Figured I'd give this thread a bump with my most recent commission. I love it!

Speaking of trying new things, I tried using watercolors yesterday, and I think it turned out pretty good.

    @MadDragon
I like it, but I think it needs some more shading on the ear that's partly behind the cap.

If that was your first attempt at watercolors, I think it came out very well!

Oh, the new forum design messed up my watch-thing...

Anyway, I drew something using an awfull amount of ink.

(Hopefully, you can tell what animal it is, if not, then I've failed)

I like your style! Cool art.

If you need more information about the fandom, the first post in this thread does a decent job.

Something interesting, not sure if it is useful or not, but I've found that my cell phone is actually about the perfect height for a wrist rest.

This is genius! If only my cellphone wasn't so wide, it would be perfect. I have the same issue as you did, just needed something to rest my wrist on, hard or soft.

@Satharis, have you found a wrist rest yet? I should look into getting one as well.

They look like great builds to me for the price, probably about as good as you're going to get on a budget. My only concern is the Rosewill PSU. I'm not sure how much I trust that brand, just my personal opinion. That's all I would change though.

Sadly, I don't think it is.

We need this sub-forum badly. It's annoying to weed through the "Is X better than Y?" and all of the countless computer build threads.

A friend of mine online was in the fandom and asked me if I knew anything about it. We talked about it for a while and he showed me some really nice art and I just got ever-more interested in it, dipped my toes into the world of roleplay and just enjoyed myself. I think that my large exposure to cartoons and other media depicting anthropomorphic characters with the addition of spending a ton of time on the internet, love of animals and my great tolerance/open mindedness allowed my entrance into the fandom.

What keeps me here now is my close attachment to my 'sona and few good furry friends I have. I honestly don't like the majority of the people in the fandom it seems, which is unfortunate, but when I find someone that I like, it seems that it often times results in a very strong friendship.

Have you tried drawing your own? This is something I've noticed a couple times now, people wanting/needing others to draw their characters. In fact, I did a request for Jacknife a while back. But then again, he seems to collect different versions of his character by different artists. Is that common?

Also, makes me wish I thought highly enough of my abilities to do commissions. Some people seem to make decent money doing this kind of thing.

Maybe I should try an art trade or something sometime. Problem is finding someone suitable. I had an offer from someone on DA who was into Saw. Had to turn that down because I don't like gore, and animal abuse is something that really pisses me off. That, and I prefer my characters stay un-mutilated if I can help it.
DeviantArt is such a weird place. I was wandering around it a bit. Is it bad that I now want to draw one of those anthro tickling pictures? Those are weird, but looks kinda fun, too.

OK, enough rambling, art time. An "abandoned" fursona. I stopped using this one for some reason, but I do still draw him as a normal character.

Actually, one MORE rambling thought: Is it common for people to refer to a fursona character as "me"? I see that a lot too.
I've said it before, I don't know much about furry stuff. Anything you learn, even from a pretty unbiased source like Wikipedia, isn't super-useful. Blah blah conventions blah blah fursuit blah blah anthro. So I have to ask actual people.

Every once in a blue moon I'll sketch random things, or try to. I don't have much motivation to draw anything furry, I like to doodle tanks and things though..

About the question if it's common for people to collect art of their fursona in various styles, I would say.. it's not very unusual at all. I see many people with chibi versions, pony-fied version.. and just tons of versions of their sona. I think it's cool to see your character represented in so many different ways. You seem like you're on the right path if you want to do commissions some day, I would be surprised if you couldn't find a few other people to do art trades with.

On the topic of people referring to their 'sona as "me", I also find that to be not all that rare. I think it really depends on the situation. I do it on occasion, mostly on instant messengers and furry related sites/threads, where the mutual understanding is that whoever is typing is referring who they are as their 'sona.. if that makes any sense at all.. xD.

And no worries about questions, I don't mind answering anything you'd like to know.

I also have a chibi-esque version of Hades and his friend Taryn playing around.

Nice art, Hades, yours or not that is bad-ass.
And he's a hyena. Rock on.

So, I guess I'll post mine... I have a bit of a split personality, so I have a few:
My "main" one, Kelvin the bull. And I'll be honest, I'm no Greek God. He actually looks a lot like me.
Fun fact: My zodaic thingy is the bull one.

And my first one, that I've drifted away from a bit, Henry Redmane. He's a wolf.
Yes, I have fallen asleep at my desk like this before.

And, of course, Domingo. He's effin' crazy. And a fox.
Normally, he wears jeans. For some reason, I just find this drawing hilarious.

    And for teh lulz:

    I'm a dog. Woof!

Thanks! And yeah, I do not art. I wish it was mine. I enjoy viewing your art as well :biggrin.gif:.
As a matter of fact, I just signed up for a new commission. I'll post it here when it's done. Should only be a week or so I'm hoping, at most.

Illford has been online, I have him on my Xfire and steam, he's on quite a bit. I'm unsure as to why he hasn't posted here.

On the topic of how many 'sonas can someone have, it's really not limited at all.

It's all up to the individual to interpret what a fursona means to them.

I know some furs who have one or two main fursonas and then a few other characters they roleplay as when the time to use them is right, or if they just feel like it.

For me personally, I have grown quite close to my fursona and only have one. I think that I would feel odd trying to roleplay as another character other than the 'sona I have created thus far. I've contemplated the creation of another fursona but I don't see the need for it, I really enjoy the one I have now. How my fursona has developed over the years has been really interesting.

To me, my Fursona, Hades, is more or less an semi-idealistic version of myself, strictly physically speaking. Hades' personality and actions during roleplay are the embodiment of how I would act if faced with whatever scenario is happening during roleplay if it were real life.

Now to quickly describe my fursona..

Hades is a synthetic being, without getting too detailed.. think.. like.. the main characters from Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, if you've seen that. Or.. sorta like Adam Jensen from Deus Ex.. just sans organic tissue (aside from the mind). Or if you haven't seen any of those.. then I guess the most basic example would be The Terminator)
His species is a Striped Hyena!
He's 5'7, roughly 110lbs, I keep his height and weight as close to my own as I can.

I'll post some arts of Hades in a spoiler below. All sfw of course.

Tried to 3D model my avatar.
Used Sculptris, its a pretty awesome program!
It came out a little meh but it was fun to do nonetheless.

I second Dominic, that is really awesome! How much experience did you have with that program before doing that?
