We've been getting great responses and a lot of cool maps have been made. We have decided to open up additional plots for even more maps, bringing our total to 9.

I have finished gravitate22's map enough so its completely playable. So we will be featuring this map to work out any kinks it might have before going back to a rotation.
Weapons at spawn with armor behind the defensive walls and a lava bridge dividing the two teams! This is going to be an amazing arena for some serious team PvP action.
I have noticed that the cpu usage is always super high. It use to be fine just 2 days ago, around 50%, Most times now it's at 100% (I host on mcprohost) Memory (1G) is showing fine at about 50%.
I do have a lot of command blocks running off of fill clocks, and a few slower clocks. I'm assuming the problem is with command blocks because the map has only a few small maps with nothing really happening in them above the redstone. I tried killing all entities that weren't players and there were only a few item frames. So I have to go on its the command blocks / fill clocks.
Also note this is Vanilla MC
Is there anyone that knows a lot about optimizing performance to reduce cpu load with a large number of command blocks, or if it's something else, that could log on and help figure this out?
Any help would be so greatly appreciated!
I've attached a screenshot. There is one super long fill clock right in front. A smaller just behind it to the left, and another in the back right. Then theres the slow clocks right up front.
The super long clock is just a bunch of and/or gates for condition checking, the fill clock on the left, just behind the long one, is a few testfor's and then output some tellraws/titles. The one on the back right is a bunch of scoreboards and effects manipulation.

I was able to create a much better team joiner. This circuit is for a 2 team system.
Here is what it checks for and what it will do
If both teams are empty then assign first player to red team
If both teams have an even number of players then assign next player to red team
If there are more players on red team then assigns next player to blue team
If there are more players on blue team then assigns next player to red team
One last thing I would like to do with this is have it check the scores for when there is an even number of players on each team, and instead of favoring a specific team, have it assign the next player to the lower score team. But for now this works quite well!
Here's a screenshot of the circuitry. I can do a walk through if anyone wants to understand how its doing all this.
With the help of fellow redstoners, we've begun tweaking existing features and adding new ones. We have the countdown timer displayed in sidebar, and every 10 seconds in chat. We've added health to the tab screen and we've begun work on a map rotation system, as well as a lobby system.
If you want to help out please let me know! Would love to see this grow into something amazing!

Thanks to OnTheAttack and friends, the initial map is starting to look awesome! It's getting a complete overhaul, so it wont be available in the map rotation until its complete.
Some changes have been made to iPega's map to improve game play. It is now a Bow only arena, with speed / health boosts in side hallways and bow's available at each teams spawn. We've also got the spectator booth setup so this will be the running map for now until the others are complete.

Fixed some performance issues with fill clocks and redstone torches today thanks to MazeCraft. Server is now running smoother then ever!

OMG MazeCraft!!! You'r amazing... i was going to try to make some funny wording with your name and amazing but I'm not that good lol..
The fill clocks were using air, I switched them to stone and the cpu went from 100% down to 24% instantly.
