posted a message on Snapshot 12w15a - Secret Changelog

Can you read? He provided reasons for his hypothesis. He never said new is wrong, he said more bugs have popped up when bukkit joined the team. Which is true, after all.

Nice of you to imply I'm illiterate. And yes I'm aware he provided situational claims about bugginess and relating it to the Bukkit team, but I don't see where they connect, really. Team Bukkit is just helping with the mod API and streamlining multiplayer - the two things they're best at.

Besides. Minecraft got pretty glitchy when Jens began adding new things, but few people blamed him specifically. So why start this trend now?

Is it just me, or is it when bukkit showed up, things started to get done incorrectly and bugs popped up everywhere? I mean when world edit wasn't updated I could still use it for stone bricks and their other "forms", however the planks arent compatable with world edit at all. Everything is being done wrong and this is extremely counter productive.

So apparently "new" is "wrong" and we should just keep everything unaltered to appease those afraid of change.

Any chance of further performance enhancements on the Nvidia 310M? I'm aware it's not exactly top grade but I just know it's capable of much, much more than just ~15fps.

If I'm able to play vanilla Minecraft maxed at ~90fps, Skyrim at mid-high and get ~25fps, and Oblivion/Fallout3 maxed out and get about 35, something somewhere has to be going wrong to eat this much framerate...

    Nvidia 310M
    Intel Core i5 2.4Ghz
    4GB RAM

Runs at least playable (~12FPS), but just LOOK AT IT.

I'm also using Optifine with increased view distance and everything but the clouds set to Fast. Without Optifine I get about 8FPS, and that's WITHOUT the 3x range.

Use one shorter few distance than with double. Don't use load far as MC will attempt to load chunks until you run out of ram and then your framerate plummets.

That's the thing, I AM. At 3x Tiny, I'm getting far worse framerate than I was at 2x Normal, which is much, much bigger.

The heck's going on? I even turned off Load Far...

Far view triples the view distance.

Um... Yes but, what if I only want double?

Besides, even with the smallest distance using 3xDD, I get worse performance than with that mod... Am I doing something wrong?

Any way I could get good old OptiFine working with the Double Draw Distance mod?

Sorry for the double post, but the edit button's gone away on my last one for some reason. Anyway, just thought I'd share this...

I'd never known just how beautiful the Inndael countryside is... Even one of the earliest portions of my earliest map looks amazing once you can see twice as much of it. Wow... I'm not ditching this mod any time soon.

I used your exact link. It brought me to this page:

    http://download.cnet.com/Java-Runtime-Environment-JRE-64-Bit/3000-18481_4-75317067.html

Upon downloading their stupid proprietary download helper thing, the utility proceeded to download Java64 1.7.0_01. I think what's going on is that the Cnet thing I downloaded is designed to fetch the latest version no matter what, thereby nabbing the beta. It might have been the stable release when you posted the link, but... Now it most certainly isn't.

Found a fresh Java reinstall guide though, so that's been done. It's working well now, at least. My only gripe is that this and OptiFine aren't compatible. Massive draw distance combined with superior optimization and graphical tweaks could mean that with the two active, I could achieve the same framerate as I do in vanilla's Far. Is it possible to look at making them play nice?

Yeah I just downgraded to 2.8.1. Realized that was the problem as soon as I posted :biggrin.gif:

How exactly does one go about downgrading? I haven't seen a single thread on that subject.

    Hey, guess what.

I tried the mod, and it worked FANTASTICALLY... Until it stopped. See, it was a little laggy, so I downloaded the 64-bit Java VM that you linked to in the thread (I run 64-bit Win7), and now Minecraft won't even load. It just gives me this.

          Minecraft has crashed!

It actually does this for each file changed, it's just that it only reports the first conflict it encounters for some reason. This ONLY started happening after installing the VM you suggested. Before that, it was fine, and there's no option to downgrade that I can find anywhere. Ugh... Why did I listen?

EDIT: It's breaking every other mod I have as well, and it's severely lagging Minecraft.

DON'T DOWNLOAD THE 64-BIT JAVA VERSION LISTED IN THE THREAD
UNTIL THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN ADDRESSED

It's actually not a heavy hat, it's for all classes. It's just that they only have a heavy image currently.

And to clear up confusion, the description doesn't lie. It's the only one, and it's in Notch's backpack.

    Quote from Hurricaaane

MAtmos don't have enough capability to determine if a player is in a fight stance; It is actually "possible" but the amount of false positive would be insanely higher than when MAtmos accidentally recognizes a beach in the middle of a desert

You're sure this can't be done just by checking to see if a monster is currently 'targeting' you? I'm pretty certain it's a specific enough event to hook into. If a monster is locked onto and approaching you, play a sort of creeping ambiance. Something like...

I'm assuming to preserve their sneakiness, creepers would be excluded from this trigger. Again, I don't see much of a reason why it can't work, since I've seen other more dedicated mods that hook into just that event to play music...
