Mine is an interesting story, but only for those actually interested in learning the reason why the white-haired sovereign is named as he is. If you asked me, my short answer would be "Because the character I created myself is named Heric." But his name origin is tied to my own.
It started a long time ago. Maybe when I was 8. Not sure. I joined my first ever online community. Neopets. As I had to think up a good username to join, I jumped to the first thing that popped into my head.
Supercute.
Of course, my brother was aiding me in creating my account, and I understood the wisdom when he said I might be mistaken for a girl with that username. So I chose instead something long enough to remember, but easy enough to say. Thus, on neopets, I am now Hereicomenow.
A few years later, we discovered a fan site with a great community on it's forums. As I know some forums are rather touchy about mentioning other forums, I shall not name the site. Regardless, the community was great, and it was my first taste of roleplaying. Naturally, my name, still being hereicomenow, was rather long, so it got abbreviated time and time again. Comenow was the most common one. I believe sometimes it got abbreviated as Here, HICN, and some others. But then, one member abbreviated it in a way no one had before.
Heric.
This name had a nice ring to it. Short, yet cool. Thus, after promptly thanking them for the new name, I switched mine to...Dark Heric. While everyone still called me Heric, I use Dark Heric, or Lord Heric, as an alternate name when my five-letter persona is already taken. Which I'm pretty sure it hadn't been taken, but still...(The Dark/Lord prefix was more a representation of preferring the dark side when it came to fantasy)
I don't remember who called me it first. It may very well have been my best friend on that forum, who addressed herself as 'Moogi'. Might have been Raven/Valka. Maybe even _johnpaul, an old RPing buddy.
If anyone recognized me anywhere else, feel free to give me a holler here or there. Also, if the place has a searchbar, just type in 'Heric'. Heck, I bet you could google my name, and find my material(Albeit mostly here.)

This is kind of interesting to me. My online gaming began in the mid 90's with mudding, and there is certainly a tendency to go through the three classic three stages of apprentice, journeyman, and master levels of play. In the game Ancient Anguish where I cut my mudding teeth, getting to level 20 quickly and efficiently sort of marked your arrival at the journeyman level, and then if you ever got to the point where you were counting how much experience an hour you were making and were measuring up to the top level players, that was basically Master level.
No one used these terms. I'm just sort of borrowing a traditional terminology because I'm all Medieval like that.
Anyhow, long story short, I do not think it is psychologically possible for the human being to operate without measuring and labeling people as to their relative abilities. Therefore, I disagree that mods that tweek functionality encourage this behavior. They just shift it to emphasize a different aspect of the game.
In the end, xp farming is going to be the inescapable measure so long as xp has anything at all to do with improving either the character or its equipment. So welcome back to xp/hour measures. Minecraft will quite possibly get to the point where you farm xp and resources to make equipment to kill bigger monsters that give more xp to make better equipment, etc etc etc.
In fact, putting together a mob engine that has the capacity to just create bigger, badder, and meaner mobs in an automatic arms race sort of cycle and that are worth more xp when you kill them would put the capstone on that particular aspect of the game.
I get what you are saying. However, my stance stays the same. I have no personal hatred of this mod, nor do I look down on anyone using it, but I do not like this mod, and could not see myself using it, single or multiplayer.
As long as it stays off of the good servers of mine, I still have no problem with it. -

This mod just encourages that. Now, it's no longer finding someone who has one, or extreme luck. Now, it's create it yourself, because it's that simple. And anyone who can't is now a n00b.Posted in: News
Probably making it sound worse than it is, but this just encourages "God kit or n00b" environments, in my opinion.
Still, a new mod for the people who want it is always welcome. I just hope it doesn't invade my servers. - To post a comment, please login.

Quickman, though unable to be heard, could be seen trying to hack at the containment field with no avail.
Abandoned Lab(Second Floor)
The Sniper Joe's almost pursued the elevator, except the Hammer Joe called them back. "That wasn't Megaman. That was Slimeman, one of Wily's bots." The other Joes seemed to facepalm simultaneously. "Megaman's late!"

Heric was running along with the group, watching as one by one, each guard is being slaughtered by his allies. Naturally, this upset him, almost as much as when Toby had let the first guard sound the alarm. He did however, get his chance. One guard ran up in front, gun pointed at him. He quickly extended water from his canteen, tipped with sharpened ice at the front, stabbing right through where the guards heart would be, dropping the guard quickly. Another guard appeared, quicker to shoot than the last. Heric responded to this quickly with a shield of his gelatinous water, absorbing the bulletfire until the guy ran out of bullets. At that point, Heric turned his water to ice, and one by one, shot sharp tips of ice out, having a similar effect and speed to machine gun fire, rapidly landing in various vital spots in the guards torso. Though I probably don't have to include this, the guard had a rather quick and painful death.

This was a random post here. Does it have any point? No. Does it make sense? No. Does anything else on this thread make sense?
On the other hand, who likes potatoes?

Heric pondered the choice of weapons highly. Naturally, he wished to complain, but judging it not to be the best time to complain about lethal weaponry, he kept quiet. He looked around at his selections. There were swords, guns, grenades, and many others, including some weapons that didn't even look like weapons. Some of them he had to watch as they were activated to figure them out, like his Spiked Frisbee, as he's now dubbed it. He didn't like the idea of such liabilities, which would not keep up with him when he turned to liquid very easily, but he figured the likelyhood was that they would help. He eventually decided to grab two of the spiked discs. He also grabbed a simple combat knife.

