    I *LOATHE* trying to find that tower, so I don't even bother anymore in new worlds - I just use NBTE when I feel powerful enough to go get that podium.

    Hopefully, when Mithion says that tower/structure bit of the next version will be different, he means that this whole "find the Archmage Tower" thing will no longer be a pita. Or that it will be completely unnecessary because there will be other ways to unlock advanced casting.

    Yeah, I was down there but found nothing.

    Oddly enough - and I don't know what the heck is going on, now - I just pulverized a stack of iron ore and got some pulverized ferrous. That didn't happen at all with 3 other stacks or iron ore... but now I have what I need so I guess it's all good.

    I can *not* find Ferrous Ore anywhere. I have branch mined Y6, Y12, Y16, and Y20. Burned through 13 Diamond Pickaxes.

    Tons of Tin, Copper, Gold, Thaumcraft shards, coal, redstone. I found just under one stack of diamonds doing Y6 and Y12.

    But no Ferrous Ore. The only pointers I have to it are: "Found on lower layers" and "found by pulverizing Iron" and I've pulverized two full stacks of Iron Ore and not got any ferrous anything - just iron dust.

    What am I doing wrong? I want to build an Induction Smelter but I can't get invar ingots.

    (I'm using the latest version of TE - not using any modpacks. Thermal Expansion, Buildcraft, Forestry + addons, Thaumcraft, and Ars Magica)

    What you are looking for in terms of empowering your spells are exactly modifiers. There are several modifiers that you can add to spells, such as "Damage", "Healing", "Bounce", "Gravity", "Lunar", "Piercing", etc. There's about 11 shapes, 60 components, and 15 modifiers you can mix and match. It's a large system, and allows for just about anything.

    In short, yes you can make spells that do more damage, or buffs that last longer. However, the price of the spell will increase to match, as you add additional modifiers and components, which makes sense.

    Currently, in AM, in order to unlock the most powerful casting mode, you need to spend a lifetime looking for the archmage tower (or cheat) and get that podium. Seems to me that it would make more sense to unlock better casting modes through the perk system (or whatever I saw there when you chose projectile and dig at the occulus).

    Damage scaling could use a little bit of improvement. Right now, any of my combat spells at regular power do about 1/5 of the damage of my enchanted bow - my weaponry is more viable in a fight than my combat spells are... unless I change the damage scaling in the config file. Increased damage could also be a 'perk' there. As you get better with certain elements (or whatever), you get more effective with them and do more damage.

    Will we be able to use that occulus to create spells with longer durations? Like a custom Flight spell that lasts longer than normal?

    How, exactly do I hook up my Clydesdales to a vardo?

    I lassoed them together and created an x between them. Nothing happens, they are just lassoed together. I lasso the cart and then try to lasso it to the horses... and nothing. I spawned two new Clydesdale horses and *made sure* that they were harnessed and repeated the process. Nothing happened.

    What's a whippletree? How do I get one? Is it craftable? Is this feature just not yet implemented?

    What's a train hook? The instructions on the first page say to use it, but I see nothing in the creative inventory called a train hook.

    I probably sound like an idiot. But I'm having a real heck of a time trying to get this to work.

    I have an Essence Nexus that is full of energy. I placed a conduit down with two crystal pillars so that I could pipe the essence to my calefactor and fabricator. The conduit is blue/teal but the essence will *not* pipe through it. If I move the calefactor within range of the nexus itself, the essence goes straight to it, not through the conduit.

    Are there some other rules about conduits that I should know about? I have this conduit about 6 blocks from the essence nexus... everything else seems to be working, just not the conduit.

    I'm having some trouble creating the Infernal Furnace and it's only happening in the basement of my house. I have the research complete and I can create the furnace outside (exactly 15 blocks in one direction and 8 blocks up) in the *same* aura node space (currently reading 690/699 - None).

    Pardon the reiteration: I can create the furnace above ground. I can't create it in my basement - I right-click with the wand (of the adept) and... nothing. Unless I'm outside and then... poof... Infernal Furnace in a spot I don't want it. Sucks a bit because I had a nice set up in the basement with a little chute to the top just like I've done in other worlds and just in this one stinkin' location it's not working. :(

    Any idea what's going on?



    EDIT: figured it out. I only had one block of space above the furnace. When I lowered it one more block everything worked.

    I'm going to ask a question. Before I ask that question, I want to be crystal clear about what I'm NOT asking when I ask my question.

    1.) I. Am. Not. Asking WHEN an update for 1.6 will be released
    2.) I. Am. NOT. Asking whether or not people THINK an update for 1.6 should be released

    And I am in no way suggesting that I think it's even NECESSARY for an update of Thaumcraft to Minecraft 1.6.

    WHAT I am asking is whether or not Azanor might be doing such an update or if he's just going to leave this with 1.5.2. That's all. It's out of curiosity. Passive, idle curiosity.

    Somebody tried asking earlier whether or not there would be an update. Rather than be nice, everybody crawled up his ass and acted like d-baggers.

    Yep, I used that and found that the coords should be -599, 99 (this frustrates me because I've gone out 5000 blocks in every direction before finding out about NBTE) but that spot (and everywhere near it) is just empty forest.

    Oh well. Screw it. I'll just spawn in the damned podium. I loathe cheating (loathe it) but I just can't take it anymore. Too bad I can't spawn the fight that's allegedly involved - I was really looking forward to that.

    Okay, I need help finding the archmage tower. I've spent my entire day (from 9:30 AM to 10:02 PM) looking for this infernal tower and I can't find it anywhere in my world. There has got to be a more reliable way to find it (and charming wisps? doesn't work for me - they all lead me North and then disappear).

    Please. For my sanity. Somebody spoil this for me. Please. It's not even fun even more :(

    I am having an incredibly difficult time trying to figure out what, exactly, Clairvoyance is supposed to be doing for me. I mean, I know what it's supposed to do, but whenever I cast it, the results are inconsistent.

    Example: standing in one spot, I cast the diminished version of the spell and a nice, sparkly, rainbow line appears in the air. It's straight for a few blocks, then the last block of the effect makes an abrupt 90-degree turn. Still standing in the same spot, I cast the diminished spell again. And the line points in a different direction. A third attempt, and it points into the ground. Going 100 blocks in any of those directions (x, z) gets me 0 towers. Digging down to bedrock where the spell pointed gets me either a cavern or nothing.

    Example 2: (diminished spell at every cast, but now moving in direction of pointer) the pointer appears, I move directly to its end and recast. Now the pointer is going in a radically different direction. So I follow that. Recast. The pointer sends me right back to where I started.

    Probably, I'm just not clearly understanding what the limitations of the spell are. I know what it's supposed to do, but it has not yet once actually pointed me to a tower (though I did accidentally stumble upon an archive after a few hours of this).

    Am I doing it wrong? If so, how do I do it "right"?
