posted a message on The Aether(Anti-Nether Realm) Current Topic: New Nether
I am so disappointed with the latest batch of comments I've seen on this thread.

So I only suggest that sand, gravel, and any future blocks that follow the laws of gravity not be allowed in the Aether. I understand there should be a level of environmental hazard, but personally I just found this annoying.
What you are describing is the KEY environmental hazard that exists in the Aether. Not only would I not get rid of sand and gravel, but I have specifically intended for that to be one of hte many hazards in the Aether, and even pushed for mob designs that put the focus on that hazard instead of on Mobs being able to kill you.

The Aether only consists of blocks that only appear in the Aether, like how the Nether only consists of stuff found in the nether in The New Nether Thread (no more gravel).
    ****inghell

    NO. IT. DOESN'T.

If you can't read the freaking opening post, then don't talk. I don't care what the Aether collab mod is planning.

    ---
Also, I came up with an idea for a special liquid for the Aether, I don't know what to call it but I will make a description of it:

A strange glowing liquid that is purple. The liquid is clear and has the ability to slowly heal up wounds (1/2 a heart every 2 seconds). However iron tends to dissolve when it is in it, so it can't be picked up with iron buckets. Iron armor and tools will slowly lose durability while they're in it, other iron based items are eventually destroyed if they are left in this liquid too long. As it can't be picked up with iron buckets, you must use a golden bucket to pick it up. The liquid also flows 10 blocks far if it is allowed to, and its flow is much faster than water's (how water flowed [really fast] in 1.4) This liquid can't touch over world liquids and will vaporize if it's flow touches them (lava/water). If this liquid touches Midas Tears in the over-world, then the two liquids will create Chaos(Bleeding Obsidian) which can only be mined using a gold pick (What Chaos does is up to you Grey).
No. I don't know how many times this has come up, and every time it is explained that a liquid like this that can heal the player is OVERPOWERED. It doesn't matter what disadvantages you attach to it.

To activate the Aether portal ,I don't think it makes much sence to activate it, because you don't activate Nether portals by pouring lava into it. So maybe there could be a flint and steel counterpart, something like an Ice Wand? It could produce snow on blocks as opposed to fire, and maybe it could turn water into ice. So the crafting recipe could be a stick in the bottom center, a glowstone dust in the center, redstone on the top middle, right center and the left center. And then the rest of the blocks could be snowballs.
Gee... something that acts as an opposite to flint and steel. hrmm.. whatEVER could THAT be? Lets see, flint and steel creates fire when you right click on a block. I guess we need something gets RID of fire when you right click on a block. Oh golly gee, I think I've figured out what does that already; A BUCKET OF WATER!

I also think blocks in the Aether should have a Nether Counterpart.
    So maybe...
Aetherstone's (It could instead be like netherrack, except instead of infinite fires, it could be snow that can't melt? (Don't worry, I have an idea for another block that'll have the same properties of Aetherrock that were suggested before)) counter would be Netherrack,
Fall Clay's (It's affeced by gravity once redstone, or right clicking is applied) counter would be Tricksterrock ( It would have the same properties as the Aetherrock, but it would spawn in the nether at the edges of very high cliffs. :biggrin.gif: )
Floatsand's (Instead of what was previously suggested, it could fall up, and it would be found on the bottom of Aether islands) counter would be obsidian, I guess...
Quicksoil's counter would be Soul Sand
Darkgem's (Instead of providing light, it could "drain" light from the nearby area) counter would be Glowstone
Brightstone's (It looks like obsidian in negative colors and could be used to make Aether portals) counter could be Blightstone (It would look like a bit like stone with a mixture of brown, green, yellow. It could then be smelted in the brightstone)
    Cyrstals counter could be gloomwood.
Sand's could be gravel, and dirt's could be obsidian.
No. What is wrong with people's creativity that the closest thing to an idea they can come up with is "Aether is opposite of Nether, so all blocks should be opposite of all other blocks!"
Gee, Netherrack is red, so blocks in the Aether should be GREEN! and since light travels further in the Nether, Light should actually travel shorter in the Aether, and since you can breathe in the Nether, you should constantly suffocate while in the Aether, and since gravity points down in the Nether, gravity should point up in hte Aether!

The original Floatstone, Galestone, and Flowvein should be redstone related crafted blocks.
No. All of these are meant to be environmental hazards, and the difficulty of dealing with them is what offsets their value for building. They may ALSO be activated by redstone, or possibly they may be turned OFF by redstone, but they will not use redstone as their sole activation method.

Ores (With textures that match Aetherstone/Netherrack) would be found in VERY small veins in the Aether, but there'd be ALOT of them, and found in VERY large veins, but they'd be few and far between.
Ores in the Nether could be Redstone, Iron, and Coal, and ores in the Aether could be Lapis, gold, and diamond.
No. The aether already has ores. they're called Aetherrock, Floatsand, Galestone/Flowvein, and Crystal.

It's gonna be so much easier to get here now that the glowstone blocks only need 4 instead of 9.
Not really. I don't support the changes Notch has made to Glowstone. The Aether is supported by the New Nether, and the New Nether has Glowstone still made from 9 dust, but with the option to use 4 glowstone dust to create glowtone sand, which can be smelted into glowstone.

posted a message on New Nether... Survive This
I've been busy with work. I'm hoping to get some updates out by the end of the week though, but Yofreke is also pushing for a new release of Extended 2x2 crafting, so I need to devote some time to that as well.

Probably the whole New Nether idea. Your idea might be hard to code; the Tears are only supposed to work on iron.

It also works on diamond, blood, and raze materials.

How else do you expect to create a rope that the player can walk across/interact with in minecraft that isn't a type of block?

posted a message on My Idea on how to make the nether more fun
lol, no. Suggestions will get lost when you post them in their own little threads that fall of the front page in a few minutes and no one will bother searching for. Sabata and I actually keep a constant eye on the New Nether thread because it's being actively updated. Of course if the idea isn't going to work, isn't well balanced, isn't unique, etc, then it's not going to get added to the opening post.

posted a message on New Minecraftforum.net Known Issues
I just wanted to point out that Goto and Anchor tags have been fixed. Whoever is specifically responsible for fixing the issue, and/or whoever was responsible for making sure the problem was passed along to someone who could do something about it has my thanks.

Goto and Anchor tags have been fixed recently. I'll start to work on reorganizing things for the New Nether sometime this week (it's been a pretty hectic week so far and not looking to get any lighter)

keep an eye on your PM box.

    3) The poll is somewhat unhelpful, in the way that you can't choose two options, say Fireslime AND Pigmen.

That's because the move to the new forums removed the multiple selection option from the polls. t used to be that you COULD select multiple different options.

Of course, since Zurich hasn't been around for months, it's doubtful that the poll, or this topic will ever be updated.

posted a message on No more "view your posts"?
The issue isn't the fact that everything is marked as unread. The issue is that nothing in the "my content" section is organized by the date of the last post, and that no threads that you've posted in since the move show up in it either.I've posted in at least a dozen new threads since the move to the new forums and not a single one has shown up in "my content" section.
