I finally saved up enough money to finish purchasing computer parts (I guess I will have to wait a few more months before I upgrade my phone).
So, what is the best AM3+ motherboard on the market? I am talking about reliability here, not necessarily overclocking performance but how long it will last and how long it will perform well.
Also, what is better, the AMD FX-6300 or the AMD-FX-4350? There is a marginal $10 difference but the more expensive one has fewer cores and higher power consumption but faster clock speed. Both would certainly be upgrades vs my Intel Q6600.

    --Ocram

You necroed so hard you brought me back from the dead.

The FX-6300 has the superior architechture and should be better overall for gaming. Another option is the i3-3220 if you don't mind Intel.

Sorry I can't suggest a motherboard. I've been dead too long to know which are the good ones.

I myself have 3 broken laptops, my sister has 3 broken laptops, my dad has 2 broken laptops, and we as a family have a broken mac (it's from like 2004, don't dis kai?)

The only working form to the internet I have at my mums is this. Can't wait to get my PC..

No dissing was intended. I was just surprised a regular on this board only had a single laptop in their house.

And it turns out you have more than a single laptop in your house anyway. :Þ

    That I use? One desktop.

Fully functioning? Two desktops and two laptops.

    Not quite fully functioning?

    Desktop - Dead CMOS battery
Desktop - Networking issues (may have fixed this one)
    Desktop - Iffy HDD
Desktop - HDDs gutted for spares, but otherwise fine
Laptop - No working OS installed
    Laptop - Heating issues
Laptop - BIOS says battery isn't calibrated
Laptop - HDD refuses to load Windows on some occasions
    Laptop - Bad ethernet port

    Quote from Mhyles
    1 Laptop. ;)

What are you doing on this board? :o

By workers I assume he meant software/driver developers.

Even then most software developers speak at least a little bit of English since most languages use English for their statements. "If', "for", "while", "else", and "print" are decidedly English words. You could argue that knowing five words does not mean you know English, but there are also many more libraries that use English for their function names than libraries that use another language.

Anyway, is it normal for text in alert bubbles to have an indent like that? It looks a bit strange and it might be why the end of the sentence looks like it's been cut.

You have to remember though I bet most of the workers aren't even english-speaking.

The workers aren't the ones writing messages for the alert bubbles.

Only thing I found with Ubuntu is that i was extremely annoying to install things. Might have just been me though..

How were you installing things? Most well-known programs can just be installed through the Software Centre, which is similar to Apple's App Store. Other than that, there's Synaptic Package manager and the CLI installers apt-get and aptitude.

No, we just don't really care enough to screw around with each other.

Why anger another person needlessly? Pretty childish.

Precisely. Who better to vent childishness on than the person you've known since you were a child?

Title pretty much says it all. I'm running Vista. "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" is unchecked for both my speakers and my headphones.

posted a message on Is there some sort of 'transfer' cable that can transfer files from one computer to another through USB?
    Quote from fm87
However this can be done with the ethernet port by using a crossover cable. (NOTE: not the same cable as a CAT5/6 ethernet cable) Which is a better solution, really.

I've connected two computers with Gigabit ports with only a regular CAT5e cable before.

    Quote from Vadox
I'd love to buy it there but unfortunately I live in Australia and I don't think newegg is available for me. I have another question, are there any decent graphics cards that cost about $100-$210.

If you don't mind going $15 AUD over budget, the 7850 for sure. Very good performance for the price.

If you absolutely cannot go over $210 AUD, your next best option is the 7770. It still offers good performance for the price, but it's significantly less powerful than the 7850 and you will see a difference.
