We could regale him with stories of black and white TV and Dial phones that were attached to a wire on the wall without even a modular plug letting us move it, or that Paul McCartney was in a band looooong before Kanye discovered him

I have a great sense of humor, thank you...
However, there's a thing to be said about the same kind of BS every april 1st, it isn't funny, it's old and tiresome and highly immature.
I was struck with a very foul april fools joke when I was a child (I was 12 back in 1993 when this happened), so since then, I've hated april fools and everything to do with it. Tell me, how would you feel, if someone told you one of your loved ones died, then told a bit later due to your reaction it was just a joke, then hear later that day, their death was true. How would you feel then? How would you take that day every year when all nearly everyone does is prank and joke to purposly tick off their 'friends' and loved ones, or come out with jokes that come off as real? How would you handle that memory? Not very well I assure you.
So my sense of humor, stops with things that relate to that on this day.
If you feel that badly about it you should avoid the internet in it's entirety, and perhaps also the rest of the free world every April 1st. -

They have been working on the api, but the groundwork for it takes a lot longer than the things we see. It's no far off from when you see a construction crew building a new home or building. What takes the longest? The foundation. Seems like they stand around the empty lot for months doing nothing. Then suddenly when the foundation is set and done, a building seems to appear overnight. After that, the slowdown is all the minor details inside the structure.
It's no different with the API. Most of the recent updates have included something that is setting a foundation for a modding API. It takes a long time and it seems like they are doing nothing. Then some day you'll suddenly see them announcing all these new things we can actually work with on the API and we will be like, "took you long enough!" In truth, they were always working, it just took a long time to lay the groundwork.
For the record I'm not pulling this out of my butt, I do software development for a living. You'd be surprised how many months you can spend on the functionality of one button. Building a game with a modding API from the start is a lot easier than adding one to an existing game.
One thing you've forgotten to mention... They are also trying to retain a shred of backward compatibility so all the mods won't have to change overnight, as is the case with the Numeric/Named block ID change, Modders still have a while before having to change, since both are still working at this time, but the smart ones will adapt early. -

They don't throttle anything and I can play every other game with 30-40 ping its mc netcode which is terrible which is fixed now hopefully
Also it has OpenGL not DirectX.......... And the servers do not run off my home internet they are deidcated servers that run off enterprise grade hardware with 1Gbps internet speed. And they still lag! Thats impressive to lag a Xeon E3-1245v2.
It's not at all hard to choke a Xeon. I saw it plenty of times in the last datacenter I worked in (I work in IT). All you have to do is try to run one too many virtual machines on the hardware, and one thing managers hate to do is throw money into additional hardware when "We can always just configure another VM, right?" -

1) Minecraft doesnt use DirectX, it uses OpenGL
2) I have an internet connection that has 30MBps down and 2MBps up, the smallest bit of packet loss and my game goes to crap when playing on servers.
3) chunk loading is awful, i'm flying over the world and instead of being organised and loading the chunks closest to me, minecraft starts doing that then stops, leaves a gap and then continues about 4-5 chunks away. It's even worse on servers due to the way they are sent!
1). I know MC doesn't use Direct X. I was just too lazy to find the card model and DirectX 11 came out what... 3 years ago? That was just to show I'm not using the latest GPU.
2). Check the network path to your server. Open a command prompt and type in "tracert [servername] " where [servername] is the name of your server (without brackets). This will tell you how long it takes to get to the server and how long the packet has to wait at each router. You may find a slow route is hampering you.
One other server condition: How many others are playing on it? How many virtual machines are running on the hardware? Hardware specs don't matter if they try to run too many VM sessions on it.
3). Don't know what to say other than item 2. This may be an issue but I don't use creative or fly over my world so I've not seen it. -

Portals can be bigger than the old size (2x3?) but still have to be rectangular... no circles or triangles. The largest size I think is 23x23.
You can make an oversized portal and put an odd-shaped façade in front, if you want other shapes. -

Wooo! This has got to be the best update so far! Though that's what I thought of 1.6... >.<
But what about my old world? Will the new biomes make giant ugly cliffs in it when I explore new chunks? How do I make sure this doesn't happen? Any help would be very appreciated! (By the way, I don't really want to start a whole new world, I have gotten pretty far into the world I have.)
If you're not running 1.6.4 right now you want to before going to 1.7. They found a structure generation bug that will mess up any villages, strongholds, lost mines, etc. if you upgrade without going to 1.6.4 first and visiting all the structures to get them remapped to the new format. -

lol yea man. Did you not read the part of specs? The servers run on a server grade Xeon cpu that is 3.4ghz with plenty of ram. And my system is no push over, A GTX 760,8GB DDR3,FX 8320. Another of friends is rocking a 680 and he gets no better fps than me. Its honestly pathetic and not my end.
@EzerArch, I agree completely with you
What's your ISP like? Do they throttle bandwidth during peak usage? There are lots of contributions to lag.
I don't play on a server (yet) and see absolutely no lag. With vsync off, 4GB dedicated to the game environment and everything maxxed I'm seeing a minimum 120 FPS using my 8450 and a graphics card that doesn't even support DirectX 11. -

