    So I've read over all of the Ideas you guys have submitted and while they are all fairly interesting concepts, I don't think I will be attempting any of them. I actually had a pretty cool idea of a game that mixes elements of Minecraft and the concepts of Notch's unfinished 0x10C. I think I will put most of my energy towards that project instead. I'm planning on making it a Open Source and Free-to-play game if I can get anywhere in the project.

    Hello Minecraft Forums,

    After a period of absents from the modding community I would like to get back into mod making.
    How ever I want to go about this diffrently than I have in the past. Instead of just doing what I like, I would like to get suggestions from the comminuty on what I should make. So here are a few of the things ive done that might be worth restarting, and some new Ideas. Feel free to suggest your own, I would love to hear them.

    My Current Ideas
    Shur'tual (Based on Eragon Books)
    Grid Craft (Based on Tron movies and TV Show)
    Infamous SuperPower Mod(Based on the Sony games)
    Dragon's Reach (Some sort of Dragon Based Skylands)
    Unamed 80's Glowing Syfy Realm (inspired by Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon)

    My problem with 4/5 those ideas is that they are based on something else. I would really much rather start with a totaly new idea. Also as you can tell im intrested in doing larger mods.

    posted a message on ModJam 3 - The 96 hour creation competition FINALLY Announced!
    Ive kinda been waiting for the next mod jam for a while. Not great timing as it falls into the same time as finals for me. But what why not I'm in.

    Quick clarification.... I assume nothing(besides ideas) can be made before hand? No Models or Textures? I just want to rule out a few ideas that would take too much time to model and animate.

    Pretty Much, We both are in collage and don't have a lot of time. Plus we have some side projects(unrelated to minecraft) in planning stage that we both have more interest in. Don't get me wrong we love you guys and are thankful for you support but we think its best for us to move on to new things.

    So I have to apologize. Yesterday i woke up feeling absolutely terrible (and had a fever). My entire body was sore and i spent the whole day laying on my couch sleeping. So as you can imagine nothing got done on Shurtugal(at least from me). I will try to work on it some time today but i do have some school work that needs to get done first. I apologize for the update taking so long but my life has been crazy and finding time (and motivation) has been pretty hard with how much time ive been working. My internship is set to end in a few weeks and after it is over i will try to set it up such that i work on shurtugal for at least an hour a day.

    Was that name used in the books or something? I don't remember it from the movie?

    Shur'tugal is "Dragon Rider" in the Ancient Language which is the language of magic in the books, So Shur'tugal is pretty tied to Eragon.

    Your right, standard Forge doesn't have permission's built in, but MCPC+ is a Forge/Bukkit hybrid (made by one of Mo'Creature's developers), so it has permission support. I've been using it and imagine it is as close as we have to what the Pluggin API will be like.


    Im not sure if grief prevention would protect your dragons, working between a bukkit plugin and mod is not a straight forward thing. Plus on basic forge servers bukkit plugins would not work so thats why i programed that peice. More so I don't claim support for MCPC+, While I could work perfectly fine I have not at this point tested with it. However I may do some testing on it when I can get a vanilla version that is stable. In any case I definitely will take into account a lot of things you brought up when starting the redesign of the code(should happen after next release).

    This mod will never become a full conversion and it will always have support for just about any mod, with the exception of mods that change base classes, because i can not ensure that there changes don't brake my stuff(That being said it could work perfectly).

    You are so right, mods are not build with public servers in mind. It wasn't even until minecraft 1.3 that it was required some form of muiltiplayer support, and a large portion of the mods are only SMP because it has to be. And a side affect of this is that a lot of the mods don't even take into account the possibility of it running on a server. I have at least tried to make this mod so that it would work better on servers, so when a player goes offline his dragon goes with him to keep down random killing of his dragon when hes gone, Also to keep from having 40 dragons sitting around wasting server power while there riders are offline. While this is a great idea it still needs work because its brought a ton of bugs. Correct me if im wrong but Forge doesn't have a Permission systems(built in) like bukkit, and not many people are that interested in creating one for a handful of Servers that might run the mod. Ill write more later but i have to go to class right now.

    Correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like your looking for a good mount system(utility mod) for you server id definitely say that Dragon Mounts is what your looking for. Although its lacking My custom saving and loading system for dragons that allow dragons to be despawn and respawn at will(which in my opinion is pretty needed for a server of any larger size), Dragon Mounts is far less intrusive into minecraft feel and look then this mod has planned to be. while we have not gotten too that state we have never intend or wanted to just be a utility, Thats Dragon Mounts goal(or so it seems). We are just trying to take that (we started from dragon mounts code) and make some sort of an Adventure from it. But Thats just ideas at the moment. I am thankful for you option, it is nice to hear different points of view.

    We will keep the fact that the dragon is tied to you. Ive Spent way to much time working on it to remove it.. lol. I'm mostly joking on the last part, it is a nice feature and i plan on keeping it if we move away from it.

    Im fine with textures over 16x16 as long as the color scheme still fits with minecraft, Sphax Purebdcraft texture pack is a good example of larger textures that doesn't loose touch with the look and feel of MC(in my opinion). But back to the Mod at hand, I will be releasing a resource pack that will contain the old egg, dragon, and brick textures for those who like the old ones better, this pack might contain more vanilla looking dragon armor if I can get the time to redo them. As far as your question goes I have no idea what happens when you change that gamerule, I assume it just stops the spawn and does nothing to any creature already in the world.

    P.S. I will probably get the resource pack out with the next release.

    At some point we will be moving to github, when the mod moved to open source. The exact time and way it will become open source has yet to be determined. It has always been the plan for this mod but we have not gotten to a point where I feel its right(aka our code still looks awful and needs much cleaning) and it is not finished enough yet either.
