posted a message on Can you get mods on SMP servers?
It's actually possible, you'd have to put the files into the minecraft_server.jar instead and everyone that logs onto the server must have the mod installed.

Just making sure, does Deathmatch Mode work properly in SMP right now? I have player spawners working, but blocks can still be destroyed, except for the spawners themselves.

posted a message on Replacing old chunks?
Is there a way to replace old chunks with new ones? When I manually delete chunks, and log into Minecraft, it just keeps generating the same old chunks. I used MCEdit and the same thing happens. I want to be able to generate a natural terrain, which I don't think MCEdit can do. (Or can it?)

Btw, I don't want to have to create a new world and import the old one because then the maps don't exactly look synched.

We're a small group of friendly and mature players. The server is hosted in the East Coast, but you may be living anywhere in the world and still apply. Small servers generally allow people with similar interests to get together and build rather than fight and raid others. The concept is to work together and get to know others.

    Information about the server:
      • It is a survival server.
      • There is PvP, but don't be a douche.
      • Server is NOT 24/7.
      General Times are:
      Weekdays: 6:00 PM - 12:00 AM
Weekends: 12:00 PM - 2:00 AM (Also msg me on AIM / MSN to let me know if you want the server to be up)
      • Runs Bukkit
      • Uses a whitelist.

    Plugins:
      Bukkit
      • rBorder
      • General (For essential commands)
      • WorldGuard (Your buildings will be protected if requested, but chests are not)
      • CraftBook (Currently Offline)

    How to Apply:
    IGN:
    Description of yourself:
(Using proper grammer goes a long ways, if you can't type properly, I will most likely reject you.

posted a message on MineOS--the most simple way to host MC
Hi, I've been using MineOS for a while now and it works great! I'm now thinking about if I should use RAMDISKS. I read your tutorial and I'm still unsure.

I just have a few questions.
    - Will installing a RAMDISK effectively reduce the amount of RAM to run a server?
    - Will my server be able to host more people and run faster?

    Thanks!

When I first booted MineOS for the first time, everything was working. Now when I try to start my server it comes up with " {'world': 'one', 'command': 'start'} starting up world... ("int() argument must be a string or a number, not 'NoneType'",) int() argument must be a string or a number, not 'NoneType' ".
    That was using ISO 1/17.

So I did a fresh install with the new ISO, and it said the world was up but I was never able to connect. Then I shut off the machine to restart it, and now the same error pops up.

I didn't have this problem until today, but my server is having constant rollbacks. My character logs in, I can do actions just fine without any lag but when I log out and log back in, I'm rollbacked to a certain position and I can't stop the server from doing this. It also happens to every player.

I got it to temporarly fix by deleting some files such as my other worlds and it started working again without rolling back. Then after a couple hours the problem occured again. Do I have to change the amount of storage in sda to more? I kind of think 8 gigs should be enough so I don't think that would solve this.

    Hmm nope. Didn't work.

Once the server was on, I typed /save-on and it said enabling level saving. Then I typed save-all and it said 'forcing save...' 'save complete.' I don't see why it wouldn't work, but it didn't =/

EDIT: I got it fixed. Since I was running off virtualbox, I guess I ran out of space to store the data or something like that. =x I just made space so it would save.

I've tried restarting the server, and that's about it, I don't know how to fix this. [email protected]

First I want to say, thanks for creating MineOS and helping fix our problems. I finally got my server to run but I'm not sure how to save and open it.

Before shutting down VM, I backed up the world. However, when I want to start the server again, it says

    "World one does not exist!
    World one: DOWN
    --DONE-- "

I've tried import, restore, and they don't work. Sorry if I'm doing something obviously wrong or just being a newb. I went through the thread and found out I needed to use FTP or something to transfer/edit files. I have no clue how to use FTP or what it is.

    Thanks again!

I'm having a problem setting up VirtualBox. On part 1, step 5, I'm unable to add and select the ISO.

posted a message on New to minecraft servers, having a few problems.
    1) Go to your folder and find server.properties. Then set spawn-monsters=false.

    2) It's not a command, I think you'd have to install a mod, sorry!

    3) Not sure.
