I've noticed horses have a few weird quirks, for instance to spawn a baby horse, you have to mount the horse then right click it, maybe it's the same with name tags? mount then try right-clicking it.
also name tags, sweet! now i can actually name my pigs and quit getting mixed up.

You were right! Though I probably shouldn't have named the horse clad in diamond barding Bill the Pony since the horse I'm referencing was a sweet, pack animal lol. Awwww yeah!

:( unfortunately because it's right-click-to-apply I can't name my horse "Bill the Pony" since right-clicking makes you get on the horse. It's still a pretty cool feature though. Now I can finally name all the animals on my farm. I'll have to be careful about getting too attached otherwise I'll have to start living off of baked potatoes, mushroom stew and bread rather than cooked pork and steak.

EDIT: Thanks to Darndrakn, I figured out how to apply the name tag. Gotta be riding the horse and then right-click. Strange mechanic but I'll get used to it.

I wonder what the crafting recipe will be? Might be a string and paper; makes the most sense I think.

It's a real bummer that for the prevalence and vastness of the ocean biomes, they're all but empty. Hopefully, in this update or another, there will be some more ocean mobs or even randomized structures (sunken ships and stuff) like the temples that you get in the jungle and desert.

Pretty cool. I've been following Man at Arms since he first posted the video of him making the Adventure Time sword. I'm waiting for him to make the Master Sword from LoZ.

posted a message on should horses be changed?
I don't mind how Mojang used the models from Mo' Creatures. I've never used the mod so this is my first experience with the models and I can say that they are a tad more "complicated" with the joints and stuff but that doesn't bother me.

From the picture you provided in the OP, I personally think that the horses from "simply horses" look a bit....strange. Like disproportionate and their noses are very squashed, like their faces got cut in half.

Up at the top right corner it says version and then status, when you first open the launcher it says awaiting download or something like that next to status (I forget exactly what). Once you click play it should download all the files, mine closed all by itself the first time without the download completing but a retry fixed it. The status changes to "Up To Date" when done and the game launches to the start menu screen in it's own partial screen window with the launcher window still running in the background. Or at least that is how it is apparently supposed to work.

Looks like maybe your download is being blocked by your firewall and/or Windows Defender/other anti-virus program. Try turning off your firewall and disabling your anti-virus and then see if it will download the files. Just make sure you don't forget to turn everything back on before going back out on the internet.

Yeah, it's silly internet security kaspersky messing something up. I had figured it might've been my AV but then I saw that other people with Windows 8 were having an issue and thought that I was wrong with my first guess.

I'm unfortunately still having issues however. I have to disable my AV each time I want to have a go with the snapshot. I added the minecraftdev.exe to my trusted list for my firewall and applications in IS Kaspersky and my computer still isn't having it.

Hopefully it's just a bug to be ironed out since the launcher is still such a new thing in development.

Thanks for helping me figure it out!

Hm, I had hoped that this would somehow fix what I was encountering since I'm on Windows 8 too but unfortunately I'm still getting the same error report. Thankfully it's just a snapshot so it's not like I can't play the official patch. Guess I'll just have to wait until Dinnerbone fixes it.

The error report below if anyone's interested:

Unless I'm completely missing something. In order to play this new snapshot, you get the new launcher and then launch it right? And then the launcher is supposed to download the necessary files once you log in? (I never get this far, I just get the error report as soon as I open the .exe). Unlike the other snapshots in the past, there's no .jar to download?

    I have windows 8.

Yeah, I have windows 8 too. I was thinking it was my anti-virus flubbing things up and blocking the new launcher's ability to download stuff. I hope dinnerbone fixes it soon-ish since I'd really like to try out horses lol.

posted a message on Whats wrong with adfly?
I never mind supporting artists by clicking adfly links. What bothers me is when it's a clear attempt at a money grab (even though, from what I recall, one needs hundreds if not thousands of link clicks to make even a pittance). Like for example when the texture pack is a "simple pack" and is just in fact default with all the details removed or if everything is a bucketfill; these two things require next to no effort.

posted a message on Horses vs Pigs
I don't really mind the idea of horses. For my own romantic tendencies I do want them just so I can gallivant around the plains for laughs. I never really saw pigs as a viable way of getting myself from one place to another anyway. They were too unwieldy and difficult to control. I would rather just run-jump my way to whatever place I was heading to. I'd even use minecarts and rails over pig riding as a legitimate way of getting to places, even though you need to lay down the rails and such.

Personally, I always saw pigs as a gag and novelty, even when we could "control" them via carrot and stick. And whatever charm pig-riding had was quickly lost to me. Though I can understand why people would be against horses since it might further devalue pigs. But honestly, until a snapshot comes out, we know next to nothing about how Mojang is going to implement horses and what sort of balances they're going to put in.

Edit: Whoops, I misunderstood something! :<

Sorry, I don't really know how to address this issue. I'm not even sure if dropping the sky0 folder into the environment folder in the .bin would work. You'd probably have to create a default texture pack to drop into the texture pack folder.

Did you patch Optifine with MCPatcher? Or did you try to patch Optifine over MCPatcher or vice versa?

posted a message on Horse poll: Yay or Neigh? (pun intented)
I don't mind the idea of horses. The first snapshot with them in it isn't even out so it's sort of silly to complain about them without having all the facts and without knowing what they'll bring to the game.

All everyone is doing is assuming and supposing. For now, I'm going to put my faith into Mojang to know what the heck they're doing, that'll horses will be balanced properly. After all, it's not like they're messing around with MC just for teh lulz. Minecraft isn't just a game to them; it's their livelihood.
