Looks exciting so far, glad the dungeons have above-ground indicators.

Finished terrain.png for my 32x pack.

(Ignore fire and lava, they are animated separately)

Awesome work! Been using it a bit, my only crit so far is that the top of the crafting table looks a bit too much like generic wood. I often place crafting tables into the floor so it makes them a bit hard to see. Perhaps add some kind of 3x3 inset grid on the top or something?

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I'm super curious as to how you created/recorded the seamlessly repeating lava animation, since it was originally generated with code. (and didn't ever repeat, since it was based on random values)

I have old procedural textures implemented in my mod, and the new texture
system allows writing textures to files without much hassle.
So I literally recorded them, and then did some post-processing (tiling
flowing texture, adding transition, stitching) with ImageMagick.

Assuming the fifth texture is gravel, the sixth is bedrock, and the eleventh is cobble? Amazing work. I think it's kind of strange that all the grass goes in one direction though. Top grass has to be one of the hardest textures in the game to do. Definitely keep working on it.

The fifth is cobblestone, the eleventh is cobble bricks, a block I added to my server.

Some 32x textures. Top grass is still a pain.

I got nostalgic and made a couple of tiles.

Is there a face in the bottom left block there?

I did the minecraft logo. I'm not sure what I think of it. The original is petty strong-- obviously not Developer-art. Don't what to replace it with an inferior HD version.

    What do you think?

I think the highlights aren't strong enough, but it looks pretty good overall.

Erm... do you realize there are 2 (possibly more) spots there that don't move and stick out painfully? One is on the left... it's small+sharp square and visible for a large portion of the animation. Also, is this for flowing lava, still, or both? I personally dislike 'flowing' still animations, I'd imagine many people do.

Thanks for the crit. I may fix it eventually, I was just really glad to be done with the animation as it was quite a drag to create.

As for the lava type, it's just "lava." There is no distinction between flowing or still lava in classic. It does mean that this animation gives a "drifting" effect, but I personally find it acceptable.

I do, It's not too much slower because I don't have many models or other more demanding resources but I still like testing and tampering in a smaller folder because I'd prefer constant refreshes to be as fast as possible and easy to access.

I have a little challenge for anyone who's up for it...

Make a tree using only 5 colours for both the log and leaves

I'd like to see how others approach it.

Here's what I came up with:

Thank you for updating to 1.8! Although I have to ask, is there any way we can get the 1.8 hat layers to be 3D and an option for the thin arms?

I can't find any good previewers besides this one, and this one would be a dream come true if it just had those features.

I definitely agree with Seradicus. I might join if we can just focus on a few blocks and not be overwhelmed with all the blocks there are these days.

also we totally didn't conspire together for these comments
