Simple question: Do you think 1.8/1.9 terrain generation is worse than 1.7.3?
I think it's a lot worse. I think so because the biomes have really obvious separation, are boring shapes (usually oval/circular) and the terrain to be found in them is extremely predictable. The only thing I like better is the occasional large oceans.
I'll post some screenshots to explain why I feel this way. Here are some screenshots from a 1.7.3 terrain:

You can see that plains, forests, mountains, lakes, etc. blend smoothly into each other and there are various land formations throughout the map
Now the 1.8 screenshots:

You can see that there are obvious separations between biomes, and within each biome the terrain is always almost the same. There are also a lot of unnatural looking holes and weird rock formations that don't make sense. Just open up any 1.8+ seed and you're likely to find the same thing: plains, deserts, pine forests, swamps and treeless mountains all in clearly-defined bubbles.
I personally think it's incredibly boring.

Some people don't seem to understand that constructive cricticism isn't "ARGH I HATE YOUR THOUGHS USE MINE INSTEAD", because as I said myself, everyone makes up a story for Minecraft. It's part of the game. But things like "I think x, period" and "The game doesn't suggest that" aren't constructive at all. It has no basis, no argument, no reason unless thinking your opinion is fact. And that's really bad.
I need more people like mindtruster and less people like LordSipia.
