    posted a message on I need help with balconies

    I'm not using multiple types of wood for the same house because I'm trying to make it look like villagers could've built the village, and villagers don't use multiple types of wood on the same house, or really put that much effort into making their houses look that great. I'm also making the village with default textures, since this map is supposed to be played with (mostly) default textures.

    I gave up on trying to put the balcony over the first floor, so now it looks like this and I'm satisfied.

    I'm trying to make a very small and basic oak house with a balcony for a village I'm creating, but I can't figure out how to get the roof to look good with it.

    posted a message on Orientable Problem

    I want to change the texture of the dispenser, and have a different texture on all sides. I made textures with appropriate names, went to models > block > dispenser.json, and changed the code there to be like this:

    {
        "parent": "block/cube",
        "textures": {
            "particle": "dispenser_top",
            "down": "dispenser_top",
            "up": "dispenser_top",
            "north": "dispenser_front",
            "east": "dispenser_side",
            "south": "dispenser_back",
            "west": "dispenser_side"
        }
    }

    That cause the purple and black block to appear, and I couldn't find any way to fix it, so I changed the code to this:

    {
        "parent": "block/orientable",
        "textures": {
            "particle": "dispenser_top",
            "down": "dispenser_top",
            "up": "dispenser_top",
            "north": "dispenser_front",
            "east": "dispenser_side",
            "south": "dispenser_back",
            "west": "dispenser_side"
        }
    }

    ...and changed the orientable code to this:

    {
        "parent": "block/cube",
        "display": {
            "firstperson_righthand": {
                "rotation": [ 0, 135, 0 ],
                "translation": [ 0, 0, 0 ],
                "scale": [ 0.40, 0.40, 0.40 ]
            }
        },
        "textures": {
            "particle": "#particle",
            "down": "#down",
            "up": "#up",
            "north": "#north",
            "east": "#east",
            "south": "#south",
            "west": "#west"
        }
    }

    It still has the purple and black texture, and I can't find anything wrong with this code. Could someone please help?

    posted a message on Consequtive Leaf Colors

    from your resource pack, go to models > block > birch_leaves.json

    If any of these files aren't there, make 'em.

    Open the .json file with notepad or notepad++, and copy this code into the file:

    {
        "parent": "block/cube_all",
        "textures": {
            "all": "blocks/leaves_birch"
        }
    }

    Now the leaves shouldn't change colour with the biomes, and stay like the original texture at all times.

    Notepad++ is one of the best text editors out there. With it installed, you should be able to right click any file to edit them with Notepad++.

    .minecraft > versions > 1.10 > 1.10.jar

    The default resource pack will be in 1.10.jar as "assets". You will need 7-Zip or Winrar to open 1.10.jar. The sound, icon, and most of the lang files will not be there. You can find those in

    .minecraft > assets > indexes > 1.10.json

    It is highly recommended that you open the 1.10.json with something like Notepad or Notepad++, not something like Microsoft Word. Find the sound, icon, or lang file you want, and copy the "hash" after it. Go back to the assets folder and go to objects, and paste the hash into the search bar, and you will find the file you wanted. Copy the file into your resource pack and rename it to what it would normally be, and also change the file to an .ogg, .png, or .lang, depending on the type of file it normally is.

    I cannot give you the default resource pack to you directly, because that is distributing Mojang's files, which is illegal.

    posted a message on Where's Water's & Lava's Model and Blockstate .json files?
    Quote from Alvoria»

    There are no models for the liquids as they defy the rigid requirements normally imposed on block models. As such, the only way to change them is by modding the game.

    Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I hope that helps you.

    That's a bummer, but it's better than having no models or blockstate folders at all!

    I was messing with the models json files, and now everything looks broken. Don't worry, it's still playable, but you won't be able to tell where and what's what.

    Where are the .json files for water & lava in the model and blockstate folders? Do they exist? Is there any way to edit them like you do with any other .json file in the model and blockstate folders?

    You can probably only use /playsound with sounds under the same name and directory of existing sounds, but I'm not quite sure about this.

    You're sure you logged into your xbox account or whatever it is? I'm not too familiar with the xbox/microsoft community online stuff, but something like this should remember something you bought on a different device.

    Quote from eleazzaar»

    Not with blockmodels. For that you need the CTM features MCPatcher and Optifine provide.

    That's a bummer. I was wanting to make brick blocks look like they do in Super Mario Bros., where the top block would have a white top and the blocks below it wouldn't have that.

    The stuff I found out about models and blockstates is still really cool, though.

    Is there a way to make it so if there's a block above the block it'll be different, so if you have a stack of the same block, the top block would be different.
