I saw a few people asking about this but never saw them get a response, so I'm going to ask myself in hopes of an answer popping up (whether a novel one or just a link to a post that I missed; I'd love either).
I'm having a problem with opening up a previous world. The screen stays stuck on the "Downloading Terrain" screen and the world never loads. ONCE it did load, and while the GUI was there on the screen everything else about the world was completely black (not sure if this is the "void" that some people were talking about or not.)
Initially I was trying to use McPatcher to install it, since I've always used McPatcher. I used different combinations; installing Optifine first, then installing the other McPatcher stuff (like randommobs; I wouldn't install better grass, HD textures, or HD font since Optifine already has that). Then I tried installing Optifine after the other stuff. Then I tried doing them all at the same time. Then I tried JUST installing Optifine and still got the same problem. I'd always go delete META-INF before starting the game.
Then I tried manually installing Optifine without McPatcher (with a new minecraft.rar of course). That didn't work either.
So I attempted to use Magic Launcher, and I got the same result. Same "Downloading Terrain" screen.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I have 1.4.7 and I'm trying to install the HD D5 version of Optifine. Can anyone help me?
The same guy is very populair with is other texture pack:
In this pack he uses some stuff from misa as well. Not 90% like in the first one, but it is clear he used stuff from misa.
People complement him on his creeperblanket on the bed etc, while it is just copied from misa. (not just the idea, the complete texture)
I just did the opposite recently. Got bored with my redguard thief type thing, and felt way too powerful around level 60-ish, so grabbed a mod that slowed leveling progression and rolled something completely different. This time I'm actually playing some sort of battlemage, heavy armor, weapon, shield, and lightning magic. Oh, and I made it look like Hulk Hogan. I typically play a passive stealth type in nearly every game. Decided it was time to try something a bit different to keep things fresh. Also Hulk Hogan, brother!
Oh God... that is awesome and terrifying at the same time. Battlemages are kickass though.
Lvl 60? Jeeze; I'm lvl 35 atm, and haven't even gotten that horn the Greybeards told me to grab; been doing too much sidequesting/adventuring. Smithing already at 100 though; rocking Dragonscale armor.
I feel bad for kinda-almost-not-really derailing the thread with Skyrim talk, but I figure you might like the change of pace. XD But let's see what I could talk about. You know what might be interesting? A skeleton or zombie based off the dragon priests (how I hate those things).
Her name is Lovely Lucy. She is a Battlemage specialized in Bartering, Mysticism, Acrobatics and Ladies Professional Golf.
Actually it's a level 50-something Redguard, mostly passive thief type. Maxed stealth, pickpocketing, lockpicking, speech, etc. No magic, very little combat. Bow and dual daggers only when needed.
Very nice. I recently decided Heavy Armor was a stupid idea and switched to light; much faster now.
I hope I don't get completely bombarded for this, but I figured it'd be nice to give you a chance to talk about something other than just your texture pack.
What's your race in Skyrim and how are you "speccing" yourself? Personally I'm an Argonian named Dra'ir. My principle focus is Archery (I've even had people in game refer to me directly as "archer," which is neat). Supplementing that I am utilizing Enchanting (I have no less than 3 or 4 bows on me at a time; one fire, one frost, one shock, and one for filling soul gems). I'm also heavy on the Sneaking, particularly firing while hidden.
At close range I utilize a one-handed sword and shield, again with enchantments (fire sword, frost sword, etc.).
And in conjunction with all this? Heavy Armor. It's completely ludicrous and stupid and not something I'd do if it weren't for the fact that the extra protection really helps me out. It's been working decently so far; just have to get my sneak up some more so that the armor becomes completely negated.
So what are you focusing on?
And because I have to mention Minecraft somewhere, have you found the "Notched Pickaxe" yet?
I'm not really close to visiting The End personally, so I was wondering if someone could take a screenshot of Misa's Enderdragon and post it; I'd be VERY curious to see the model with the awesome skin Misa made.
Edit 2: Phew, a new browser did the trick. Uploading the update now. The Main thread will be updated shortly after that's finished.
What browser do you use, Misa?
And thanks so much for all your hard work. Go enjoy Skyrim again; I'll be getting myself once I finish Jurassic Park: The Game, Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Assassin's Creed: Revelations, and Arkham Asylum (yes I fell behind in that one). Too many great games coming out right now.
The shiny stuff is already done. As far as wavy grass and wheat goes, this will not be done. I did a whole day's worth of experiments on how to best pull this off and even with the best possible method I could find, it looked way too artificial and wasn't remotely easy on the eyes. This is largely due to the limitations of transparency on Minecraft's renderer. We either need a full gradient of degrees of transparency, or things like waving grass and wheat need to be handled by a shader that animates the geometry the textures are applied to. So yeah, to reiterate, waving grass and wheat is currently not possible.
For those of you with installation issues regarding MCPatcher: Clean your installation as the instructions on my thread request. You're probably running MCPAtcher with some old backup jars in there and it's just reverting to those and causing your problems. All backup jars need to be removed from the bin folder if you plan on using any of the pre-release stuff. And ensure the version of MCPatcher you're using is v2.2.1. Also ensure you've actually selected the newest texturepack in-game and didn't just put it in the folder and think it was only partially working because you already saw my textures up from a previous version you had selected.
Also if for Minecraft, you're using a pirated version or the web client, you're doing it wrong. MCPatcher is made to work with the paid for, downloaded client of the game. Issues arising outside of that client I cannot help you with any further than I already have.
Out of simple curiosity would you happen to still have those files for the bad wheat/grass? I am kinda curious to see what it looked like.
I just had a random thought, Misa. I don't know how well this would work; might not be possible.
Have you considered making your lava look kinda like this? Essentially springs would be very charcoal gray/black with some intermediate orange while the flowing lava would be more similar to the orange we all think of, but again with some intermediate gray/black. Lava tends to cool VERY quickly when exposed to air.
It's a thought if nothing else.
Any comments on this, Misa? I'd like to hear your opinion on it/why it won't work like I'd like it to. XD
Knockback seems to have been nerfed; I know for a FACT that I am not knocking the Creepers back nearly as far as I used to in 1.8.1. Many times they barely go back 1 square and that results in large explosions since I'm still in the death radius.
I know WHY it's been nerfed; because of the enchantment, but I don't like it. I'm tryings to save up my points so I can get more diamond from the vein I have below my base, but they keep killing me!

