Be forewarned - I am incredibly dull past Minecraft chat :Skeleton:

How often will you be able to play on the server?
To be honest, more often than I should!

Typically on during the afternoon on weekdays after the 9-5er. Weekdays are generally open all day barring RL obligations. All in all, I'd say 15-20 hours a week.

How long have you been playing Minecraft?
Bought the game itself when it was in its Alpha stages - perhaps a few versions after redstone was first introduced for the game. Was single player exclusively up until Mineshafts and Fortresses were introduced to the game.

Been on several great servers since then, taking in the sights, learning things, and sharing what blocky knowledge I've gained throughout the years. But alas servers don't last forever, but there are always good memories to be had, so my blocky online journey continues.

What type of builder are you?
I have a fondness for medieval style buildings, though my general approach is that I create farms / grinders, then encapsulate them inside decorative shells or buildings (see below screen for more information).

A good example of what I usually aim to build would be Yogcast Sjin's 'Feed The World' settlement, where each building is uniquely constructed from the others and serve a particular function that contribute to its overall purpose.

Why are you interested in joining this server?
There's quite a bit of survival servers on the minecraft forums. As you dig through the numerous threads, you quickly become accustomed to the standard OP catch phrases and what not, and soon it's just like any old TV commerical. Products A-Z will always claim they're the best, with the standard set of reasoning, and suddenly, the truth of the matter seems very far away.

But every once in a while, one thread can break away from the rest. It speaks of its own hardships and origins that resonate with my own, or has a truly one-of-a-kind, genuine ring to it. To those posts, I commission trophies that acknowledge such excellence post up an application and hope that you consider it :)

Please feel free to include any other information, or pictures/videos of things you have made in minecraft.

    Meet the DQ Golem project.

Aside from its decor value, it also functions as an iron / golem farm.

I started this build on a server about a year ago, but never finished due to a combination of myself not finishing the model in AutoCAD and the server it was hosted on closing down. I left the blueprints tucked away for a bit, but now I think I've built up enough motivation to take another stab at it. It just needs another server to call its home!

    Little about yourself:
Avid Minecrafter and generic gamer who enjoys building grinders / farms enclosed in artistic shells, such as a golem grinder hidden as a buffed up vanilla village. Typically will take on large projects that are never completed due to server shutdowns or personal laziness. Also likes to check out other people's build in order to steal their ideas provide constructive comments.

What you like to see in a Minecraft server:
A mature community of players, not really bounded by rules per say, but sharing a likeness in etiquette and synergizing creativity tempered through time that removes the need for enforcement.

Life goes on, and people always change, but the urge to Minecraft has stayed with me for quite some time. It is my hope to find some people to play with that feel the same way :)

    Random crap:
    Blue butterfly monkey keypad paper.

Skype yes, Google Chat no, but could grab it if it helps!

    Average game-time per week:
Weekday afternoons after the 9-5’er. Weekend am/pm is free game barring any RL ‘distractions’.

Can you handle building an entirely self-sustaining citybase on your own?
My typical Minecraft building algorithm is to make a grinder / spawner system hidden inside a tasteful ‘shell’ – which is typically a customized town (for a villager ‘spawner’), or an aesthetic structure of sorts.

See below for a recent example build of mine - it was an Iron Golem Spawner hidden inside the head of the large villager statue based off of the Christ the Reedemer statue in Brazil. The colombage-styled houses were just for flavor and villager housing (though their tendency to clump into one building really dampened the authentic feel of a bustling town).

Unfortunately, I usually don’t have the personal time to complete the projects 100%, or the server that I’m building it on closes down.

    Why should we pick you?
After reading what you’re looking for in a potential Minecraft candidate, I feel that our goals are similar enough for me to apply and give your server a shot. Most of the time other standard vanilla server have the players off to do their own things, but having a common building goal that others share really adds an authentic community feel.

At the end of the day, its just a few of us hanging out playing MineCraft building awesome things and having fun, so keep that in mind.

This is quite literally the best description of what Minecraft is to me on the weekdays.

    Any Questions?
Nothing aside from project specific inquiries, which is a moot point at this application stage.

Hopefully you consider my application to your server :)

    Heatou's Two Cents:

As HomePoint mentions, we'll have to wait a bit for McMMO and the other mods to play catch-up once v1.7 is released - a week or two at worst case perhaps?

Multiverse seems like the best option appease both the new world seekers and the old world item hoarders (don't balk - I'm one of them too!), provided managing the two worlds at once doesn't lag the server too much. Seemed to handle okay when we had the Eldaria world conjoined with the old map though. Wouldn't think that the new land generation bit would cause the old world to flip out, but hey - you never know.

I'd vote for a new map if it had to come down to one option or the other, but at the very least I'd prefer to keep our McMMO levels :P

Here is the beginning of something that wasn't finished.

I know your secret deaf - Structures with protruding columns!

