So you said soldiers will die...

How long should 150,000 Knights and 100,000 Skilled Knights last?

    :}

    A while, haha!

But there will be a point were Chikolio will reproduce troops so fast that you'll need more than that.

Tell me how it goes! :)

    New update

After choosing to be business partners with Don Chikolio, you purchase the "Part Ways" upgrade.
Your soldiers will now die in Battle with Chikolio
After every attack by Don Chikolio, the rate he produces soldiers increases.
Automining no longer displays ores mined or ores in your vault (page will stop randomally moving now).
    New upgrade "Increased Attack"

Maybe add..Thief, like an Enderman, you can get rid of Chikolio by getting a furnace and cook him? And after him there is a Thief, a Enderman, he steals you money but when you defeat him in battle he gives you pearls and you use those pearls to kill him, what do you think?

    IMPORTANT:

First, when you leave the page does your progress save?
Second, where can I see the code???

And you should change the title of the topic because this is not a bad JavaScript game :P

Your progress should save every 15 seconds. If you want to make sure without risking it, open the game in another tab to see if it starts you off near your current progress.

As for the source code, you should already be able to see the source code. Just view the page's source with your browser.

What if we agreed to be business partners with Chikolio and we want to stop being business partners with him?

There really isn't a way to get rid of chikolio, but I'm going to add in a really expensive upgrade that lets you pay him "off".

I can't buy the Insurance and I have 20 milion.
I'm playing this game but could you explain to me how it works and is there another boss after Don Chikolio
Can you give a link or something to the source code?

Insurance does not have a purpose yet.

I have not added another boss after Chikolio, but I'm always open for ideas.

I have 10,000 knights. How long should that hold out?

Well in the next update, your soldiers will actually die in battle. And I will make it so after every 5 attacks by Don Chikolio, the rate of soldier production of his army increases a little bit more.

The prices that are displayed for buying the miners doesn't seem to be matching up with the actual amount it is deducting. Perhaps if some of your knights died during the battles, so that you have to keep buying them, and also if you won money for winning a battle, to make it more interesting?

    Fixed the worker prices!

As for soldiers dying, I was going to add that but it got really late last night. I'll add it in soon as possible. :)

Added a new boss (for those AFKers/over-nighters, battle reprot screens will automatically continue after 1 minute)
    Added defense tab
Workers' prices now use a new formula
Added upgrade "insurance", but it serves no purpose yet. Buy it if you wish.

I'm actually glad that you're gonna reset it... i was a bit worried i'd have to rummage through my cookies or something to do it myself, so that i'm on par with the changes... wouldn't be too fun with my 275 billion gold, now would it, lol....

    27-...275...b-...billion?

Hmm, take a look at the Achievements for Cookie Clicker.
They may give you a few ideas for some things to add in if you go with Achievements.
A variety of things like getting X OPM or having obtained Y Emeralds would give people more things to do and look forward to.

Achievements are a definite thing. I just gotta get someone who is good at pixel art. :)

    Quote from AnneOnimous

If you want your game to become more popular, making it like cookie clicker is both good and bad. It's good because it's thought out pretty well in terms of game design - especially for something so simple. It is very balanced, the benefits have appropriate drawbacks, you have to think about what is most efficient (i.e. theorycraft, which is incredibly important in keeping player interest), there are problems with counterplay, and the game rewards good play rather than punishes bad play. All good things to learn.

If you want to make your game more unique, you'll have to try something new. I'm rather territorial, so I would want a way to spend my emeralds on building materials or land, to occupy more space and create a virtual village... or expand into several villages, or make a city. This would make the game more unique and minecraft-like, if you could figure out how to implement it in a simple way. You could purchase houses, shops, and farms - and you could tax the villages for more emeralds. To tie in with the mining focus of the javagame, you could make it so that the hired workers have a certain stock that is provided by the villages you build (i.e., miners have to be 'bred' from villagers before they are available for purchase). This would necessitate expansion and forward progression, while giving the player a meaningful way to spend their emeralds.

