I know very very very little about mac (I think I can turn the one on we have in the house...)
I know the one we have minecraft works with java 7. But like you many people get that error, normally for those people using java 6 works. Maybe it has something to do with the OSX version and java 7 not being compatible or OSX+JAVA 7+LWJGL not working together. idk.
You are doing something wrong with Magic Launcher then.
It isn't loading TMI into the jar, it's placing it in the mods folder.
I think that is why it shows it as a .zip file.
That's not the way the minecraft/forge logs work, they don't care about how you store the file prior to magic launcher loading it. Once it's loaded by Magic launcher it would show that it was loaded into the jar.
Notice how that one has (minecraft.jar) that is how the minecraft/forge logs register a mod being loaded into the jar. It would also show in the log prior to the (coremods) forge and FML both show with (coremods)
Try loading your mods manually or check out MultiMC, it's more user friendly in my opinion.
Are they from the video card manufacturer or from microsoft (windows update/device manager)?
Microsoft strips openGL support from video drivers before distributing them. They want to force developers to use DirectX instead of openGL.
So yes, most games will work with the MS provided drivers, because those other games run on DirectX. Minecraft doesn't, it uses OpenGL.
The drivers you get from the video card manufacturers site will include openGL support.
Make sure you are using the same version of thaumcraft as the server.
If you still have problems you should probably take this to the FTB forums. They have more information about their packs, and are more likely to have the solution.

But my best advice is to try java 6.

It would show up in the log like MCP

Beyond that, tekkit questions are better asked on the tekkit forums.
