Right. Guess that means I can leave my pumps as is then. Thanks, Reika.

I have a question about Reactorcraft and Mekanism. Can I use Mekanism's heavy water to produce Reactorcraft deuterium, provided I run it through a Reactorcraft electrolyser? Or will I need to use Reactorcraft's own heavy water?

I have managed to figure out how to gain a few hundred K gold a day without lifting a finger. This isn't so much a complaint as a rather amusing bit of mod interaction.

An interesting observation: one mark 3 collector is exactly enough to run one setup like this. With more hoppers, more collectors and more condensers in a 1:1:1 ratio, it should be possible to increase money production rates to about half a million per day per shipping box.

I figured I'd tell you that Witching Gadgets breaks several of your Force powers. More specifically, the ones that heal or cause damage do everything they should EXCEPT healing or causing damage. No idea if you can fix this, but I think you should know that it happens.

Fixed that for you. Sentient is not the same as intelligent. Sentient means aware of their environment. Sapient means intelligent, hence why we're called Homo sapiens, not Homo sentiens.

posted a message on Big Reactors port for 1.9.4 / 1.10.2 - anyone interested? (update2: Mod is working on both 1.9.4 and 1.10.2)

You realize this is the Internet, right? You should be happy when people read the last three posts and the OP, something that happens far less that it should.

Bound Blade. It's unbreakable, isn't it? The Sentient Sword isn't, requiring constant re-enchanting.

There is not. Try getting Will from zombies instead, as the Will quality rises with the mob's maximum HP.

I agree that updating to 1.9.4 would be ideal, followed by a 1,.10.2 version. Mind you, almost all 1.9.4 mods I have tried work on 1.10.2. Heck, most 1.9.4>1.10 'ports' are simply reuploads of the 1.9.4 file with absolutely no modifications. And while I can't guarantee it, I don't believe maintaining both should take more that a few minutes extra per update.

Did you do anything differently to get the download page to load? I have been trying to get a newer version of Mekanism (all parts) for over a month now and am still getting a "522" from cloudflare.

I wish Aidan would put the downloads back on Github, but can understand the necessity of securing the download from leeches that re-post it on other, unauthorized, sites.

I'm sorry to say I haven't done anything special. Which version of MC do you use?

posted a message on NuclearCraft - complex nuclear engineering in Minecraft!

Simple 'A turns into B with C resources, D energy and E time' should (according to my limited knowledge of modding) be relatively easy, though things unravel when you want intermediate isotopes to be added as well.

And where antimatter is concerned, it's worth noting that it can be used for stable power generation if used in small amounts, not unlike liquid fuels in cars. But storing so much energy in a battery is... I wouldn't say physically impossible, but it's definitely stretching the limits of both physics

    and usefulness.

The only way to store that much power in a portable cell is to recreate matter and antimatter, store them under high levels of compression and annihilate them when power is needed. But that is far beyond our capabilities, as it requires a full antimatter power plant (reaction chambers, water, heat exchangers, turbines, cooling towers, etc.) to be fit in a device about the size of a modern smartphone, and it would require a vacuum chamber and unspeakably powerful magnets about that same size. And it must be approaching perfect efficiency. And here's the real kicker: the battery needs power to not explode! So when it runs out, kaboom! Plus it'd be about as heavy as a car.

Here's a fun fact about extremes in nature: among the densest forms of energy known to mankind can be found in neutron stars. They have densities of around 10^17 kg/m^3. This means that one teaspoon of neutron star would weigh around three THOUSAND times as much as the whole Empire State Building! That's the kind of material that, when annihilated in a controlled manner, can produce enough energy for an untold length of time. When we remember that 5 metric tonnes of matter contain the energy of a hundred thousand nukes, we can calculate that the annihilation of a tablespoon of neutron star and a tablespoon of its antimatter equivalent releases 4 x 10^13 nukes worth of energy.

TL;DR: Don't carry antimatter in your pocket, or else. "Did I recharge my A-M box this morning? What is that noise? Why are my intestines in orbit?"

A lot of these seem better suited for separate mods. And the few that actually fit with the theme (nuclear physics) seem... meh. To me anyway. Nuclear transmutation is a thing, but one has to wonder how doable it would be in this mod. Consider looking at MineChem instead, that has nuclear transmutation as well. And then we arrive at antimatter. Yay, the single most violent reaction we can recreate on a meaningful scale. An 'antimatter pickaxe' makes absolutely no sense, as it would annihilate in seconds and leave behind a crater visible from space. And if we annihilate one block of stone... Goodbye country. Have some math.

The average density of stone is between 2.3 - 2.8 x 10^3kg/m^3. That means we have about 2500 kg worth of material. To annihilate that, we need an equal amount of antimatter. So 5000 kg of mass annihilates, turning into energy according to E=M x C x C. C is 299,792,458 m/s. And that gives us a full calculation, namely 5000 x 299,792,458 ^ 2 = 5000 x 89,875,517,873,681,764 = 449,377,589,368,408,820,000 J. To give you a good comparison, that's 2,140 times more powerful than the Tsar Bomba, the most powerful nuclear bomb produced to date. One hundred thousand times more than a conventional nuke. And you plan to contain that... how?

Wanna know what that can do? If used right, you can decimate all multi-cellular life on Earth with half your supply. How? By redirecting a 100 km wide space rock.

As for giving the pickaxe a form of containment that can be 'turned off', that's not an option. Either you keep matter and antimatter divided at all times (by suspending it in a vacuum for example) or kaboom won't cut it.

Portable storage is possible IN THEORY. You just need a couple of superconducting magnets to trap antihydrogen in a vacuum. Wanna store heavier antimatter atoms? Haha, good luck with that. You can use carefully calibrated magnets to store rods of ferromagnetic antimatter, but that's about it.

posted a message on [1.6.X] Portal Gun - Reconstructed [v1] - Rewritten... again.

The site doesn't get updated all that often unless a mod actually updates, even blog posts are rare. And you can go to the Java 8 post and. He wrote "my mods which have not been updated to 1.8.9 will be skipping that and will be jumping to MC 1.9, possibly 1.9.4 instead". So the statement "next supported version will be for 1.8" is pretty much guaranteed to be outdated.
