    Ok problems with laptop is now sorted. Still having some performance issues in modded minecraft. Vanilla minecraft runs like a dream, but as soon as forge is installed, the FPS is halved. I dont even have mods installed with forge.....


    Here are some JVM arguments that i use in both versions. In vanilla, i get whatever fps is set and in forge, its mostly 60 fps, which is not bad, until i install mods. Then i get unstable 30 to 50 fps.


    -XX:+UseG1GC -Xmx4G -Xms4G -Dsun.rmi.dgc.server.gcInterval=2147483646 -XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions -XX:G1NewSizePercent=20 -XX:G1ReservePercent=20 -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=50 -XX:G1HeapRegionSize=32M


    I also have optifine installed in forge. Should i leave optifine and try fastcraft or better FPS?

    Here are a few screenshots of the game. I left the JVM arguments out because i left it at default. What i meant by the launch options in the post is actually the correct JVM arguments that can improve my performance that maybe somebody can assist me with. What im looking for, is stable FPS. I dont necessarily want some incredible fps, but it must be at a minimum of 60 FPS. I am also planning on compiling a modpack.


    I have been playing minecraft since 2012 and i have been aware of it's janky performance. Like i said, i think the biggest issue i have is that i have like 8 cores in my cpu and minecraft, as far as i know, runs better with single high power core cpu's. My argument might be invalid if somebody can explain to me how to force minecraft to use at least 4 or 6 of those cores through JVM arguments. I know you can give minecraft more RAM, but that is useless if the cpu still under performs. Optifine activates another core, but 2 cores is still a lot worse than 4.


    Sorry for the reply taking so long. Been busy having all sorts of problems with this laptop, such as an overheating CPU that can be solved by kicking the fan into overdrive, but this laptop also has an inactive fan that might assist the CPU and i have no idea how to switch it on. I am also scared of breaking the fan if the fan in overdrive mode goes on for too long.

    Hi there. I recently got a new laptop and would like to know if it would be possible to run minecraft with stable 60 fps and a low amount of fps spikes. I am willing to mod to improve performance as well. Any launch settings would also be appreciated.


    The Specs:


    MSI PS63 Modern 8rc


    Nvidia gtx 1050 4GB vram

    16 GB RAM DDR4

    512 GB SSD hardrive

    Intel core i7 8565u 1.80GHZ


    The biggest factor i think is the fact that the cpu has 8 cores, but a single core only has 1.80 GHZ and minecraft primarily uses one core, which is troublesome, but if somebody can explain to me how to add more cores to minecraft, it would be very much appreciated.

    I do support the decision to rather focus on things that can improve you in real life, but the question is if Azanor is willing to pass the torch. There are alot of people still playing and modding minecraft who would gladly continue with the development and support of thaumcraft, but that is for Azanor to decide.

    Man it is really sad to hear that real life has interfered yet again with another great mod. I just wish it was possible to port the mod to newer versions. Nothing more, nothing less. Just a simple port of TC 4 to newer versions of minecraft like 1.10.2. I would even try to pay him just to allow someone else who will be happy to port the mod. I know azanor doesn't have the time, but there are a lot of people in the community who would gladly continue his legacy, even with just a port.


    I really want to move on to newer versions because of cool new mods like minecolonies, but i really don't want to continue without thaumcraft :(

    I love dark souls, so this mod is amazing! I just wish thaumcraft and ars magicka would update to 1.10.2, but those are gigantic mods and is going to take a very long time, excluding the fact that their creators have lives and their own real world problems to deal with. When those are updated, ill have no other reason to stay with 1.7.10 ever again!

    Please dont update to 1.10 until 1.8.9 is fully finished with all the features and with as less bugs as possible. I am already updating from 1.7.10 to 1.8.9 and there are only a few of my mods that have updated to 1.8.9 from 1.7.10 with even less updated to 1.10.

    Which version of chisel do you recommend? Apart from that, you just put it into mods and nothing else right? This texture rendering glitch is really becoming a headache :(

    I got optifine HD U6 and here is my specs:

    8 gb RAM

    intel i7 2.5ghz quad core

    nvidia geforce gtx 950m

    windows 10 64 bit

    i am also playing on a laptop


    and here is a picture of my mods (without techguns, cohflib and chisel). This happens with all 3 installed.
