(NB: in 1.8 all ores have a "size" that is 1 larger than before so they are slightly bigger; the seed shown here won't work since ore generation was changed; I found this vein by using Minutor to search for large diamond veins)
As for iron, I once found a huge deposit in a cave (shown in a recreated world after I exposed all the veins, there were a total of 39 iron in this small area, most in one or two clusters):
(an interesting thing - this appears to be a generation glitch and it only happens if you reach the area from a certain direction)
I also found a vein of 12 diamond, on at least 2-3 occasions, one shown below (only one ore was visible before I uncovered it):
I've also found coal deposits so large I've basically dug out a cave by the time I mined it all out. -

Yep same issue here. It seems multiple people are having this issue.
Did you ever update your video card recently? That's what's causing my issue. I had an update for NVIDIA and as soon as I updated Minecraft wouldn't start anymore.

I finally got a job (at least I like to think it is).
I'm babysitting for my family as they work from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM every week day.
I make 200$ per week. 40$ each day.
What do you guys think?

I know he was referring to the little pieces of textures that fly off when you break the block.
That's still a main feature of Minecraft. And probably very hard to remove/replace.