Seriously though, awesome work as always :D

Here's what I been wasting my time on as of late; it's finally progressed to the point where I can take a suitable screenshot of it.

The chains turned out much bigger than I anticipated, but the shapes looks good, minus a few links I need to re-align. The shape really didn't 'pop' until I added stairs to add more resolution to the slope.

I've been looking around, trying to find some ideas to what to build and found something I would like to try. Heres what I've built so far. Thoughts and opinion would be great! :)

Diggin the front deck! It's not often you see houses with some exterior extensions to it. Are the lumber columns going to serve as a foundation for something else higher up?

Here's my own WIP project - what you're looking at is a giant chain link sunk into a stone foundation. The nerd pole in the background is the starting point for a giant tower in the sky (think Crystalis from NES) that will be chained between three close by mountain peaks.

For the tower interiors, I plan to set up a mob exp / item grinder and an arena to host mass mob / PvP / free-for-all fighting. Should be fun if I can throw it all together :D

Speaking of fun, there has been some discussion in getting some people together to create some other kinds of social event builds, like hedge mazes or Multiverse linked parkour maps or Hunger Games-esque events and the like.

Would this be something that others would be interested in , and if so, feel free to post more ideas for discussion!

Kinda busy with work / lazy off the field atm - I think the trouble with one-shot adventure maps is the coordination to get a good chunk of the player populous on at once. A good analogy would be trying to coordinate a server-wide sleep in with 5+ people :P

The first time I saw Skylands, I was impartial to the concept , but after seeing some Let's-Players take a stab, it kinda grew on me. I guess with v1.7, we would need a new map? However you want to handle it, I'd certainly be interested.

Just an update from me folks - recently had oral surgery, and the recovery time is taking longer than anticipated. Expecting to be out for the better part of next week.

P.S. If you're generally a nervous person, don't opt for Nitrus Oxide Gas. 'Mild euphoria' didn't help much after feeling the scalpel do the first incision D:

I'd also encourage some more YouTube vids if your free time allows Youkulm - perhaps a 'home cam' style vid that has you running around greeting others and their great builds!

Speaking of, finally finished the exterior to the Villager Statue at my Coastal Villager Villa! Coming next is a massive home expansion for the scuttling buggers, although they'll probably just clump into one house like they always do :I

    "!"

Heya Youkulm - hopefully you're still kicking around in the MC world. Do you have plans for updating the server to v1.6?

Though I'm guessing there's going to be a bit of waiting period for McMMO first.

    Youkulm,

What are you thoughts in regards to TnT, which is disabled atm (not sure what plugin is responsible for this)?

The later tiers of the McMMO Mining skills affect how TnT work, such as increasing the blast radius or increasing the yield from blasted blocks. However, given the restriction of TnT, these 'perks' are unable to be used.

I realize that TnT has always gotten a bad rep for being a griefer's tool of choice, but as an avid cave tunneler/designer, I cannot express its usefulness enough in expanding branch mines to decorate them, or getting rid of pesky gravel/dirt chunks. In addition, I believe that Electro & cheese are looking to rip down a mountain for their terraforming plans, in which TnT would greatly hasten the process.

Protection in some form against griefing is always important, however, though I'm not sure if any world archiving is being done server-side. Having a roll-back feature to revert back to a previous world is a tried-and-true way of both fixing player naughtiness and allowing the server populous access to Minecraft's full arsenal of tools.

Or, perhaps a compromise of sorts could be reached, such as only players who have played on the server for a certain amount of time has access to TnT.

In any case, let us know what you think :)

    Sincerely,
    Heatou

Greetings from the ocean floor :D

Given the new map being mostly ocean, I decided to make some sea-salty lemonade and just finished up the first of what hopefully will be a bunch of oceanic glass dome structures I'm building fairly close to spawn. I'm terrible with interior design, though, so I could use some pointers.

Feel free to apply and boat on down if you're interested to building under the sea, or just starting on a still fairly fresh map!

It's always a tricky thing for small servers to coordinate team effort builds. Larger servers don't have that problem so much, simply because of the player volume, but from my experience the payback is that most just form their own groups and stay secretive from other formed groups.

It may help to post your timezone and general times of play so others can have a better chance to stay in touch in-game. Voice 'servers' such as Skype and RaidCall as mentioned on this server help immensely with player communications; almost up to the point where it's simply more efficient to ditch in game chat altogether. If you're on a server, and no one's typing at you, chances are they're on such a program with others :P

I've been busy recently with other stuff, but I'll be happy to hop on occasionally to help others out when I'm able to. Here's some contact information in regards to myself - it'll also help others get in touch if they'll post the same :)
    • Timezone - EST
    • Times of MC Activity - Weekday afternoons (6-9 ish), sporadic weekend times.
    • Skype ID - stev708
    • Raidcall - Don't have it personally, could get it if it's more convenient for others.
