posted a message on Did the Terrain Become BORING? (UPDATE 6/5/13 - 1.7 is a biome update?)
I would like to bring up this point to everyone because it has been on my mind lately, and I'm a super huge Minecraft Nostalgia freak. I feel not only has the terrain of Minecraft gone dull, but the thrill of it too. I still remember my first time playing in Alpha when I was so scared to go outside because of the creepers near the door and everything. Now, it's kinda like "eh, i'll just walk out the door".

The terrain is better now, much more mountains! :D

If you want to see much more mountains, play some Beta or Alpha, terrain was random and at its finest :D

For a player who has played for 2 years, I am still not very experienced in building, but I do pixel art, raid A LOT, and pvp pretty well.

    Quote from Frog81

They couldn't do it earlier because of the old launcher. I personally prefer the new versions as the world generation gives more flat land to build in that doesn't have to be cleared out and the newer redstone stuff is amazing. Plus mods in multiplayer.

Well like I said before, many people have their opinions on the minecraft versions (not like I have anything wrong with yours) and I do agree with you on the building space, but I personally feel that the terrain since 1.8 has gotten plain and I lose the "feel" for the game very quickly. I feel that during 1.7 and earlier, there was much more of a random variation of mountains and structures, but now it's mostly plains and snow and all boring land. I liked how when you spawned in beta there was a whole range of mountains and waterfalls around you, but now there is only ravines and flatland and not many hills and mountains.

I don't find anything wrong with your opinion, but I am in sort of an opposition with it (I hope that's a nice way I'm trying to word it, not trying to get haters) and feel that people might get a better feel for it while I start to lose it.

posted a message on Possible Minecraft Beta/Alpha Server
For all nostalgia freaks like me:

I was planning on creating a minecraft beta or alpha server because of the new feature on the launcher to go back in minecraft history. I'm not very sure about this because of the amount of time I have on my hands, but I can try to make this happen, and I won't whitelist because that is annoying. I would take the server into consideration if about 10 people message me with ideas and approval. Any others who would like to help out it is first come first serve.

    Thank you

posted a message on Are villagers attracted to something?
I checked the minecraft wiki for that one, because me and a friend on a server were trying to make a villager and iron golem farm, and it said that villagers are attracted to pumpkins.

Here's the post about the villagers from the wiki

"They are also attracted to pumpkins and doors. They will sometimes appear to socialize with Snow Golems probably because of their attraction to pumpkins."

This is my first post that is not about the earlier versions of minecraft and that nostalgia. HOORAY!! Lets throw a party.

Anyways, villagers are attracted to houses with doors (many doors), and pumpkins. Villagers seem to enjoy the pumpkins and they will interact with snow golems too because of their pumpkin heads.

I can't believe that minecraft has not done this earlier.

I just tried it out yesterday, and it feels great going back to alpha and beta versions. I hope the nostalgic players of minecraft use this to create servers that go back to early beta times, because those were the good days of minecraft, when world generation was great and not many complex items were added into the game.

I seem to be commenting on a lot of discussions about the old minecraft, because I thought minecraft was better that way (it's only my opinion, some people like new features in the game) and the world generation was better and more random, rather than having different variations of biomes. Also, the nostalgia about alpha and beta versions that I have makes me remember the good times me and friends had on servers and how we were such noobs at the time, unlike today when we are experienced with the game.

I totally agree with you on that! I do think they added too many items.

Finally! Another person that feels me on this point. I'm happy to see people like this around. :)

posted a message on What is your favorite version of Minecraft?
I've been playing minecraft since late alpha, and I really enjoyed all of the updates until 1.8 because I started to lose the "feel" for the game. My favorite version was beta 1.5, because that was the time minecraft was getting popular throughout my 7th grade class. Other versions that I feel can compare with it is beta 1.3 and alpha 1.2. All the experiences I had with the game then was great. 2 years later today, I feel the game over added items and features.

posted a message on Do you miss the old minecraft?
I really miss the old minecraft too. I've been playing since late alpha, and Once beta 1.8 came out I feel the terrain has gotten plain and there wasn't much to do anymore.

I have the minecraft version patcher, and I use it to go back to beta 1.5 when I felt the game was getting fun, because most of the people in my school started to play it and me and a couple of other friends were planning to make a server (which never happened, because we were all really big noobs at the time and my swimming always gotten in the way), and then I compare it to today's version. I feel that it was the feeling of being a noob is what I miss, because I go back to 1.5 and the only thing I can have fun with is the crazy terrain generations. It gets boring when you go back sometimes.

So if the game was still as simple as it was, maybe we wouldn't be having feelings of doubt and depression of back then, and it would have been much more of a less complex fantasy like game. I sort of feel they over-implemented things into the game, but I guess that's what fascinates people and develops the game more.
