I like to tunnel through netherrack rather than making a path over lava. It may be less direst but is safer and potentially even quicker. Also you can mine quartz while you are at it.

Why should I be White-listed?: I have been playing minecraft since 2010 in beta and I have still never played in a SMP server. I enjoy the latest versions of Vanilla on Hard mode when I play SSP. This server sounds exactly what I am looking for. I am a dedicated player, and am knowledgable about the game.
27 yrs old looking for SMP. I just created an IGN and it is Hyperion3020. I'll wait for your pm. Where is the server located geographically? Could this lead to lag issues for some people or does that not matter?
If you are on Mac you have to press fn (function) and f3 together. "fn" key is located next to delete key. If you are on windows I believe all you have to do is press the f3 key. http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Debug_screen

Ah ok. I would just hold off on the project until you can enchant the tools I mentioned or gather a good amount of TNT, or both. If it is mostly dirt, a diamond shovel with efficiency II, III, or IV and Unbreaking III will be almost instant when destroying dirt and sand blocks. The Unbreaking enchantment makes it last surprisingly long. When it wears down I would repair it at least 2-3 times using the anvil because it can be hard to get both efficiency and unbreaking on the same shovel, but not always.
Use Flint and Steel to burn the trees, or if you need wood mats use a diamond efficiency IV Axe. Use a diamond efficiency IV shovel with unbreaking III to clear dirt/sand/gravel. And use efficiency IV/Unbreaking III Diamond Pickaxe for stone/sandstone.
Why can't you use TNT? Creepers with a looting sword or raiding desert temples should supply a decent amount.
I have been digging up old screenshots to present before and after shots of the Home Base. I have replaced the plain glass windows with black "tinted" glass, good for those harsh rays in the savannah and desert biomes. Many room additions and exterior renovations are complete. There is still a lot of work to do on the interior, and the exterior is mostly done but not complete. Landscaping of the back yard still needs doing, and plans to move the farm land off-site are in place.

Spent a lot of time with these renovations. Looking forward to getting back to the end game content like Ocean Monuments, Hunting for Wither Skeletons in the Nether, and searching for a Stronghold with Eyes of Ender. Also a couple building projects on the horizon, such as: Pyramid, lighthouse, Quartz temple, and Village development.
How does that zombie curer work? Judging from the photo I'm guessing you just run in run out and close the door behind you to trap the zombie in?
Correct. Have the zombie follow me in to the back wall of the cell, then i run out as quickly as possible and flip the lever to shut the iron door. Once they are captive I feed the splash potion of weakness and golden apple through the space in the iron bars. Once they are cured I have to heard the villager by body pushing up the stairs to the village, which is actually much harder than locking the zombie in, but just takes a little patience.
Entry 12: Mining Trip
A small update here of an abandoned mineshaft with cave spider spawner and what I was able to haul from the total trip.
A huge Home Base Update is coming later. To be continued. . .
2. Gather necessary materials for enchanting (Iron tools to mine diamond, diamond pickaxe to mine obsidian, and at least 1 spare diamond for enchanting table). Also lots of cows for leather to make books for bookshelves.
3. Gather necessary materials and enchant items for Nether (Enchanted armor and weapons, food supply, materials to build nether base, obsidian and flint steel for portal).
The nether allows brewing potions (Nether Warts) and since the enchanting room is already set up before going to the nether everything is ready for end game tasks like the ender dragon, nether fortresses, withers, and ocean monuments.
I also like to find a cool area. Sometimes I am not always spawned in a place to my liking so I set out to find an area that has cool features and mix of biomes. I generally also like to start at coastal areas so I can explore some of the surrounding area via boat.

I meant in the real world geographically. I kknow European servers might be slower for NA users and vice versa, but not sure.
