    Tell me about it.

I'm at a LAN party right now, and we were just about to start the Minecraft tournament, but no one can connect.

I have no issues with my server. Make sure you have the latest drivers for your ethernet is all I can think of.

Is your computer connected directly to the router/modem, or does it go through a switch? If it goes through a switch, make it go direct to the router. Some switches do not work well with MC.

I have anywhere between 5 to 10 people on my server ususally (sometimes gets up to about 15 to 20 people), and the only thing that starts to lag is the hard drive from loading and sending the map to everyone.

posted a message on Help on my server. i dont believe is a hard solution?
Same thing happened to my server. Everything was running fine. I went to dinner, and when I came back, Minecraft server was no longer running. So, I restarted it, and it started to throw that error at me ALL THE TIME!

I have even tried loading backup maps from days and weeks ago, but they all complain about blocks not being int he right spot before it gives me teh same Unexpected Exception message again.

If I start the server and let it make a new map, everythign works fine. But, I have about 10 people who use my server, and they have built some nice stuff, and I don't want to loose anything. The map is currently just under 400MB.

Any ideas? I have tried loading the map in single player, but all it does is max out my CPU and give me one frame every 5 minutes. And the map looks really weird, like chuncks not in the right spots.

I don't think there is a free offline Alpha mode, but you can play the Classic mode on the website. Its more or less the same.

I updated the Java JRE along with the standard Java, and that appeared to fix most of my client issues.

Go to https://cds.sun.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.en ... _Developer and download the installer for your OS. Thats what I did.

I would not be surprised if your school purposely didn't install the drivers for the graphics just for this reason. Everyone would be able to play all sorts of games, which is not why you go to school.

Get a good education, don't get distracted. Who knows, you may end up the next Notch, making the next hit game.

posted a message on Server issues, please help!
Ever since the last update, my server has been experiencing some drastic problems.

When mining blocks, the block disappears just to reappear instantly. This will happen 3 or 4 times with a block before it goes away. This does not happen with every block.

Boats work, people can see them, but for some reason, the map does not load for the person driving the boat. It just stops, even if the section of the map is a previously generated section. If they drive off of the map, their client crashes, and when they log back on, they can see their old self still sitting int he boat, and that 2nd person stays there until the server is restarted.

Minecarts glitch the same as boats mentioned above.

Finally, the server crashed after I went boating for a little while (I never touched the edge of the map, stopped about 20 blocks away). I would get out of the boat, wait for the map to load, then continue on with the boat. I did this for about 30 minutes looking for clay, and it worked fine. I almost had a full inventory of clay balls. Then, the server disconnects me and everyone connected to it. We reconnect and find the map as it was about 45 minutes ago, all my clay gone, the work people had been working on, gone. It was as if the entire server crashed and restarted on its own, but the console said nothing. I was watching it the entire time on my 2nd monitor. Everyone just dropped, reconnected, and then the yelling started.

I am running the latest version of the MineCraft server through MCAdmin with the Hey0 mod. I have been running this server for almost a month now, and nothing like this has happened before.

The server gets 4GB of my 8GB RAM, but only 5 people connect at a time. My CPU is the core 2 Quad Q9550 2.83GHz quad core.

The map file size is about 350MB, but my hard drive is 500GB and in prime condition, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Anyone have any ideas on why it is doing this or how I can fix it? I have several people who use this server, and they are worried now about loosing more of their work in the future.

posted a message on Save multiplayer servers
Just as the name suggests. Have the game remember the last 5 servers you connected to and list them when you click Multiplayer. That way, you don't need to type a long address every time, or remember a complicated one or something. Have them list just like the single player world lists, but instead of having a "Delete world" button, have a text box for entering a new server to connect to.

Just a thought, its very possible this will come when the game gets out of Alpha.

Something that could be added is a craftable headlamp that the user puts on their head like a helmet. It would provide light only in the direction they are facing. This could be use full for people who mine a lot or if they want to keep working during the night but don't want to have to stop to make and place torches.

Make the recipe something like an upside down bucket with a torch on top or something like that.

So, when this update comes out, will current servers be able to continue with the update, or will they need to start from scratch?

I run a multiplayer server for the on campus gaming org, and people are worried about loosing the stuff they have made when the update comes out.
