They do when it's extended. You can see it when the piston part is missing (usually when there's some lag on a server).
I'm looking at the piston right now and it has a lighter ring outside the hole, not a darker one.
Jan 22, 2013Guys don't look at the dispensers and droppers, look at the floor in the middle, there clearly is a hole on the top of whatever is there. He probably made something that shoots items straight up. He'll probably call it a popper or something. I doubt it is just a dispenser because the "mouth" is a different shape. Although he could have given it new functionality and retextured the top. Guess we'll have to wait and see.Posted in: Future Updates
Edit: And another thing, when does dinnerbone ever just put up normal pics that aren't snapshot clues?
Jan 10, 2013I don't know if anybody posted this yet but hoppers and furnaces work better together now. The smelted product is emptied by a hopper under the furnace, the furnace fuel slot is filled by a hopper on the left side of the furnace, and the furnace top slot (the material that you are smelting) is filled by a hopper above the furnace.Posted in: Recent Updates and Snapshots
EDIT: I think it's worth saying that an auto smelting setup does come at the cost of no xp from smelting.

I've tested similar designs, and I can tell you that this specific layout doesn't work. Any layout that has a dispenser firing directly into water will result in the firework flying off, but not detonating correctly. I made a design that works with dispensers but it doesn't fire nearly as far because you have to bury the dispenser one block below where it is now and put a sign in front of it. That way it fires into air and still explodes properly.
EDIT: To be honest, both this design and even the one I posted is overdesigned. All you really need is a block on top of a water source, on top of another block. Then just put a hole in the group in the direction you want it to launch. (Diagonals work too.)
H=Block that can be removed to fire in this direction.
It's obnoxiously simple in design.
The design I posted works. I have built it myself and tested it. I would not post info on something unless I have made it and tested it.
Dec 11, 2012I saw something like this on reddit the other day. Their design was different. It was 4x3x2.Posted in: Recent Updates and Snapshots
You can replace the slabs with trap doors and hook them up to a simple redstone circuits to have them open and close to get more variety in the location they explode in.
Dec 10, 2012GloomyGus posted a message on Is there anyway for dead mobs to produce entities? They already produce item entities when they die. I'm sure if you know a thing or 2 about programming java it wouldn't be too complicated for you to mod that into the game.Posted in: Discussion
Dec 10, 2012It will give you more design options for 1. You could have redstone lines intersect and have the option of not having a signal go past the capacitor unless you want it too while still allowing for a signal to go through to a repeater(if you have 2 repeaters on the same line they will both send the signal through unless they are very far apart). If they give mobs different weights (they haven't said they would do this but you can always hope) it may be able to help you sort them in non mobspawner type grinders. you might be able to have a minecart go to different locations depending on how full it may be or what it may contain.Posted in: Future Updates
Aside from any speculation we really just have to wait to see how it will actually function in the game.
Nov 16, 2012Like another poster said, it is good in some ways and bad in others. You just need to put in a little extra work like editing a texture pack or something to change the look of an item and maybe using the anvil to rename it. I would probably just copy the shovel texture over the hoe textures or whatever you choose. Remember you can also change the damage on items now with slash commands so you can make them limited use so people can't completely destroy the world you have crafted.Posted in: Recent Updates and Snapshots

The bedrock marks it as locked. Are you seriously going to complain about a very slight change to a block you will barely even see due to the fact people tend to cover their contraptions, and it will only show if you intend to do complicated redstone, so you will need a marker.
Dude calm down. He just said he didn't like the look of the bedrock. It was barely a complaint. Your reply to him was way more of a complaint then his simple statement. But i do agree with you that it won't really matter because it will be all covered up.
Sep 6, 2012Since dinnerbone mentioned making a new mob he has created zombie villagers, wither skeletons, and the wither boss. I'm guessing the one with no clothes was the zombie villager and it just had no clothes due to being early in his development at the time. Pigmen may still be possible but I wouldn't hold my breath.Posted in: Recent Updates and Snapshots