Just a thought. It's a bit much for you, probably, but I feel like this idea could be pretty good.

I did base this game off of cookie clicker, but during the first few hours of its development I started veering off of that course. But I still have to give credits to CC for the idea.

In regards to the village system, that would actually be very cool. I'm sure everyone would enjoy it, and it would also be a feature that would make the game length so much longer. If you want to reply/send me a PM on the specifics of how you would want that system to work, I could probably try making the basis of it.

Also, I'm going to release another update tonight within an hour or or so. Sadly, progress will have to be reset (some core changes that simply wouldn't work with the previous version). Not too many changes as I had a busy day, but it introduces a new boss. It's a little more complex than the Zombie Boss. This time, you have to hire soldiers to defend from his attacks.

I might be able to add in some more stuff before I get off tonight, though (e.g: BloodyPhoenix's suggestion about the increasing of worker prices based on how many you have, and a few bug fixes I know of).

Edit: I would really enjoy adding in leaderboards, but there really wouldn't be a way of stopping cheaters.

You might want to change the vault sprite to a chest and the money bag to an emerald, just to make it more in theme to Minecraft.

Hah, wow. Can't believe I didn't think of that. Thanks! :)

You can easily cheat by clicking the Mine button and pressing the Enter key a couple of times.

Anyone can cheat in this type of game, but I'll add in a fix for it anyways. Thanks. :)

How does one save? Also, two ideas: 1. Have a link back to this thread for funsies. 2.Maybe be able to buy torches to reduce the zombie chance, just until we can afford the golem.

I was thinking about the ability to buy "soldiers" to ward off the zombie or other bosses.

    Quote from BloodyPhoenix
Another thing I noticed is the workers page moves with the ores above. It's not too big of a deal, but I've found myself about to click something and then the auto-sell would cause the page size to change and make me miss. :(

Gah! I will have a fix for this. This is something that also annoys me hah.

    Quote from AnneOnimous
One thing that would be good to add is more visibility. Perhaps a $/second figure on each different worker type that you have? Perhaps a $/second figure that the player has made by mining/auto-mining? And an overall $/second rate? Would help. Also, upgrades for each individual miner type would make the game more interesting. There needs to be more goals - games like these are entirely goal-oriented, so upgrades and achievements help a lot. If helps even more if you can get some decent graphics and cause the upgrades to change the visuals a bit.

I'll add $/second soon (possibly overall & workers), it would be a nice little statistic for everyone to see/share. More goals and upgrades are definitely planned. Just getting some other stuff sorted out.

And as for graphics, I'm not really a graphics guy. But I'll probably be able to find a friend to help me out on that. :)

The game has potential for certain.
A background is one thing to look into as a start, and maybe adding in the three other Overworld ores.

One thing you could do is make each new worker cost more than the previous.
The formula Cookie Clicked used for it is (Base * 1.15^x), x = Total of that type owned.
So Steve 1 would be $3,000, Steve 2 would be $3,450, Steve 3 would be $3,968 (rounded), and so on.
This would slow down getting an income faster than you can spend.

I really like that idea about the purchasing costs. I'll probably end up trying out that formula. And I'll be sure to add in more ores, but the hardest part is trying to determine how much they are worth, etc.

As for the background idea, I've been meaning to try and get a better background. But I'll probably have to get someone else to help me out with that.

For now, it's late, and I'm off to bed. :)

More bosses (creeper, skeleton, etc) and upgrades to "defeat" them, and maybe take out the auto pilot upgrade, or add in more things you have to click on besides buying more workers, after the auto pilot upgrade is achieved...

Alright, I could make auto-pilot a lot more expensive.

More bosses is definitely planned for tomorrow. I might make an "army" side to this game, mine for $$$, then protect your business from various gangs/bosses by hiring soldiers.

More upgrades are also definitely planned. Always open for ideas. ;)