Couldn't just pretend that a magical pattern was carved into it? :tongue.gif: Personally I don't like how it came out using the same process/rig. But it's better than nothing, I guess.
And yes, only the items.png and terrain.png can be animated. Animated mobs... That'd be a terrifying process... I'm just imagining how massive the pngs would be. And then there's all my randomobs.. If I wanted to make the farm animals blink their eyes or something.
I think it looks neato and I appreciate you including it.
Yeah I figured that would be hell to work around animating the mobs. Never thought for a moment it'd be possible.
I love the H.R. Giger theme, Misa; always loved the look of the Xenomorphs and I JUST now realized why I love your Endermen so much.
Something I WAS thinking of is using animated textures to make the Slimes and Magma Cube textures writhe/wiggle/flow realistically. However, I am under the strong impression that animated textures for mobs currently do not exist, so I figure this isn't possible. I thought I'd run the idea by you, though, in case it interests you in anyway.
I also had a request; I use this alternate texture for the Obsidian, but there exists no alternate texture for the Enchantment Table with this obsidian. It's a bit odd seeing both in a game. I personally am able to easily Photoshop the different texture onto the table, BUT I thought you might be interested in making an official alternate texture which uses the alternate Obsidian.

I reported him. I suggest others do the same. Link to this thread as proof when you do it.

Well.... I am adequately terrified.
