I'm not sure if this is a bug, you can try it out yourself but you have to be either in creative mode or have TooManyItems mod (yes they have it for the newest screenshot)! First, make a super flat world (not required but easier), next take out 1 block of dirt and replace it with snow. Next, go on the TooManyItems block selection, and select the thin snow block (could also be found in snow biomes or by making snow golems). Take the new fire ball thingy (NOT THE FLINT AND STEEL, ITS NOT THE SAME)! Try placing the fire on the snow, and it will work. It won't go on the thin snow blocks though. Also, why do we need a new fire orb thingy, when we have flint and steel? Perhaps when placed in a dispenser they shoot out fire? Just another thing for you to try, my Minecraft friends...
I just downloaded the newest version of craftbukkit, the one that sets itself up, and I chose it to download all the files to a folder on my desktop instead of the original destination, and for some reason it didn't open, not once! It immediately closes, and none of the other files you could usually open would work as well.....
I require help, I deleted and im re-installing it in the proper destination, but if there is something I need to do first then someone please tell me! :sad.gif:
I love your forum It has the best staff and it is very free unlike the others where I have to get permission to build and crap! This server also has no lagg which is perfect. Finally I can build, chat, and still no lagg thanks! :biggrin.gif:
Hello, today I thought I might share with you something I found and also request some support with a related problem. As the title says, this is a topic about Minecraft indev (0.31), and since alot of you people are curious as to what it looked like or begging notch to bring it back, I will show you how to bring the good old times back. I found a program called MCNostalgia that will downgrade/upgrade your Minecraft to absolutely any level! I did not create this, CyborgDragon did, but I do get some joy out of it! I will guide you step by step through the process of using this program! NOTE: You need to have a vanilla version of minecraft. For those of you who don't know, vanilla version is where you don't have any mods on and its normal version. You can keep your maps on, but if you downgrade to maybe indev or something than your favorite puppy or enchantment table will be gone! Actually, i've never tested what would happen, but that is my guess. Don't try it anyways.
1:Go onto Minecraft and click on options in the bottom right corner. Then click force update and login for it to give you a Vanilla minecraft, otherwise it will give you an error. If you already have a vanilla version, you may skip this step! :smile.gif:
3: Open the folder and double click the MCNostalgia Application!
4: It will ask you to press enter to see a possibility of downgrades (click enter, only a list appears. No worries)
This is the exact text that will appear:
******** - MCNostalgia 2.0.1 - ********
This program at its current version will assume that your
patches are in the patches directory.
It is set to patch the minecraft files in
your .minecraft\bin folder.
Once you press enter, I will list the versions available for
you to downgrade to. This list is generated from the files
that you have in your patches directory
Your patches directory is set to: This is where your patches directory is set to.
Your .minecraft bin folder has been detected to be: This is where your .minecraft bin folder is located.
Press enter to see the list of downgrade possibilities.
5: Scroll down the list of downgrades and find the one you want to downgrade to (example: indev or 0.31)
6: If you check to the side you will see a number next to every downgrade possibility (example: the one for indev is 67)
7: Punch that number in and hit enter (DON'T TAKE STEP SEVEN LITERALLY). Next it will start to type alot of things in about changing your minecraft (sometimes alot of things, other times just a small paragraph or less). If you get an error saying you still don't have a vanilla version of minecraft, press enter to leave the application and repeat the whole process.
8: open your minecraft and let it load as long as it needs to take. There you have it downgraded or upgraded to the version of your choice! :smile.gif:
Now I have to ask everyone for a related question that I think might help others aswell if answered correctly! I would just like to know if anyone has a working inventory editor for older versions of minecraft? INVedit might have had older versions, but they only have the newest version download link, sadly. If someone could please help me out that would be great! :biggrin.gif:
Guys download MCNostalgia for minecraft and use it to downgrade to indev (0.31). Next go into the minecraft.jar file and go to terrain.png. There look around for the gears. You will see they were removed and could only be obtained by hacking. Now there is no way of hacking to obtain them or see them first hand because they were removed permanently. I would suggest trying to find an inventory editor that supports indev and maybe try it again. I know there must still be a way of obtaining them!
I think the real purpose of the block was to craft it using one obsidian block and one lapis lazuli (minecraft wiki didn't specify the type of lapis lazuli such as block or ore). Their main point was to set a new respawn point but the idea was blown to bits when they introduced the bed! It seemed more likely to find in someones world than a crying portal block, hmm?? Anyways I wish they did make something out of it, it looks really neat! (Also it was in fact still an obsidian block but with a different texture and purpose. The properties probrobly stayed the same though.)
I too wish the button was re-enabled. It was at a time allowed, and it offered multiple world map types, such as floating islands, hell land, etc... Except there were some problems. The main reason it was removed was for the following smaller reasons:
1.No one really liked the floating island, and it got annoying falling off of it from time to time.
2.The hell land was replaced by the nether in the 1.8 (Halloween update [if I got that right] )and no one cared about it anymore.
They eventually came out with the more world options and didn't remove the worlds, but instead blocked the button. Perhaps maybe deleting some files that patch that button will be the answer to our problems. We need someone to try that. Either that or it is just patched forever.
If I got this right, these were all the worlds available to choose from and those were the reasons they were taken away. Please correct me if i'm wrong, I am just trying to remember what Minecraft Wiki wrote about it!
Hope this helps everyone a lot at understanding this problem! :smile.gif:
