3.Everybody is so excited for nothing. It's just another mod...
You sir (or girl whatever) came here to just complain about this really awesome mod. To answer your stupid statements:
1.- Notch is SUPPORTING modding. He will even give modders a special tool to change the gameplay radically.
2.- If you are not liking this mod why are you even in this thread? If you say its not cool make your own Aether with all the features this has and release it as fast as you can since you don't have a life!
3.- Mods are a huge part of Minecraft. If you don't even like mods, then get out of the Modding Discussion Thread!

Okay then, enjoy your ban from the mod. I've added you to the blacklist. Of course, you wouldn't care if you actually didn't like the mod, but if you were trolling, then well I guess you got what's coming for you for being an idiotic troll.
Okay, not to undermine your authority, but this is ridiculous. There are only 3 ways that I can see for a blacklist to work:
1) download is blocked by IP address, problems with this are:
- a) you would need to know the IP address of the poster, which I'm pretty sure requires mod privileges
:cool.gif: even if you blocked the ip, the guy could still just go visit a net cafe or any number of other places for the download
- a) That would cut off a ton of fanbase that only wants this for single player
:cool.gif: even the portion of the fanbase that does want SMP, no way you'd be able to handle every single person with only one server. You'd need to make the server available to others, as soon as that happens you're eventually going to have that leaked, so no longer able to control who is blacklisted from that server.
c) even then, you'd need to know the specific minecraft ID that the person is using. Sure you can the minecraft ID from the forum profile information, but that isn't guaranteed to be that person's minecraft ID, and even I have an extra ID that i can log in under if i really want to, and he can always buy or pirate a new login ID, especially if he's feeling spiteful for getting blacklisted over a post he made.
- a) See issue 2c, directly above. There's no way of guaranteeing that you have the minecraft ID (or all of the IDs) through which to block that person.
:cool.gif: Even if you somehow magically did, it would be completely ridiculous to tie in a persons name to the game code in any meaningful manner, which means that however that person's name is stored, it would be on a specific file that can be tracked down, and either edited to get rid of that person's name, or possibly even removed entirely, and the editing process is simple once the code is recompiled; just search each file for the user's name, and then when it's found in any of the files, get rid of it, or just change the name by a single letter.
There are other possible methods, but they all basically come down to having all the same problems as the stuff I just mentioned. Sure, you could make him work for it a little, but that's about it. This whole blacklist thing is either a joke of poor taste, a bluff of thin quality, or a threat of childish proportions. There are better things to be doing with your time then adding in petty blacklist ******** code just to spite those people who aren't supporting the mod.
I don't know if its possible or not either, but if i were you i wouldn't question it. Even if they are lying its for good reason to maybe stop people from trolling, arguing, or spamming the thread. Plus i noticed one problem in part 1. of why this wouldn't work. You say to block someones IP you would need mod privileges. Go look at KingbDogz's status. Hes a sectional moderator.
