Chippendale's mill is quite spooky, fairly certain he shares the property with associate friends.
But indeed Lightning Bolt is one of my personal favourite "art-metal" (as Chippendale refers themselves to)/noise bands of the 21st century along with White Suns, who are extremely visceral.
Brian had to leave his space recently. The Fire Marshall wasn't digging all the violations. Plus he just had a kid.
I'll listen to White Suns. Have you gotten into Arab on Radar?
That's rubbish good sir. You want intense bass guitar play:
YES. LIGHTNING BOLT. PROVIDENCE RHODE ISLAND BABY!!!!!!!!!!
I know Brian Chippendale (the drummer.) He's a ****ing sweetheart. I've been to his "house" (actually just a giant mill-space for his art,) and it was an awesome experience. He played a Black Pus (his solo act) set and the cops came at some point cause he was too loud. I remember a girl was headbanging too hard so she faceplanted right next to Brian while he was playing. Brian finished the set, got up, and said "what happened?" There was a lot of blood on the floor.
Lightning Bolt is an important band. David Bowie was spotted at a couple of their gigs too..........
edit: also you are absolutely right. Brian Gibson is a swell bass player
Lived in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and South Carolina. Been to every state in New England. It's a gorgeous region.
Lived in the UK for six months last year. Loved it. Loved the people, and the drinking age
Been to Amsterdam a couple times. It's a grand old city with so much to do. I loved every second of it.
I visit Ontario about once a year to see family. I went to Quebec a couple weeks ago with my boys, a good time was had by all. Except for buddy who got arrested. That wasn't very fun.
I've been to British Columbia, but it's been a loooooong time. Super pretty though.
i think the best thing to do is act unphased by an awkward silence and let it pass.
(it normally works for me, and now i don't really care, i guess they're 50% less awkward now)
i think its important to understand that you dont ALWAYS have to be yapping about pointless things with people. the people im closest with are the ones who i can comfortably share a silence with. not all silences are awkward. something doesnt always have to be said.
ask them what they like doing for fun, if theyre in school, do they have a job, have you seen this tv show, have you seen this movie, have you heard this new record... etc etc
Didn't work long for my wife either. I admit she stayed on it for a good few months. But I knew it wouldn't last because she decided to try it coincidentally at the same time she had ankle surgery and couldn't get up and down all the time to go outside and smoke. By the time she healed, she was back on smokes. Not that I am judging or anything. I have my own addiction. It's just not tobacco. Addictions are hard to kick.
definitely. having an addictive personality doesnt help. always trying to keep it in check.
about a month ago, i invested in a vaporizer so i could stop buying cigarettes all the time. it worked for a while. i didnt hate it and i liked how i could do it in my house, but i didnt like doing it in public. plus i just enjoy the act of smoking a cigarette better.
ive already got my money back on the vape (havent bought cigarettes for a month, besides this week) but yeah. didnt work. maybe ill try again next year.
also i have a thing for lung disease. mostly that.
