Other than that, you'll need to do the exact same steps for the file hosting site (like mediafire) you like most to upload your texture pack (the actual zip file).

Then describe your texture pack in the thread, post lots of pictures, include the download link and spend lots of time working on your thread to make it look good and present your pack as good as it can, so the people actually download it ;P

posted a message on A simple question, if you may.
In my opinion, to become a good artist you need two things: talent and practice.
You'll need a little talent to become artist, but the main part is how much you practice. The good thing is that YOU can decide how much you practice. As you said you got some good looking textures, so you maybe just want to do them again and soon you'll have your own style and a nice texture pack.

One other piece of advice I can give you is that you may want to make some of your textures in groups. For example when editing the gui images, I usually edit them one after another, but all on the same day, so everything is in the same style and the gui looks consistently.

Well I edited the font.png myself (and only the font.png I don't want to edit all those glyph_XX.png's that came with the language update)

posted a message on Mod support ONLY texture pack
What sense is there to provide mod textures that should go with the default pack?
The mods provide textures that are similar to the minecraft textures, so anyone not using a texture pack will be just fine with the original mod textures.
And all players, who uses a texture pack, will most likely want textures that go well with their pack, not some default like whatever textures.

Anyway, if you want suggestions then make textures for all mods included in the technic pack, should take long enough :)

posted a message on Dynamic Texture Assigning (updated Sept 10, 2012, including changing models!)
I really like this idea! Here are some of my thoughts of it:

First I would suggest putting all additional textures in another file. Here's why: Let's assume you make a texture pack for version 1.2.5 and you add another texture on an empty spot. Then you assign this texture to the top of dirt (or whatever). Now a new version of minecraft is released and a new block is added to the game. The texture for this block is added on the empty spot. Now your text file doesn't say anything about the new block so the default spot is used to get the texture and the new block looks like the top of dirt. :/ Not very nice.

Now, I know what you're thinking (possibly). That something like this will be having texture artists overly use this causing more a decrease in performance. It would allow artists to not only make more derivative textures, and take blocks with (in default) multiple textures and make them use one texture for all sides.

I think this won't affect performance so much. Look for example at big mods or even mod packs like the technic pack. Each mod has it's own additional image file for textures and the game still runs fine on most computers.

But that is way too much! I don't want to have to modify all of this code just to make a texture pack!
The great thing about this idea, is that it is all optional. It is up to you, as an artist, how much of this you are comfortable using. Use all of it, use some of it, or just do the same thing you've been doing (none of it). It is up to you. Just like a texture pack itself, just because you change one texture location, does not mean you have to change them all. If you don't specify a texture map/location whatchamacallit Minecraft assumes to use default, just like if you don't modify items.png your items are all default.

Also doing the actual textures will take much, much, much longer than writing this additional text file. And you don't have to do it all at once: You just have to write one line after making a texture; can't take longer than 30 seconds ;)

By the way, using methods is a great idea.

I hope this will be added or someone writes a mod for it!

posted a message on 1.,2.5 Red vs Blue
What does it have to do with 'Red vs Blue' ? I don't get it...

Otherwise I might like the gravel or whatever the path in the village is made from (it looks more like cobblestone to me) but I would like to see it in a close up picture. Also make a better picture of the wood and make the pics at daytime ;)

Also what did you expect from putting it up here? It doesn't even have a 'WIP' tag in the title.
Please also use [img] codes so you can see the pictures here in your thread.

posted a message on Camera Studio [V2.18] (standalone - MODLOADER - FORGE) (VIDEO RECORDER)
    Your mod is great :)

But I think there's a bug... the game crashes if you are at the exact position of the point you want to go to. For example create a point with /cam p then move around, go back to the point with /cam goto p1. If you now enter /cam goto p1 again to make sure you haven't moved, the game crashes.

Otherwise it's really helpful and I especially like the feature that the points are stored even if you are kicked from a server!

Why don't you just use a texture folder for your texture pack, and then after making changes, use f3+t in game?

I didn't even know this is possible :) Works perfectly and is a lot easier, thank you

For me the "Detect Texture Pack Changes" option does not work, I can't change the pack when it's selected in the game. I'm currently using Snapshot 12w19a, no mods.

Do other texture pack authors have the same issue or does it have to do with my minecraft?

Please fix it, this feature is awesome :)

posted a message on Experience orb Glow
    So

I tested your pack (which is awesome btw, does it have a thread?) and the xp orbs did not glow with the xporbcolor.png in place. Then I removed it from your pack and they started to flicker, so it works right.

One thing I noticed though was that my image viewer (IrfanView) said your xporbcolor.png is actually a bmp file with a wrong file extension.

Finally I want to mention that I actually liked the flickering: Maybe you can make your xporb.png all gray and add the color via the xporbcolor.png so theres a smooth transition between the different colors ;)

Same thing here :D I play most of the time using my own pack and shortly after I started playing TechnicPack I also started editing all the mod textures ;)

Apart from that I recommend Honeyballs MeineKraft. I like it very much and I also use some MeineKraft textures in my own pack.
