Not really. He is using a one sentence post to generate a discussion on a good point. While we all know that Minecraft won't become a racing game, we are headed towards an RPG wasteland of noobs and snobbish older players. He is making the point that the argument that the game is Notch's is ********. I agree that the community shouldn't be in charge, but we are Beta TESTERS. We are the ones who will decide what this game will become for future players. Keep that in mind.
Actually, yes, really. Beta tester does not equal game developer or designer. We don't decide what this game will become for future players, the developer does. Notch and crew are not obligated to listen to or follow any feedback we offer. When it comes to design decisions, that is not up to us, and Mojang has made it pretty clear that's not the kind of feedback they care about. Our only role as beta testers is to point out bugs and balance issues, not direct design decisions. Keep THAT in mind.

So yeah, I like the idea of only enchanting gold stuff. Though, they should bump up the durability a little bit.

The majestic cry of the wild ClearlyNotAProgrammer in it's natural habitat. The ClearlyNotAProgrammer flourishes on internet boards where it eats a healthy diet of telling actual programmers how to do their job. Look at that beautiful plumage!

As for Enderproofing your house, dig a moat, or put water inside your walls.
That way, if they remove a block, the water will spill out and kill them, limiting the damage they can do.

It's also incredibly mis-leading; if your bed is on a second story, for example, you're fine, but it doesn't have anything about that. Not to mention it's pretty much just means for people who read the wiki and think that means they know everything can be condescending to people who are getting attacked in their sleep.

Notch said "a sky dimension." You got a sky dimension. It has floating islands and everything. It isn't Notch's fault it doesn't meet your exacting specifications.

Really doesn't work.

Do you seriously think Notch picked November to compete with Skyrim, a completely different game in 95% of respects which draw entirely different crowds, instead of the obvious reason, the same reason Bethesda picked their date, "because 11/11/11 is a really ****ing cool date?"
Do you seriously think than Notch then decided it "wouldn't work" (maybe because he realized the $20 indie building game and the $60 console RPG aren't even in the same market!) and moved the date to compete with Saints Row 3 instead, instead of the reason he provided, "it's really ballsing hard to find a convention center on 11/11/11?"
And do you really then blame Mojang for not being clairvoyant and not foreseeing that a crunch time may occur in the last few weeks several MONTHS in advance?
Seriously, you keep claiming that people are "white knighting for Notch" (which is not what white knighting means, by the way), yet what you just told me entirely ignores existing evidence and goes completely beyond what can logically expected of a human being.
EDIT: Also, for record, you got exactly what you paid for. You paid for the game "as it exists." Notch could never work on MineCraft another second and live in a house made of your money, and you wouldn't have any legal or moral recourse, as you got the game, as it was, the day you paid for it, PLUS all the extra features Mojang has since added.

To take one bit from a VERY LONG post...
I want to confirm this. The code freeze was a feature freeze. The idea being that they'd stop adding new things and focus all attention on bug fixes to make the game as polished as possible for release.
To respond to the OP, they do have a deadline. Have you perhaps heard of Minecon? The MineCraft convention in Las Vegas that MineCraft is being fully released at? The convention that was booked months ago, long before this "crunch" was hit, and probably cost them lots and lots of money? Just sayin', just because they're the publishers doesn't mean they can just go "lol naaaaaaaah lets just not release it for 2 more months."

"Hey. See them holes you put in the walls? Fill them back up. Right then, carry on."

This still applies in 1.8. If you leave the right-hand door (from the outside) open, you'll be perfectly fine, but if you close it, you'll get woken up.
Of course, this assumes that there's no other doors between your bed and the double door, like if, say, the double door entered into a foyer, then you went through another door to your bedroom.
