Some "Going forward" tips for anybody having this problem:
Tip #1: Learn how use the launcher.
Tip #2: Learn how to manage multiple profiles (this essentially is how to manage version control).
Tip #3: Never, ever *EVER* have a profile set to use "Current Version".
Tip #4: Backup your saves. I do it daily and use a backup utility to do it.
Tip #5: Learn how to create multiple game directories. This keeps saves between versions separate.

Sep 3, 2014Do *NOT* go back to 1.7.10. Unfortunately you're kind of screwed. If you go back to 1.7.10 you'll lose all of your inventory. Best thing to do is to embrace the changes. Also, don't ever have a profile set to always use the latest version. Learn how to manipulate the minecraft directory and how to create different profiles.Posted in: Survival Mode
Sep 3, 2014Personally I'd make a brand new directory in the same location as the main minecraft directory, call it something like .../.minecraft.1.8.0. Then make a new profile that points to this new location, then copy over the contents of your Save folder from the main directory to the new one. But if I pick up on what you're really asking, there is no way to move just the buildings from one seed to a new seed. There might be a hack program that can do it, but it's not possible strictly within minecraft.Posted in: Discussion

It is not *that* hard.Posted in: Recent Updates and Snapshots
Aug 19, 2014I'll turn 49 in November. I have one kid in college and another about to start...and a 3yr old!! I was away from this game for a long time but recently came back (was playing Kerbal Space Program, another highly addicted game).Posted in: Discussion
I've never played this game multi-player, Wouldn't mind trying. Maybe if there was a server for fortysomethings. Mostly I play survival/peaceful, which I call "Survative" mode.

All Biomes within 2000 Blocks #02Silly question, but...what would happen if you tried this seed on the Large Biomes setting instead of Default when created the world? Would it be a stretched out version of this one? Would the Biomes maintain their relative positions?Posted in: Seeds

/fill -10 4 -10 10 20 10 stone 0 replace
Thanks for the reply! I've tried that and I get the error message "Unknown command. Try /help for a list of commands"
Currently there is nothing occupying the space I'm trying to fill besides air. Is that ok?I probably should have mentioned this is with 1.6.4 in SP Creative mode. If that matters.
Jan 24, 2014According to the Minecraft Wiki, I should be able to use the /fill command. Perhaps I am not entering the block argument correctly.Posted in: Creative Mode
For the sake of argument, suppose I am in a super-flat work and I am standing near the origin...I would like to fill the area from (x, y z) -10,4,-10 to 10,20,10 with stone. How would I go about doing that?
The wiki only gives this description. I assume the arguments in the square brackets are optional? Required?
fill <x1> <y1> <z1> <x2> <y2> <z2> <TileName> [dataValue] [oldBlockHandling] [dataTag]
Any help onhow to use this is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have a large-ish tunnel network at the y=11 level. Every 50 blocks along the tunnel I place an orange wool block in the wall as a visual reference as I'm sprinting around down there. Today I noticed some of them are missing. There's just a one block hole where the wool used to be. Any ideas on what is causing this? This is in SSP.
