i think that everything is great except the troll. i think that all that should change is the color of it. i think it should have the color of netherrack. everything else is great.

Tunnel mites already have the texture of Netherrack. It's not like something as big as the Troll would be able to blend into the scenery anyway. More likely it would do better in shades of purple and gray.

I think what bugs me even more than the various forums issues are the people who keep claiming that something has been fixed when it obviously hasn't been fixed at all.

No. I'm aiming more to put the recipe for glowstone back to what it was, and also make it mineable by hand again. As long as i leave the 1-4 glowstone dust drop, then people wont actually lose out, since they would still be able to get a glowstone block from crafting 4 dust, they'd just need to smelt the result.

Do a search on this thread for Acid Rain and Ash Thermals, those are the weather effects that are being considered. It's just not worth adding them to the opening post until the goto tags get fixed.

Also, accidently wasting the hard earned wood on a handpick didn't help...
Anyway, great mod, and I like the idea of a handcart.
Eat a porkchop while you update :Bacon:

Actually, if you had started with the wooden handpick, that would have worked out great for you, because you'll generally always have 1 extra stick left over (since you can only make sticks in multiples of 2) By using the handpick to mine some cobblestone, you could have gathered the stone you'd need for a stone hatchet, and then used the remaining durability to mine stone for whatever stone tools/furnace you had need for and pretty much skipped straight over the wood tool tier entirely.

Awesome! And my point about the netherave beds?

The point of the gloomwood is to generate darkness for sleeping no matter where you are or what time it is. The gloomwood would just absorb whatever light the ravedyed wool would give off, and besides, that would require that people bring cloth from the overworld in order to create a netherbed, rather than being able to make it from nether materials only.
Plus we haven't even specified if ravegel even would be able to be used to dye cloth.

Why not every 1 block you move? The light levels are all in integers.

that's just the thing; the player doesn't move by integers, so the game has to calculate the player's position every .0000001 spaces they move to determine WHICH 1 block they are one and thus where the light level should be considered to be originating from.

Either way, it's a moot point. The advanced lighting system allows for moving lighting without issue, and for the old light system, yes, glowstone sand simply turns off.

Also, the New Nether proposes that both Glowstone blocks and Soul Glass ARE affected by switches and redstone, so both are means of providing lighting that can be turned on and off.

I'm also going to point out that I intend for the New Nether to revert Glowstone BACK to functioning as a glass that can be mined by hand and requires either 9 glowstone dust or to smelt a glowstone sand block.

The plan was to increase sapling drop rate to somewhere between 10% and 20% (currently, it's something like 6.5%) I rather like the intensity presented by only barely being able to get your first weapon by sunset. It also depends on the area you start. Verdant forests present a much easier time gathering those initial saplings than a desert.

I've had a reasonable amount of input to that thread, and there are a number of things I'm still not totally behind, particularly all of the tools, and the need for Aether tools to be able to mine any Aether blocks, as well as a handful of mobs/bossmobs that will apparently be able to deal direct damage to the player, but the ideas that they've used from this thread have been really well done from what I've seen.

I'm probably fully supporting about 50-75% of what the mod is doing, I'm waiting to see how well another 10-20% actually functions in practice to form an opinion on, and then the rest are just a few small things that I just don't like at all.

That is a good point. It would be pretty interesting to try to take on a Troll, Salamander, or Netherwurm with an entire group of players. I hadn't honestly been considering multiplayer when attempting to balance these though.

I am fairly certain about how easier it will be to implement, because I am an amateur coder who knows when things are and are not easy to script into a game. While in the long-term I would like RangeCraft to win, but for the here and now I want mine to be implemented as it would give a platform for RangeCraft to springboard from.
how does this give any platform at all to springboard from? You don't even offer a method for changing which arrow is fired.

Furthermore, Rangecraft already has a springboard; it's called Extended 2x2 Crafting, and Yofreke has already updated Daggers, Slings, Powderbombs and Grenades, and has implemented Spears, Bone and Iron Bows, the Igniter, Ghast Arrows, Spreadshot Arrows (very fun), as well as glass and Obsidian Arrows. RedstoneTorch and Glowstone Arrows still need some tweaking, and Netherrack Arrows are still coming along.
There's still some other stuff left to tweak, and of course everything will need to be updated to be 1.6.6 compatible, but your thread doesn't really benefit anything, and poison isn't something that can be sensibly be added to the game.

When the number in the title changes.

Besides, Notch has already come out with a 1.6.6 update. From what we've heard this is supposed to be the last update for 1.6, but we'll still probably wait a few days before we start working on updating 2x2 again, just in case he comes out with another bug fix.

Just for the record, I'm absolutely NOT satisfied with the changes that Notch has made to Glowstone. Now it's yet ANOTHER useful block that you need the pickaxe to mine, even while the Shovel, Axe, and Hoe are all but useless.

2 things- 1 obsidian is very hardpretty easy to get since you only need a bucket to gather the lava and water needed to make it, but glow stone is to easyactually harder to get than obsidian, but is much easier for players to specifically choose to gather, since they will always be able to tell where to find it, unlike gold and diamond that are scattered randomly around the overworld where they can't be seen until you stumble right onto them or by using strip mining tactics.
Diamond blocks would be what I would make it out of. Crazy? NoAbsolutely crazy, I mean unless you cheat or have no life, have you ever even SEEN the 90-126 diamonds you would need to make enough blocks for a portal? Most people barely gather enough diamond to make 1 or 2 blocks and that goes straight into pickaxes, armor, and swords, which leads to part two. Minecraft survival mode is to survive in shelters overnight. If there is no night, or enemies, we would camp in the Aether foreveruntil we inevitably fell off and killed ourselves, just like how we can stay in any place on the overworld without ever needing to worry about running into hostile mobs once we've placed torches in the area, that is why it should be out of diamondmade from glowstone, or not be added or and at least add enemies like giant Gahst like pegasaus thingsZephyrs and Swets

you had a couple of typos in your post. I corrected them for you.

that's been brought up before,(SO MANY TIMES) but that still assumes 2 things; A) it assumes that the Aether and Nether are physically connected, which is not at all verified, and B) it assumes that the Aether is the same amount above the Overworld that the Nether is below it.
