I recently upscaled my terrain.png which included textures from Doku's RPG and Mixcraft HD to 64x64 using paint.net. The trick when resizing the terrain.png is to use the "nearest neighbor" algorithm, otherwise some of the textures bleed into each other. After upscaling I copied/pasted each individual texture into a temporary workspace, then applied an unfocus filter to spread out the pixels a bit. After that a quick sharpen filter, then I pasted the texture back into terrain.png. It would be so much easier to do the filter work directly on terrain.png, but it tends to cause artifacting that carries over into adjacent textures. Also, don't forget to use MCPatcher 1.1.6 to load your textures so that the lava/water glitch gets fixed. In any case, this is the result of resizing:
I'd like to release it, but I'm waiting to hear back from Doku and Koolwitak before I do.

Oct 14, 2010Try using Paint.net, available here: http://www.getpaint.net/Posted in: Mods Discussion
Probably the best way to start would be to use WINRAR to extract terrain.png from minecraft.jar, then open that in paint.net. From there you can simply draw your own images over the existing ones.

I agree with that. What to make it of?
How about a bucket of water in the middle?
Oct 13, 2010A troll is nothing more than a person who gets enjoyment from making other people angry. For the most part they are maladjusted brats whose parents should have raised them better. I've been a forum moderator for two major international online first person shooters, and our forums have a fair share of trolls. If it were up to me I would have all of them removed immediately. They offer nothing to the community except grief.Posted in: General Off Topic
