    The best Xmas gift I can get is, knowing that I helped someone, somewhere, in some small way. Thanks for letting me do that.

    Super excited? Great, just watch out for that creepe........oops :P

    Happy xmas.

    When can I tour Hampton Court Palace? :-) Just kidding...mostly kidding. Looks real nice though.

    The following is slightly off-topic (of fixing yours) - feel free to ignore it but,

    Well-known MC YouTuber "docm77" has been involved in a project to recreate a version of the city of Kiel (which is in Germany), so I'm posting the following link, 'coz you might be interested.

    The current version of java is 8.

    Java 9 is a forthcoming version; right now it's available for testing.

    It does not play well with Minecraft.

    Like the dude said, use Java 8.

    i think i found the problem which is i have the windows 10 edition of minecraft so it looks like i need to get hte java verison.

    i thought all verisons were cross platforms lol

    lw1991 Hi, I wanted to reply to your issue, but in doing so,it has turned into a bit of a rant. Apologies for that; if you are not interested in the background. That said, here's my reply;

    Aww, sucks. Another victim of marketing hype.

    Before 2017, "Minecraft" was the PC version. Sure, there were other versions on consoles and stuff, but the usual full-on game was on a PC. It was (and is) written in Java. The others...proprietary code... were called like "Minecraft: Xbox Edition", "Minecraft: Playstation Edition" and so on. Fine fine.

    One of the other versions was "Minecraft: Windows 10 edition". Mickey plugged that HARD - they gave it free to anyone who bought the real version. It also caused confusion for PC users; if you had Windows 10 OS, surely you needed that 'edition'. Which was, mostly, crap compared to true Minecraft.

    Then they did the marketing thing; they made "bedrock" AKA "better together" so that EVERYONE can play...as long as you're on Windows 10, or Xbox 1 (but not 360!) or a bunch of phones. They tried to get Sony (PS4) involved, but nah.

    (Notice that's just for Mickey$oft consoles and Windoze 10? Monopoly abuse much?)

    The marketing spiel part of this story is, they called their new thing "Minecraft". Yes, really. And they renamed the true version, "Minecraft: Java Edition".

    The update (for eggs-boxes etc.) was called "Better together" - because now, people on Windows 10, phones, and egg boxes could play together. Meanwhile, true Minecraft is very happily apart.

    "New" Minecraft v "True" Minecraft

    3 servers v 10,000+ servers

    'add-ons' (for $$$microtransactions$$$) give limited changes (skins, maps) - proprietary

    v mods (free, tens of thousands, can utterly change the game, indie

    History lesson: Mickey$oft has previously had a policy of "Embrace, extend, and extinguish"

    I hope somebody can help me because I was happy with the server for play during holidays, and I feel bad without play it. Thanks!!

    You list 18 mods.

    Remove half; fixed? OK, so add half the others back. Not OK? Remove half what is left.

    Work out which mod causes the issue.

    Sounds hard and long-winded? Not really; 18-9-5-3-2-1 Max of 6 tries to narrow it down.

    has been dong this for the past months

    Hi. I'm very sorry to hear about your dong problems.

    The error looks like an overloaded server. It could be something else, but that's less likely.

    So...who is your host? If it's a hosted MC server, I suggest shouting at them. If it's your own server, that's a different matter which we can pursue.

    posted a message on Can't Resolve Host Name (Mac)
    Quote from ZephyrrStorm»

    Hi, so today I tried to connect to the server mc.grian.net, but an error message popped up saying "Can't Resolve Host Name." I am able to connect to any other server, and usually whenever this error message shows up, I am able to just reload Minecraft and it works. I've tried reloading Minecraft, using direct connect, clearing my DNS cache, and rebooting my computer. Also, whenever I ping the server in terminal using the cmd "ping mc.grian.net," it says "Can't Resolve Host Name. I've looked everywhere, but most online support is for Windows, and all of the support for Mac is for OS X Yosemite or earlier (I'm currently running High Sierra). So, I came looking for help on here. If anyone can, please help!!!

    Hi.

    Please try doing "Direct Connect" to this IP address;

    54.38.41.205

    That is what "mc.grian.net" resolves to, for me. If you can connect to that, but not to the name, that indicates a DNS problem, but hey, if it works, it works.

    Happy Xmas.

    posted a message on Minecraft keeps freezing

    Whats a dxdiag log? Is that even an actual thing?

    Why do you guys expect me to know what any of this is? Im not a computer programmer. Im just a kid. OK? So can you at least tell me what any of this means, and how I can fix my problem?

    Hi NamelessGuy6999

    Your computer is pretty old. It doesn't have a graphics card. The graphics are built in.

    Intel do that a lot. It's a little chip on the motherboard. They are not very good.

    It might not be good enough to play Minecraft.

    We can check that for you, but we need more information;

    Here is how to give us that info.

    Sorry that it's not working. If you give us that info, we can check.

    You might be able to play older versions of Minecraft.

    You can choose those by making a profile in the launcher. Try version 1.6.4 (which is old, but works on old computers)

    Happy Xmas.

    posted a message on White Screen After Launching Minecraft

    Yea, I know my computer is wayyyyyyyy too old to play minecraft.

    But it used to work, about 15 days ago.

    Sozzzz I still have hope.

    You might be able to run older versions. You can quite easily choose those in the launcher; make a profile and choose e.g. "1.6.4".

    Suggest you work forwards from that until in breaks (and actually is playable); also suggest you then get the relevant ver of OptiFine.

    My guess is, 15 days ago, you were playing on an older version; whether that'll work going forwards is a different question - and of course, it's not supported.

    Happy to help try to get you working though.

    I highly recommend you see if 1.64 will work. If so, cool, we have a benchmark.

    Trust me, you can have 100s of hours of fun in 1.64

    I started creating a 1:1 scale model of Hampton Court Palace

    has disappeared

    Thanks for any and all suggestions! I'd really hate to start over.

    Hello.

    Huge respect for such an insane endeavour, would love to tour it one day.

    Best hope: seach your mac for ".mca".

    Tell it to search for hidden/system files; tell it to search the entire drive. Just find anything with that string. How to do so is not my area of expertise; Google is much better.

    Best of luck.

    When I launching minecraft it doesn't open, but in Task Manager shows that it is open. What to do? Help

    Update the graphics driver, from the manufacturer, not from "Windows Update".

    So: If you have an nvidia card, head to nvidia.com; if it's an intel card, go to intel.com.

    If you can't figure it out, post a DxDiag.

    If it still crashes, post a crash log AND a DxDiag.

    To get a crash log, see pic below;

    the one you provided will not work

    Yeah, that happens sometimes :-(

    Don't despair.

    You can get around that by manually installing the driver. (WARNING: This may cause unexpected explosions, global warming, and trees that bear sheep as fruit)

    Non-joking response... back up anything super-important (but you already did, surely...) then do this;
