones that didn't suck), the earlier quake series (the ones that didn't suck again), doom, unreal tournament (you know, that engine that all your console games use? Every single one of them, yeah, that engine got famous as being absolutely nothing but a blank canvas for modders, that was the whole point of unreal games, so... yeah), etc, all of them were heavy on mods, total conversions, and had HUNDREDS or thousands of quality maps, probably millions of maps period. If a game doesn't have modders, at least in the shooter/first person arena, that's either because it's junk and it's not worth using as a modding platform or the devs are dicks who are milking their customers for every dime by releasing a pos game like, say, a cod pc title with their own crappy xbox live on pc to try and block modding so they can sell a new game to you every year like madden. Because with mods games can be entertaining for more than a year (ooooh) for reasons other than trying to get to the top of leaderboards or get some laughably pathetic "prestige" tab.

So, yeah, welcome to PC gaming. We mod 'round here. We'll keep doing like we've been doing since before those virulent consoles ever injected their poison into online gaming. :iapprove: :iapprove: :iapprove:

And excellent idea for the mod, op. Looking forward to seeing how you do w/ it.

Your a fool and a jerk.

    1) Do you have a life? Why waste your time making a new forum on this!!? Are you this annoyed about having to pay 1 STINKING DOLLAR ON A VIDEO GAME??!?!? Seriously! Your waste your time making a forum against having to pay 1 dollar on a video game?

    2) BE CONSIDERATE. Kane and his team are WORKING hard on this mod, harder then you can imagine. THINK OF OTHERS. Spend a damn dollar!!! Or dont spend it, he aint forcing ya! You are so selfish you cant buy a cup of coffee for someone who is doing something for YOU. And please dont go all "BUT ITS A MOD, WE SHOULDNT HAVE TO PAY" He has plans for this mod and he needs money to fulfill his dreams and to motivate his team, and again I must point this out ITS ONE FREAKING DOLLAR. Are people really getting THIS pathetic??

    3) Things dont always go your way in life. Sometimes you must learn to live with it and forget it. Exspecially something as small as this.

EDIT: He is going to allow people to make maps and share them. All you have to do is pay a small fine to support his team, after all he is doing this for YOU. And wait. That's it Patience is A Virtue.

Mod edit: Don't hate. Insults aren't necessary. Discussion is fine, but don't insult.

    Tool

Seriously, what a fanboi tool, this made my day.

Are there actually idiots out there paying for DLC for a MOD!? Are you shitting me? I mean, lets get past the fact that it outright says that's illegal in the EULA, but how dumb are people? Donating is one thing, even buying the mod (even though it'd be just as illegal for them to sell the whole project) but paying for DLC? DLC was always a joke, are you console kiddies really that dumb? It was always a ripoff, all those horrible console shooters like cod charging you for maps because they specifically designed the consoles so that the thousands of skilled mappers out there couldn't give it to you for free. New maps have been free forever, even when the developers were making them, because they're so ridiculously easy to do (easier on MC obviously, but easy in other games as well, the kinda stuff you can pick up within a solid day of watching tutorials on most games max) and besides mappers get paid like minimum wage, it's barely skilled labor. Then they got the consoles and there was NO way to get new maps so the games would have gotten boring after a couple of weeks (especially since they're retreads of games that came out on the PC a decade ago) so people had no choice really but to buy the pitiful stream of maps they put out at outrageous inflated prices, and IW made millions for what took some minimum wage flunky a day to do.

Seriously, and people are paying for maps on the pc. For MINECRAFT? Really?

I fully support the efforts of whoever this pissed off dude at the start of the post is. Oh, and to the guy I quoted, I watched a little video of this mod and I noticed that your talk about dreams and motivating the team was ripped straight out of the project lead's video, that's a nice fanboi touch. Anyway, though nazi zombies was a pathetic joke that was little more than finding a couple of good spots you'd sit in the whole map, even though it's an absolute travesty to call it a zombie game and its basically a turd of a serious sam clone with only a couple monsters, I support ripping these people off because people who sell maps are douches. ESPECIALLY when you try to get away with it on PC, and to a whole new LEVEL when you do it for a MOD of a PC game.

I mean, really, is anyone at all going to pay for this? Even if I loved their ripoff of a crappy enemy grind mode from the lesser of two developers working on a derivative quake 3 mod turned into a massive overhyped spectacle for uneducated people new to the gaming world I would pirate their maps after they tried to sell them. I would learn to code in minecraft just to get around whatever it is they use to try to block people from making their own maps so they can sell theirs. Because that is just the most d-baggy thing I've ever seen.

Perhaps its just my hate of console gaming and all things cod, and all people impressed by them, but this one just really gave me a lol. At least if you're going to try something so ballsy as to charge for maps make it a good zombie game with actual zombies and actual survival horror, not this joke. And if you're going to do a simple swarm game like this why in the WORLD would you clone crap like nazi zombies when you could copy an ACTUAL quality example of the genre like serious sam?

I hope they get sued for breaching the EULA. :iapprove: They're stealing his code for profit, that's why you do DONATIONS. If you don't want to have to put up with the infrequency and hassle of donations then you should try to LICENSE the engine, not just rip it off for profit. How many of these thousands of dukey console shooters that all used one version or another of the unreal engine (they're all basically unreal engine for-profit mods, in other words)(All as in, like, every console shooter that you pay $60 for because they're so hard to develop even though they're not even building their own engines :Pig:) do you think just released their products and crossed their fingers and hoped that Epic wouldn't sue them?

EDIT: NM I saw the mod post above that they're allowed to. Minecraft must have the friendliest EULA ever. Its still theft but I suppose despite his surprisingly anti-mod attitude Notch doesn't mind as long as there's a bit of thievery involved :smile.gif: Still pretty gay, bringing more of that crap to the PC, you're as bad as games for windows live.
