I don't think minecraft is ruined, as most people here do. Microsoft did not make billions of dollars being stupid, microsoft is well aware that what Mojang was (and is) doing right NOW is making them millions, why change it? Microsoft is not going to spend 2.5 BILLION dollars and then throw it away.
For those of you who can't really comprehend how large 2.5 billion is (no offence meant at all, it's a big booty number) think of it this way, if you took 2.5 billion dollar bills, and stacked them on top of each other, the stack would be 250,000 KILOMETERS high, our atmosphere ends somewhere around 300,000 kilometers. That is BIG number, microsoft can't afford to throw that money away by ruining a hit game.

Jun 18, 2014GuyInJeans posted a message on EULA Revisited: an Updated Q&A From MojangHonestly, Mojang's cause and reason are legally sound, moral, and acceptable. But the only thing I'm really mad about is that it's going to seriously affect and/or take down communities I have grown to love. Even though we were totally balanced in our donations. But still, we'll see what happens.Posted in: News

Jun 18, 2014GuyInJeans posted a message on EULA Revisited: an Updated Q&A From MojangAlright, I get that a lot of servers are getting really crazy and stupid with donations. And not so smart children are stealing credit cards to purchase things.Posted in: News
BUT as too the credit card stealing, it is the PARENTS resposibility to keep their credit card away from their impulsive 10 year old. And as adults it is thier responsibility to talk to their child and understand EXACTLY what happened. Instead of blaming it on the production company (in this case mojang).
There is no way for Mojang to seperate the good servers and the bad servers (bad and good donation wise). I have seen a lot of servers (even KitPvP ones, which are notorious for OP donors) where the donations are balanced. The donors are still OP of course, but normal members CAN earn enough in-game money to collect a gear set and enchant/OP it up. Then having a chance against OP donors. The only difference is donors can use it every 15 mins.
Anyway, there are really two ways this can go, either Mojang will brutally search every server ever made and that ever will be made and enforce their EULA with server stopping Java scripts and such. Or, Mojang will look at the massive amount of servers and do a scant search, allowing servers to still deal under the table. Either way, donations and making money to support servers is going to be a lot more difficult.
I have heard the argument that server owners should just get a job to pay for their server. Well, a part time job wont pay for a decently large server (30-65 players) and if the owners actually has a full time career job that pays well. He/she most likely has a family, so food and other important things will come first. And even then, if the owner was a family, that means they have a full time life. And that puts video games in the background (which if you have a life is a good thing) ultimatley ending in the dimise of the server.
Any way you slice it, this EULA is going to end in a trashed community, not only in servers, but in plugin makers as well.
And as a short ending statement, I find it ironic how Mojang is ok with people charging money for players to access the server PERIOD. But the AREN'T ok with servers that actually have balanced and fair donations. -
Jun 17, 2014GuyInJeans posted a message on EULA Revisited: an Updated Q&A From MojangYES! There ARE servers that are pay-to-win, KitPvP is a great example! But not all of them ARE, if you do NOT like how a server is run, LEAVE IT. No one is FORCING you to play on it! Most server donations are balanced and fun! And a ton of people are fine with them! (I say "ton" and not "all" because there are always people with an axe to grind) The community was fine with the way servers worked until you came along and did this. Servers that were unbalanced aren't played on (Except by the donors, but that's fine, its what they paid for)Posted in: News
If people aren't legally allowed to make money off of your minecraft, then why are you allowing pay to enter. That's not restricting a feature, its restricting a whole server. No one will support a server with hats, we were fine until EULA showed up Mojang... -
Jun 17, 2014GuyInJeans posted a message on EULA Revisited: an Updated Q&A From MojangThen they have no reason or backing to their argument, they would have no chance to stand against a veritable army of minecrafters who want this stopped. Fanboys never changed the world. Mojang is a great company, and if we do the right thing and nudge them a little (or a lot) they'll see it was stupid to do this. We CAN stop EULA from RUINING this community.Posted in: News
Donations and purchases are trashed, as of now, Minecraft is doomed. -
Jun 17, 2014GuyInJeans posted a message on EULA Revisited: an Updated Q&A From MojangAlright, so, questions. Do items bought with in game money (like rank perks, such as /ext or keep exp on death) count? They are bought with in game money that is earned, so it isn't a donation....Posted in: News
Some servers are pay-to-win, I get that (like some KitPvP places, oh man) but if I don't like it, I leave. That's it, and I find it stupid how mojang is not fine with people CHOOSING to buy BALANCED ranks because the LIKE THE SERVER. Compared to people having to BUY there way into a server with a ticket. That's more making money of minecraft then anything else, talk about pay-to-win, thats just pay-to-PLAY, and if anything, THAT's the thing that's mean.
This is going to destroy donations and plugin makers (no sane server owner is going to give everone /fly, but you can't donate for it, whats the point?) and it will slaughter the community,
We can stop this, Minecraft isn't a dictatorship, its a democracy, and we are the people. If we can all just shout loud enough we can stop this. -

Are you sure there isn't some sort of compatibility issue with some of the mods?

What's your internet like? I've never had problems with Mojang's servers.

As others have said, steve is just the skin, but for the purposes of this topic I'll consider him a character.
Steve is alone, what is good/bad is (generally speaking) relative. There is no good or bad unless there is something to base it off of, since steve is alone steve can make whatever he wants good and whatever he wants bad. Who says slaying animals is "bad" per se, we only say it's bad because that's our experience and intuition from the real world. But minecraft is hardly the real world, so who is to say steve is a hero or a villain.

I completely agree with this ^

There really isn't a reason for this to be implemented, the health bar is fine as it is.

I would just read the Minecraft Wiki, it's free and has everything you really need to know.

I never downloaded the map, I just peeked at the screenshots. The builds seemed small enough to not need to take an in-game look.
Also, don't take my criticism as hate on your builds

I've played the piano for a decade... I'm quite proud of that actually

It always irked me that mojang added new blocks without slab/stair variants.
