I also found Savanna M (has a lot of the dirt that grass doesn't grow on), along with Roofed Forest M (again, I can't tell the difference).

That's an "M" biome. I don't know what the "M" stands for, but the taller variation of Birch Forest is called "Birch Forest M". I've also encountered Extreme Hills M (has a lot more gravel) and Swampland M (haven't figured this one out yet).

Am I the first person to encounter the Flower Forest, BTW?

No. Hoppers don't require power, they can only receive and dispense items in specific directions, and they can't drop items on the ground.

As of the newest snapshot,

Anything that is dropped into a hopper ON TOP of a furnace goes to the top slot.
Anything that is dropped into a hopper TO THE SIDE of a furnace goes to the bottom slot.

This works with brewing stands, too.

You don't have to link them at an incline, you can link them horizontally as well.

The only way you can't go is up.

On-topic, I don't like when they release official patches in the middle of snapshots, because this happens.

The container names show up for chests, trap chests, furnaces, dispensers, enchantment tables, and brewing stands.

They do NOT show up for crafting tables, anvils, hoppers(!), Ender chests, or storage minecarts.

Speaking of which, has anyone noticed a weird glitch where the blocks around the detector rail keep propagating charge even after the minecart has passed? You can place new redstone lamps on the blocks and have them be powered, or even remove the detector rail and the blocks will keep propagating charge. The only way to get them to stop is to destroy the blocks.
