Correct, but since Assembly is nothing like C/C++, you may want to read the ARM Architecture Reference Manual.
I believe you want to disassemble as a Mach-O file as iOS apps use the Mach-O format.
Jocopa3 has a very in depth tutorial for modding iOS here: http://www.minecraft...ke-mods-for-ios

thank you. i'll be giving jacopa3's tut a look. i'll put off disassembling until after i read that.

This is a bit misleading. IDA is a disassembler, not a decompiler. It can only provide ARM assembly code, not C code.

    You have to open /var/mobile/Applictions/*/minecrftpe.app/minecraftpe

oh, i see. thanks for the correction. i can still build mods/unlocks with the ARM assembly code, correct?

and i did open that file. the IDA i'm using allows me to disassemble as either a Binary file or Mach-O file.
is it the ida or am i doing something wrong

If you start a new file a window will pop up. In the window select "binary file" then go to processors and select "ARMv7" or something like that, then hit set. When you continue the file will decompile into arm and the light will be either red or yellow in the toolbar up top. When the light is green you can hit Alt+T to search for strings you think might relate to whatever you're trying to change.

thank you, i figured that i had to do something along those lines.(...no i didnt) this is all very helpful, thanks for lending your knowledge on the subject.

there isnt an "open as" option in my decompiler. if i rename the file .armv7 will that do the job?

    ?

i figured a response that in no way benefited or helped to advance the topic deserved a similar response.

please people, if you aren't going to help the topic's cause or at least bring new ideas to the topic, don't bother commenting.

Lol, bud, if PE's source code was available there'd be better mods than "jump higher" and "bigger spiders" :P

yes, make that a double and top it with extra special sauce please

    In /var/mobile/Applictions/*/minecrftpe.app
    There is a file 'Minecraftpe'
    The file has no extension!
    Decompile that! :)
Open it as ARMv7 in the IDA decompiler! :)

thank you for being so helpful!!! :)

You need to decrypt your app. This means either using clutch or just getting the app from installous.

.... so i bought the app for no reason? i should have just downloaded it from installous in the first place

so, is there any way to decompile the app and make the source code accessible? i know decompilers are expensive, what i really mean to ask is does anyone know of a work around? a way i can look at the "code" and see "what's what" then try and add my own bit of coding to the game? i know people have figured this out already but i haven't. any ideas helping me get started would be greatly appreciated

most of the 0.3.3 mods cause my MCPE to crash. the only one that works is the fly in survival mod and that causes my MCPE to become "unopenable" (not a word i know). i then have to delete and reinstall MCPE everytime i use that mod. the others just crash my game.

and yes, i am using a legit copy of MCPE 0.3.3. i purchased it. and im using 0.3.3 mods. it should work, why dont they?

for ios. and truthfully. i do not know what i'm doing. i've been reading tutorials and have very little coding knowledge. i'm hoping to learn how to mod by a "trial and error" process and referencing other available mod codes. hopefully i'll come up with pretty unique ones. custom items of my own would be nice. (which is practically every minecrafter's dream lol) an exploding sword strike or increasing knockback distance. coding in a new item would be awesome. it's possible on the pc version. i would love to give it a shot. as far as corrupting the file, i know the risks, but i'm still willing to take them. hopefully if i do come up with anything, i can release them :SSSS: :SSSS: :SSSS: :SSSS: :SSSS:

I was just wondering what files are required for me to mod MCPE. I've been looking on the forums for an old topic i read on this very subject. it included suggestion, tips, and the necessary files. As of late, i can not locate that topic or any topic that has all the information i need. So i figured i'd just post one and ask for help.

would someone please help with locating the required files?
