Yeah, that was another oneI was goign to bring up.
You can't learn anything about a new features true value immediately after its release. You have to give people time to adapt to it. The real complaint is about the change, whether or not they acknowledge it.
So, based on your comments in this thread and elsewhere, you're currently one of my favorite members of the forum community. 5 Stars!
The OP, being someone who seems to prefer the aesthetic of a corporate-produced game, thinks Terraria to be an equally entertaining game as Minecraft, and considers Minecraft to be a game that "eventually gets boring"
...Drumroll please...
Is NOT the target audience of the Minecraft Full Release!
Thank you for playing! I'd ask you to pick up a copy of our homegame, but it doesn't have a committee to decide every texture, so you would probably call it amateurish.
I think they take pride, I just think there's too much on their plate and not enough people. They've given themselves one month to give content, and then one month to fix it all. On top of that, Notch is going to court, and they're working on another game already. It's just too much.
This. I totally get the impression that they're a little overburdened. If they pushed full release back a month, I'd be way less worried. Of course, "doing too much" does not, in my mind, mean "lazy" or "uncaring." In fact, rather the opposite.
cuz in-game steve is 1 1/2 pixel lower than 2 blocks. 32 pix in 2 blocks.
Er, sorry if I'm dense, but how does one get a half-pixel? I always thought pixels were the smallest unit of graphical display. Besides that, though, yeah, it seems you have this one right.
Show them some zoomed-out pixel art, the kind where you can hardly tell that it's made of blocks. Maybe get them to understand that, if they zoom down deep enough in *any* game, it's eventually made of little bricks, too. (Modren graphics use voxels these days, right? Or am I just derping?)
Oh!
Well, I don't think there's a way to do that, then, if you want to distribute the map. The player would have to download a custom client to play the map that would alter the spawner.
I'm not sure you'd need a custom client so much as a mod-- or, well, I guess those are kind of the same thing, nevermind.
My favorite would be a mix of both of those: pregnant animals *and* baby animals. Baby animals, you can still kill, but they have way lower resource drops, don't give exp, and make you feel like a horrible person when you kill them. Also, they can't breed until they grow up, because I don't like the idea of babies having sex ;-P
Yeah, it's a bit of a thing to implement, but it sounds pretty doable to me-- the babies could even just be resized versions of the same sprite, I'd be okay with that, and some of the growth code could probably be stolen from wheat.
Hey y'all, apologies that this is yet another thread on this topic, but all the other ones have quickly degenerated into flamewars, and this is a bit of an experiment.
Acknowledging that breeding, like most of this game, is still in development, what features do you guys think would improve it? Where is it lacking, and what potential do you see in it? Where do you hope it goes with its next update?
Not that Mojang will likely see this, but an open discussion on the merits and demerits of various forms of breeding would, at the least, provide great ideas for mods.
Just the sheer fact all of you tools keep argueing against the feedback Phar, me and plenty of others write up constructively in an attempt to voice the opinion of greater groups of people - is the reason we keep getting this crap implemented.
This is where your argument breaks down. You're *not* giving feedback, you're complaining on an internet forum. If you were giving Mojang feedback, you'd be telling these things to them, not us.
Also, let me demonstrate how to start a constructive thread about animal breeding. BRB.
I need to stop posting at midnight and I also need to remember what they taught me five years ago in the mandantory general education English class at my community college.
I sincerely apologize for my lengthy and crazy post.
I do believe it has good points in it though.
Also, posting about metaphysical concepts ( I'm referring to The Problem of Induction ) on a forum about a video game and expecting people to understand may have been a serious flaw in my judgement...
Is that where I lost you? At induction vs. deduction?
Hey, for the record, your post was full of good points; a lot of these guys just have the attention span of Spongebob Squarepants.

That would be awesome! "Minecraft: InfiniDev!"

If we could make horizontal nether portals, you could even do a Fall of Lucifer simulation!
