In 1.6.5 Notch eliminated the version number display on the main screen. Before that there was a small mod to do the same thing. Now with 1.8 the display is back. I find it mildly distracting and would prefer to turn it off. Can anyone make a mod to either hide the version number on the main screen, or make it toggle-able? Or, if it already exists, point me to it. I've searched and can't find one, but don't claim to be perfect.
I'll go with the whole fantasy/other reality option and suggest years there probably aren't numbered, but named. It might be the Year of the Charged Creeper, or possibly the Year of the Saddled Pig.
You know, I have no problem imagining sometime in the future people who are now making posts complaining about as yet not fully revealed feature making posts like: "Can you believe that back in 2011 people used to play this game with no NPCs? How boring and pointless that must have been."
Diamonds and Redstone spawn around the same levels. Redstone is a lot more common (in my experience). If you find Redstone, that lets you know you're at the right levels. Just dig out horizontally from there. A you need is patience and luck.

My Steve is enlightened (or very stupid) and has set out to prove everyone else wrong by circumnavigating the cube(?). Is that even possible?
