The servers are all a little wacked until minecraft.net comes back up. For some reason, even after you authenticate, it still needs to communicate with the minecraft.net server before connecting to someone elses server.
It won't even connect to my server, which is one hop away through a gigabit switch, so lag shouldn't be an issue.
Agreed. With how much cash he has made off of people ordering the game, he should have plenty of monies to get a decent server with a decent connection that can actually handle the bandwidth/server load that is required.
With that said, maybe he is transferring to the new server now and that's why its not working.
I think it has something to do with the login server being down at the moment. When I click connect, it sits there for 10 seconds during which I can't do anything witht he program. after the 10 seconds though, it states that it is unable to connect to the server and asks me what I would like to do.
