Okay, MC2.0 was a good joke. Meanwhile, I find 1.5 changes to skeletons and zombies are a good step in the direction of making MC a little more challenging. Personally I think that's all they should do: Keep making incremental improvements to the game.
Too bad version 2.0 was April Fools joke. Would've been awesome if it was real.
Personally, the changes to the skeletons, the rapid shooting and practically 100% accuracy sucks. It sure does make the game harder, no problem there. The problem is it's at a ridiculous level. Before if you were good, even without armor you could take on 2-3 skeletons with an iron/diamond sword. Now it is impossible without some kind of armor, and with enough skeletons even an enchanted diamond armor is nothing.
I think it's a step in the right direction, but they really gave the difficulty a big boost.
Again, it's hard, no problem there. But it's not the right kind of hard. If you lose really it isn't your fault for losing, except for even getting in the fight. I don't like that. The right hard is when you can do it, if you lose you feel like it's your fault, and if you win it's because you were able enough. Right now it's just impossible to get that feel I think.
I think it's a good way to push the bow though. But I don't like that either. I'm a melee user, I only use the bow in PvP, I never use it for mobs, but now I'm forced to, and I don't like that. It gives me less freedom than before.
Again, these are just my thoughts, however I think they're quite true.
You've got some great ideas.
Going along with the theme of trying to improve the game, if you add in a bunch of new weapons, there's one variable that you haven't mentioned. That is variable weapon switch time. For example, in a game like Skyrim, all of the archers that you find use daggers as secondary's. Why use a dagger, as opposed to a high knockback weapon,so you could then switch back to your bow? Because if the enemy has gotten that close, they will not have time to pull a big weapon out. This wouldn't be a big difference, just a second or two, but enough time so that it's a factor to consider when using multiple weapons.
By the way, there have been a lot of good features suggested in the forums since your first post. It might be a good idea to go back and update the first post.
Wow! Yes! Can't believe I missed that, good job.
I also agree that we need to update the original post so that it reflects new points ve've introduced.
UPDATE!:
I have updated all the maps' custom presets in order to be updated to new format. Also, I will soon update the post regarding these custom presets, and how they're gonna affect the future of this thread.
Mostly, I'm gonna update the requirements for your requests, and remove map downloads. All in favor of this new tool.
Sorry, but this rant is rather pointless in my opinion. Not that some things couldn't be implemented but let me explain why:
As I've played video games well over a decade now, I can see this trend going nowadays, that every game points you where to go, what to do and what not to do. This trend can even be seen in a single game as it evolve over years, for example World of Warcraft. Few years back you didn't have quests pointing exactly to where you need to go.
The problem with this concept is that it discourages any sense of creativity or improvisation. I think that Minecraft is this popular because you learn the game through interaction with the virtual world, and not through boring manuals or hints.
I see what you mean, but what he's suggesting is to make the current Minecraft even better. It won't give you steps to take or a direction to take, quite the contrary, it will give you a lot more stuff to do and think about while playing. Make the game better in other words, not change what it is, but rather add or change a lot to it, in order to improve this sense of freedom it already has. At least that's how I see it.
I suspect that if Minecraft had been coded in C/++ rather than Java, sales would be MUCH worse due to the lack of any ability to mod it (even now they STILL haven't put a single bit of a mod api into Minecraft months after they said they would get at least a basic barebones framework going).
250,816 threads with 3,929,408 posts. That's from the 14 [sub]forums dedicated to all things modding on the MCF site.
From the newly created FTB modpack forums: 2327 threads with 24,631 posts.
From the somewhat longer-lived Technic/Tekkit modpack forums: 26,043 threads with 219,385 posts.
Totasl: 279,186 threads and 4,173,424 posts. That's 23.15% of ALL of the posts on MCF + FTB + Technic forums, as in almost A QUARTER OF ALL OF THE POSTS; and that's just the lower limit.
I kind of agree, but if they had that Mod API, there wouldn't be any problem at all, because you would be able to make the mods, the problem is they haven't.
Oh yeah I agree with the RPG thing, I mean other people against the change will cry out that.
It would be cool if you could like make a magical armor that doesn't take damage, only it's magic power, so you can just re-enchant that instead of having to go find the resources again.
I almost agree fully with this post. The one thing I do not agree with is Endermen being hostile from spawn time, after you beat the EnderDragon. This would make the game hugely harder and very annoying, because you don't have a moment of peace.
This is very well thought out actually, I would really like this game design, people would cry "RPG!" but what the heck, it's just another piece of Minecraft that would make it infinitely much more challenging. +1

Begin! I think it's good. Compared to the current Minecraft I'm very happy with it, very very happy.

Is that a reference to EgoRaptor's Megaman Sequelitis? If it is, VIVA GAME GRUMPS!

On what do you not agree? How do you think it could be improved?

Great thinking, I agree with this man/woman.

Sure! Could you please go to my post and tell me how you want it? Just so that I make sure it's exactly how you want it.

Indeed it is still active (check the headline of the op).
Could you please provide some more info that I posted that I might need while making it? Thanks.
