posted a message on Is the Win10 version really this watered down?

To tell you the truth I think that MCPE is the base-code for Win10beta because it's written in C++, and MS has always said they want to use MC as a gateway for kids to learn programming... If they can be started off using Visual Studio instead of a 3rd party product like Java, so much the better. :D

Also, according to the Minecon panel the coding (when available) will probably be using C#.

posted a message on Where is 0.16?

Many App Stores can take a couple of days to "approve" new apps and updates... I saw this with the Minecraft look-alike I used before I got Java MC and MCPE.

Another point, in case you missed it, was a major DDoS attack on one of the largest DNS repositories in the country which may have delayed delivery of the update to app stores.

Another point, there have been a lot of improvements since Win10 beta came out. Remember, the code comes directly from MCPE which used to be extremely limited because of the limited hardware that it ran on at the time.

posted a message on what do you want to see in MCPE 0.16.0/1.0.0

I don't want to see any "version exclusive" features. Period. The sooner MCPE is brought current to the feature set of Java Minecraft, the better... Then we can start to see interoperability between all versions and who knows *BLASPHEMY ALERT!* maybe make the leap to all versions being written in a common language (C++) and being merged into a single product?

I have a great sense of humor, thank you...

However, there's a thing to be said about the same kind of BS every april 1st, it isn't funny, it's old and tiresome and highly immature.

I was struck with a very foul april fools joke when I was a child (I was 12 back in 1993 when this happened), so since then, I've hated april fools and everything to do with it. Tell me, how would you feel, if someone told you one of your loved ones died, then told a bit later due to your reaction it was just a joke, then hear later that day, their death was true. How would you feel then? How would you take that day every year when all nearly everyone does is prank and joke to purposly tick off their 'friends' and loved ones, or come out with jokes that come off as real? How would you handle that memory? Not very well I assure you.

So my sense of humor, stops with things that relate to that on this day.

If you feel that badly about it you should avoid the internet in it's entirety, and perhaps also the rest of the free world every April 1st.

Shouldn't there be a policy against creating new threads instead of nerco-ing old ones to cut down on the thread count? (I'm sure there's a linen joke in there somewhere...)

My 2 cents, for what they're worth...

This is why "standard" EULAs and other legal documents are wrapped in so many pages of legalese that the average person's eyes glaze over at the first sentence. Such documents are usually quite clear an succinct in their language, leaving no leeway for arguing about meaning when read by another lawyer.

Mojang's attempt to express their EULA colloquially has led to the multitude of interpretations seen these past couple of days and is partially generating the bad juju seen in the forums recently. If they had left the language to the lawyers I don't think the reaction would have been as great.

When trying to write legal documents in plain language you open up each and every word to arguments about actual intent of meaning as opposed to interpretation, as witnessed by Bill Clinton's "definition of the word 'is' " defense argument in the late 80s, after all.

I suggest using a Intel i7 instead of and. There is just so much more processing power in a Intel.

...and at least $300USD extra cost between the CPU and compatible mainboard.

I run an FX8350 (4Ghz) that I paid $200 for 6 months ago. The comparable I7 was close to $500, not to mention I already had an AMD mainboard when I upgraded (ASUS Sabertooth 990FX).

I7 mainboards are also more expensive than AMD boards.

Look up about 5 posts for your answer, and in the future try reading at least the past day's posts to see if your question has been answered already.

Is it possible that your graphics setting is removing it? I notice that every post (mine included) that shows the Advanced OpenGL button is set for "Fancy" graphics while the on post showing the button is missing has graphics set to "Fast"...

I'll try this on my machine as a test.

[Edit] That's not the cause... Oh well.

They have been working on the api, but the groundwork for it takes a lot longer than the things we see. It's no far off from when you see a construction crew building a new home or building. What takes the longest? The foundation. Seems like they stand around the empty lot for months doing nothing. Then suddenly when the foundation is set and done, a building seems to appear overnight. After that, the slowdown is all the minor details inside the structure.

It's no different with the API. Most of the recent updates have included something that is setting a foundation for a modding API. It takes a long time and it seems like they are doing nothing. Then some day you'll suddenly see them announcing all these new things we can actually work with on the API and we will be like, "took you long enough!" In truth, they were always working, it just took a long time to lay the groundwork.

For the record I'm not pulling this out of my butt, I do software development for a living. You'd be surprised how many months you can spend on the functionality of one button. Building a game with a modding API from the start is a lot easier than adding one to an existing game.

One thing you've forgotten to mention... They are also trying to retain a shred of backward compatibility so all the mods won't have to change overnight, as is the case with the Numeric/Named block ID change, Modders still have a while before having to change, since both are still working at this time, but the smart ones will adapt early.

posted a message on How Did YOU Make Up Your MC Name?
My usual online alias is "Hambo", which originated years agoi when for some reason I could only come up with "Rambo" but didn't want to be so lame.

I ended up combining "Rambo" with another hobby... Amateur Radio, or "Ham Radio". Hence, Hambo.

On MC when I tried my default it was taken, so I misspelled it to "Hambeau". In fact, I'm probably Hambo as well, from an account probably created a couple of years ago when I originally discovered MC... I just couldn't remember the password I was using then.