Abandoned Lab(Second Floor)
The Sniper Joes hit a button on the elevator, causing it to stop at the second floor, despite the commands given inside the elevator. A Hammer Joe behind the bunch threw a hammer into the elevator door, ripping through it. "Megaman shall be terminated today!" The Hammer Joe yelled out, and the other Joe's let out a cheer. Unbeknownst to them, of course, it wasn't Megaman that was in the elevator.

((Oh, and Evanist, I was thinking, I noticed Light Fang is good against Ghost, Dark, so far nothing's resistant to it, and I still have not a clue of the effect. In addition, You are pure Light-Type? Cause you yourself seem to be resistant to Ghost, I'm guessing Dark, and weak to nothing. So, what exactly IS it good against, weak against, resistant to, weak to, etc. As well, what about Light fang? What does it do?))
((I spent all day rereading this, so no IC post for now.))

"Megaman, it's a tra-"
"Let's not have any distractions, now." 'Umbraman' interrupted, pulling a lever on a nearby control panel, causing the barrier to thicken, soundproofing the chamber Quickman was housed in. "Game on, Megaman!" He shot several buster shots off towards Megaman, all with oddly impeccable accuracy, considering the darkness.

"If I may ask, Master," Depthman asked, "Why did you tell me to attack such an unimportant navi?"
"Because, Depthman, these virus merchants are weaklings." Heric responded to his navi. "If they can't even stand up in a fight, they shouldn't be wandering the net."

Ravenman navigated around the building easily, his thermal visor almost always active to enable better vision. Though there wasn't too many heat signatures, it was still better than stumbling around in the dark. He carried Quickman up to the third floor, placing him within the containment field. The field rose around him, keeping Quickman from leaving once he was conscious.
As soon as that had been done, he took his position on the third floor, waiting in the darkest part of the room.
Abandoned Lab(Present time)(Third Floor)
Ravenman noticed Megaman had entered the building, hearing the noises coming from the lower floors. "Perfect...He's arrived."
"This plan will never work!" Quickman said, now conscious. "Megaman will defeat you, and you'll be yet another one of Dr. Wily's failures!"
"Ah, I see you're awake. On the contrary, I believe this will be Megaman's last battle."
"You're cockier than I was."
"Quiet!" Ravenman blasted the containment field with his buster, causing Quickman to flinch.
Abandoned Lab(Second Floor)
Several Sniper Joes line up outside the Elevator, waiting to ambush Megaman once he has reached their floor. There are also several Mettaurs sitting around the room.

Ravenman searched around, Buildings, landmarks, for somewhere to hold Quickman, and, naturally, lay a trap for Megaman. He discovered an odd building, yet upon closer examination, was the perfect candidate. An old, abandoned tech lab. He entered. The entire place was dimly lit, thanks to an emergency power that had been running a bit too long. The place was huge, though the reason it was abandoned became obvious as he looked closer, noting many dangers around the lab, The main example being a machine producing a haze that contained toxic gases. Apparently it had malfunctioned, and was not contained properly. There were a few other malfunctioning machines, but the toxic haze seemed the most notable. Ravenman looked around for a suitable place to contain Quickman, knowing his weaknesses. He found a containment field on the third floor built into the wall, which appeared to have been shut down. When he tried to turn it on, it rose slowly, but surely enough, turned on and worked fine. As it appears, either the emergency power was designed to keep it running, or it ran on a separate power source.
"This is perfect. The perfect place to hold him, and it suits my abilities just fine." Ravenman teleported back to Dr. Wily's lab.
"Well?!" Wily seemed impatient. "Have you found a-"
"Yes, Doctor." Ravenman quickly responded. "The perfect location has been located."
"Well done, Ravenman. Faster than I expected, but I trust you have not sacrificed quality for speed." Wily pulled out Quickman from a small chamber. "Take Quickman."
Ravenman teleported back to the abandoned lab.

He arrived, and it wasn't a forest. He learned that it was a swamp, and a rather nasty one, too. He saw a sign covered in dust and grime, just to his right. He wiped off the muck and dust, and it appeared to read, faintly, "MISERY MIRE." The directions weren't needed, but the sign was one of those signs that pointed in the direction, and it pointed directly into the swamp. All the other signs on that post were worse for the wear. As Tek wiped off the grime from each one, most of them were unintelligible. One was better than most, but all it read was "AL...WN" Everything else had been worn off with age. The sign with the worn words pointed north.
Naturally, Tek was disappointed. The one place he finds with a decent landmark has no directions back to Allure Town, and he also has no clue what the Misery Mire he just found is, nor where it is compared to Allure Town. Hesistantly, he wandered into the mucky swamp. If he was lucky, he might find somebody who could help him with directions.

"Not yet, Doctor" Ravenman said immediately.
"Than I suggest you go find one!"
"Yes, Doctor!" Ravenman teleported back into the city, unknowingly in near the Wilybots Mageman was attacking. He almost got hit by the magic missle, and took off.
