"I never said it was your fault." Godric continued arguing. "I don't even hate cities. I can't say I care if you live in this city if you want to. But you can't invalidate my right to live in and defend my spot in the wilds at the same time."

((It would be nice if Godric could pick up a new weapon, and maybe some armor.

Course, that begs the question of why Kaleth would spare money to get him equipment.))

((I guess I'll start at some random part of an argument. Kaleth can find us whenever.))

"Oh, that again, Alyssa?" Godric was calmly debating with the elementalist. They were walking through the marketplace, with Godric's eye mostly on the lookout for any herb or light weapon shops. "Would you care to explain how you're better than me, just for living in a city? A city, mind you, that was built over the burnt and destroyed remains of what was once wilderness?"

((I apologize if this seems like I'm taking control of Alyssa.))

((I, in fact, have been keeping tabs on this topic this whole time. Lacking old gear to sell, I just don't really have anything of value I can do in town...except anger the elf-hating barbarian (And Alyssa). I should enjoy that one.))

((So, before I make an in-game post, I would like to confirm with rainbow_girl, I was going to just assume Godric was with Alyssa(Which probably means they're arguing). Any problems?))

((Considering the witch and what happened to Bert...I'm quite glad I made an agile Elven character now.))

((I have read everything up to this point, but really can't think of anything to post at the moment. I'll have something later, though.))

((If we do get accessories, I think that each character should only get to use one at a time. Might not make sense(People have ten fingers for ten rings, and could probably wear more than one amulet with only slight discomfort), but I personally don't want to keep track of all of my accessories.))

((Also, I know I've been absent for a little bit.))

Godric turned and ran back towards the group after he heard the fighting stop. He was very much relieved that nobody was killed by that feral dwarf, though he didn't try to show it.

"I'd say those that fought the dwarf should choose whether we leave or stay." Godric suggested. "I'm not sure if they were injured or not."

"How could such a labyrinth have been built right under my home?" Godric muttered, astounded by the sheer, constantly expanding size of the place. He spoke up shortly after. "I suppose north would be the way to go."

Godric stayed behind the Thragons in the group, who were clearly more suited to fighting the imposter. Nevertheless, though, Godric readied his weapons. When he had the opportunity to attack, he would.

posted a message on how exactly does this work?

I'll explain the basics as well as I can, but much of roleplaying comes from observing and participating. First, let me point out, it's generally better to participate in, at the very least, one or two roleplays before you create one yourself. Doesn't have to have been here(If you came from another forum where you roleplayed, etc.), but it'll be clear whether or not you've been in one.

Let's start with the very basics. Role(a part or character)Playing(Should be obvious). Roleplaying is the art(or game) of taking the role of a character in a story written by and alongside other people doing the same. As a player, you start by creating a character. This character is your character, and you write out his/her actions in the world of the RP you joined. If you frequent the forum games, you may have already participated in an extremely casual version of an RP without knowing it.

The best way to learn how to roleplay is to join one. Observe the other roleplayers and how they structure their posts. Post as your own character. If the other roleplayers offer you advice, listen. And don't be afraid to ask for advice, either.

I hope I've provided enough for you to join a roleplay and start learning. If you need more advice, I would recommend either

    • PMing me. I'm an experienced roleplayer, and I've participated in a good deal of roleplays, both on the casual and experienced level. I'm willing to answer any questions about roleplaying you might have.
    • The General Roleplaying Discussion and Information Thread, which is always at the top of the Roleplaying forum thread list, is the best place to ask these questions, as many roleplayers are more than happy to answer any questions you have there.

((If you are looking for suggestions for new modifiers, I can suggest some things such as Mp, magic power, magic defense, and defense bonuses and/or penalties for various weapons. Or benefits to certain skills. Possibly other various effects. For example, long melee weapons, such as spears, might have initiative on the first attack because it can hit the opponent before they are close enough to strike.

As for that small bonus, I guess that's up to you, but it sounds weird to reward us in game for recognizing a reference that has little to do with the game.))

The room that the group just entered seems to bear very little of interest. There is a closed door on the north side of the room, but Godric has been keeping track, and that is in the same direction they found the Basilisk, though there is no guarantee it's the same room. "Let's see." He spoke, pondering aloud. "We could go back to the room behind us, or go through that door, assuming it's unlocked. In my personal opinion, I believe it'd be safer to go back and try another door."

((Let's see...3 doors on each side...That means six in total, and from the sounds of it, three on the west wall(To our right if we're facing the south wall) and three on the east wall(To our left). None on the south wall, and the door we came in from is on the north wall. Correct?))((I was, in fact, completely wrong.))

Godric was relieved that the battle finished. He isn't used to fighting; He could only assume that he missed the gobling because he was panicking. Examining the room, it seems there is yet another decision to make. Which door should the group go down? As much as he hated to think it, odds are, the monster in the previous room is not the only one of it's kind in the cave, and a wrong choice in door could lead to finding another one.

"Bert, I don't think it's quite as simple as 'pick one and hope for the best'" Godric stated. "Sadly, it seems it may just come down to that, and in that case, I'd say the door in the middle."

Relieved to have gotten away from the monster in the room behind them, Godric was only infuriated by the presence of the Gobling in front of them."What other choice do we have?" He pointed out to the woman in the group. "We can't just avoid every fight we come across." He held his sickle, ready to strike at the green creature if it got too close.

Godric paused upon hearing the fierce growling ahead of him. He stood, ready to fight, but when he caught a glimpse of the reptilian monster in the opening, he realized a sickle would do nothing for him. "I-I can agree with that!" He said, panicking. "We need to run!" He ran as fast as he could towards the southern door, hoping his elven speed wouldn't fail him this time.

((The dungeon is entirely controlled by the dice? Could create some weird occurrences, but alright. Sounds fun.

Chipping in here to say that I am keeping up with this everyday, but not always is posting a good idea. Mostly I was waiting for Rainbow_Girl to have Alyssa introduce herself, but now we're in a dungeon.))

Godric followed the group into the cave, sticking near the back of the group. He kept his sickle out, prepared in case a fight was necessary.

As the group arrived at the long corridor-like room, Godric said nothing, only kept an eye and ear out for danger or anything of note.

"Yes, yes. Name's Godric." Godric introduced himself. "And I thank you for allowing me to accompany you for now. Might I have the pleasure of knowing the names of you and your companions?"