The bad guy brings a T-Rex to the future to do his dirty work. T-Rex fails. Bad guy asks "how can this be so hard?"
T-Rex replies (via a brain amplifying bowler hat) "Huge, powerful body, tiny little arms."
This is all paraphrased, I haven't seen the movie in a bit. -

Probably ill buy it for PS3 or PS4. If you telling me now: If you buy minecraft for a console you waste money. Well i will buy it on PS3 or PS4 because i can't buy Minecraft for PC. My parents won't let me use their credit card. So if I buy it for PS3 or PS4 i will not need a freaking credit card I just pay the money without a card .
I bought my copy of MC for PC as a gamecard at the Taget store down the street. Paid cash.
[Edit] As far as consoles go my last was a Sega Genesis and my next will never exist, until they make them incrementally upgradable like my PC is.
Also, I have MCPE for my tablet. I don't see console versions as being too much better than that is.
For a laugh, check out RoosterTeeth's "Let's play Minecraft" from last week (9/13 or thereabout). A bunch of xbox players playing on PCs because "they want to get horses and hold a joust". Even though several played PC minecraft before the xbox version, they were having issues remembering how to make basic items like picks -

The issue is, in the Nether, they are still normal size. There was also word of a possible circle Nether Portal, however that doesn't seem possible at this time.
A circular portal is not possible at this time.
However, a circular façade with a rectangular portal behind it definitely is... -

1). Large 4x4 trees in the Roofed Forrest biome producing Spruce wood but Oak saplings.
2). This may be intended but the new volume controls reset for every new world. These should probably be treated as global player preferences.
3). I cannot create an account to report bugs officially... The anti-bot "Type the word below" system isn't displaying the word to type. Im using IE 11 with Windows 8.1.
Other than that things look fantastic so far! - To post a comment, please login.

The first on-line game I played was called "Project Entropy" at the time... It's still around but they've since finished beta and changed the name. I think it's "Entropy Universe" now.
The point is that the game's currency was directly tied to the US dollar... You could buy 10 in-game credits for one dollar. The unique thing was that you could SELL 10 game credits for 1 dollar real life cash as well.
While I was playing they opened a new "Island Continent on the single world that was available at the time (Last I checked there were 5 separate worlds) and put it up for auction. Someone bought a virtual island for $380,000.00!
However, the person who bought it had full rights... Real Estate. mineral, hunting/fishing licenses, etc. and as the rest of the world was completely owned by players, any individual wanting a homestead or Guild wanting a Guild Manor had to buy the land from him at his prices... If they wanted to big game hunt on the island, they had to buy licenses from him, or pay game enforced poaching penalties, same if they wanted to mine on his island. I'm guessing he made a tidy profit eventually, since the game is still going.

The only way it wouldn't work is if the Mac could only run AppleTalk, and I don't even know if Apple still supports it.

No, you can't. Mojang owns the rights for Vanilla MC.
Mod creators own the rights to their work, and most make their work freely available to the playing public.
Unless you are using a mod that is NOT available to the public there's no leg to stand on, and even then it's the mod's creator that has the ability to do anything, not you.

I knew the answer, you just disqualified me in the OP by specifying "under 30".
First movie I ever walked out on and demanded a refund, btw.

I started with a non enchanted rod... 3rd item I "caught" was a 90% good Unbreaking III/Luck of the Sea II rod which I switched to. After 3 game-days I have 3 saddles, lots of fish and I caught a pair of leather boots I put on because I have no armor.

Isn't that a bit redundant? Fisticuffs on our hands? Unless you're Steve, of course...

Do you have a title list of all these Lego "movies" that have been released? There have been plenty of Lego games based on other action movies, like Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Batman, etc. but cut scenes in a video game don't count, nor do Direct to Video productions, if any exist.
The upcoming Lego Major Motion Picture to be released in theaters is the only one I know of to date.
There have been several video game based movies in the last few years but I can't name them because that's how memorable they were.

So you're saying it takes no skill at all to play Soup PvP?

Think of it as an inverse hammock... Instead of rolling with the flow it'll dump you onto the floor at the slightest breeze.
Extra points for staying in bed longer than 8 seconds.
Wow. 2 stupid jokes in the same post... I must be exited today for some reason.

For some mods the bats drop claws which are useful in some recipes. If you play Vanilla, they have no known use.
Domestic cats are a great Creeper Repellant...
