SlippedGear posted a message on The Skin Request ThreadIf 4J could make it so the current skins could be mixed and matched, swappable heads, legs and torso, just like lego figs, that would be TURBO cool :)!Posted in: MCX360: Discussion -

Speak for yourself. I spawned a world with a mountain range that has 6 ravines cutting into it. All crossing one another. Minecraft is what you make it. If the terrain is boring, do something about it.
I would rather have flatter, more realistic looking biomes than steroid mountains all over my map. -

madanonymous posted a message on My World has been ruined because of this update! I'M OUTRAGED!I think you're over-reacting just a bit. When the update came, I also had a world that I worked on since May. I built two man-made islands out of smooth stone that I, of course, had to mine and smelt with coal that I also mined. The islands were both 64x64 blocks large with a 16x16 64 block high 9 story citadels. Both islands were surrouned by an 8 block high wall. Both had a wheat growing facility with many pistons to harvest them easily. I also had 2 other large villages, one made completely from sandstone in a deser biome. All of my villages and man-made islands were connected with a network of redstone-powered railways. I even built a tunnel under an ocean for my railways. and a monorails from one my citadels directly into my mines. I mined a 16x16x64 block hole in the ground.Posted in: MCX360: Discussion
Of course, I would have loved to build my man-made islands from stone bricks but they were not available until recently so I just built them from smooth stone. But once the update came out and stone bricks were added along with naturally generated structures and swamp biomes, I knew I had to make a new world. The update was inevitable, I knew oneday I had to abandon my old world in light of the new features. So without much hesitation, I bid my old world farewell. I didn't delete it, of course, but I likely won't see it as often.
Because now, I gotta do it all over again. I would love to do it all over again. I'd do it 15 times over again. If I worked 5 months on 15 Minecraft worlds every single time I'd still do it all over again. For me, it's the experience.
You have to let go. Did the lungfish refuse to breathe air? It did not. It crept forth boldly while its brethren remained in the blackest ocean abyss, with lidless eyes forever staring at the dark, ignorant and doomed despite their eternal vigilance. Would we model ourselves on the trilobite? Are all the accomplishments of humanity fated to be nothing more than a layer of broken plastic shards thinly strewn across a fossil bed, sandwiched between the Burgess shale and an eon's worth of mud? You must begin anew. Seek a new project. This is a minor setback. You cannot give up so easily. -

That's only 1 thing in my world. It took about a solid week or two to do over the course of a month. I have plenty of worthwhile* things in my world -

TN55 posted a message on Un-explore map feature for old worlds [ENABLE NEW CONTENT TO GENERATE]I have a much better, simpler, easier on 4J idea: Sack up and start a new world. It isn't going to kill you and you'll always have your old world if you want to go back to it.Posted in: MCX360: Discussion -

ChikkaBowWow posted a message on when is the damn UPDATE!Posted in: MCX360: DiscussionQuote from Holdersofgold
It's not very hard to keep someone informed each day on how the certification is going . Then people wouldn't get so upset! It's the fact that know one says . All they say is its coming . They have millions of people waiting and we are the ones who bought there game and made them rich. The least they could do is have mircosoft let people know how the cert is going rather then leaving everyone in the dark. Come on mircosoft your better then that . I would know I'm from WA and have a friend of a friend who works there
Here, let me give you a preview of what it might look like if they tweeted us every day to let us know how it's going:
October 4 - Cert started!
October 5 - Still in cert! Happy holiday weekend, Microsoft!
October 9 - Update's still in cert!
October 10 - Still in cert!
October 11 - Hot diggity, been a week since we inserted this in cert, and it's still there!
October 12 - Still in cert. Happy weekend!
OCtober 15 - <pending>
Hope that clears up any confusion you may be having about the certification process. -

NinJakeTsu posted a message on Are you going to delete your world for 1.8?This poll is confusing. Does he want to know if we are going to DELETE our old worlds, or just START A NEW ONE. Those are two different options. Therefore, maybe.Posted in: MCX360: Discussion
I'm going to start a new one, but not delete any of my old ones. -

Chum8ler posted a message on My idea for transfering itemsNo they should just increase the map size or at least tell us why they can't. The method you outlined would be a good way of giving the illusion of a larger world, but it's no substitute for the real thing.Posted in: MCX360: Discussion

Minecraft is a game, so let's compare it to other games. When players start to new round of monopoly, they don't carry the money and hotels they bought in a previous game over to the new one. They start over with the standard seed money and build up again from scratch. He with the all of the resources (or most of them when the players decide to end the game) is declared the winner.
By that logic Mass Effect 1 and 2 are completely seperate games, but decisions, levels, and money you earned one carried over to the other. In borderlands 2 you can give one character's stuff to another through claptrap's safe spot. Lots of games with new game + let you keep levels and items. Just because mega-man starts every game with just the buster cannon is no reason why other games can't apply item-sharing between worlds or characters. - To post a comment, please login.

What I do, dig down one block, then dig down two blocks beside the one you're standing on, hop into that hole and repeat untill you have a 2x1 block shaft. That way you're always digging with a solid block under your feet so if you hit lava, a ravine or something, you can always see it before you're falling in it. I always carry two stacks of ladders and build a shaft like this in the back of my houses for branch mining, lining both sides with ladders so people can come and go without shoving each other up and down.
As for one tip? Chop down tons of wood and make a stack of charcoal. Its nice to have a bunch of torches before you go down into caves where most of the real coal is.

You can build your own village, or expand existing ones, and toss villager spawn eggs into the houses to fill them out.

And its not even about Jungles themselves. Even if we don't have the Ocelots and such, once we have the final biome, any further updates should be able to apply to an existing world, barring them creating some new biome exclusive to us. So after Jungles, I can safely invest Survival mode time and effort again. I know, I can always "start a new world". Believe me, Ive had a lot of them. I know thats a part of the game. But I'm ready to find one, perfect seed and settle down to really make use of it safe in the knowledge that it won't become obsolete.

That being said, with free updates to the game itself, skin packs are the only real continued revenue source 4J has, other than new buyers of the game, and a skin editor would undermine those sales. So I wouldn't expect to see one.
