May 9, 2012Hackedshot44 posted a message on Gift Code Winners, Console Giveaway, MCX360 Livestream EventWow, a contest were Canada is actually included. Now only if it was guaranteed that all future contests involving NA would include Canada, it would -almost- be worth wasting money. Its pretty stupid to suddenly include a country that you've never thought about into a contest that require you to throw money at them, anyone with half a brain will see this as a stupid investment.Posted in: News

This would actually really screw over traps without some kind of sorting method for the mobs, and there was a lengthy discussion that only concluded a few things about an effective "Sorter" 1: You will need mods, and was a greed that the controller block mod would be the best. 2: It would only really work during the day time.
Since the idea above effectively means that you will have to drown creepers (Which would involve keeping them in an area that they cant walk out of) and find a way to get the skellies/zombs out of that and into the grinder, which wouldn't work and would become too risky. I like it.

Basically, its a large tower, above ground or underground, that is normally made out of cobble stone. It consists of a varying number of floors that are all sealed off and are pitch black to allow hostile mobs to spawn on the inside. They wander around until they fall into a water current, which can be set up differently. They then get pushed down until they reach a grinder.
A grinder, in its simplest form, is a water current that pushes mobs into lava suspended over ladders. This burns them to death, and the items they drop fall underneath to another current that carries them to a collection pool. Its not the easiest thing to set up, but when it works right its more efficient then the drowning trap.

Or you could get someone else with the power to destroy bedrock in on it.

I think that, ya, maybe something should be done about them, but really, you only get a few things from it, and you have to follow very specific instructions on what to do so you can get that maximum efficiency from it. Mine isn't very great, following a 750/h design, and its only used when I'm doing other things and I just idle at the collection pool.
Some of the things that are brought up in this thread are good ideas, but then there's the whole counter argument of how people use things like environmental kills to defend themselves and make a somewhat decent item collection pool from it too.
One thing I will support is creepers that randomly explode, perhaps water setting them off? Mob towers rely on water currents to force mobs into a central grinding area, and if creepers blew up in water, even 1 could severely cripple an entire tower

This is also assuming they have a air pocket outside and they aren't using any mods or such. I do agree that the best defense is in the open. One server I used to "visit" (AKA steal stuff) had a room that I kept everything in. It was also the admins house. All I did was dig a small dirt room underneath and leave a chest. It worked for the longest time because it was where he never thought to look.

Doubt it. It would be easier to just leave that part out and only do the inside area, not the stuff that would cover the reads

Making threads like this isn't going to encourage Notch to visit the forums, only ignore them because of the high-volume bitching going on

HOW DO I TURN OFF CAPS LOCK?

It was called Minecraft. The game stole code to allow for saves on computers to work. I do believe they used the Quandary texture pack though, about the only thing that wasn't ripped off.

You never know, lots of people have been saying they've found some pretty weird locations for dungeons.
