This is a cool Idea, and has been suggested before but Kinniken said that the villages are already Norman themed, so there won't be indian or Arabic or any theme other than Norman. Sorry.

Well that's too bad, guess I gotta hope for someone else to do it.

Ahh what a huge thread, I hope someone sees my post @[email protected]

Would it be possible to say, add different kinds of cultures that spawn on specific biomes? like, in the desert for example, you'd find maybe an Arabic culture, with a sultan and Arabic-themed architecture and names, or maybe in a jungle by a river you'd find a thriving Indian town, with beautiful ornamental houses and women dresses in colorful saris.
As an Arab I'd love to help out with an Arabic themed town, things like names and sayings.
I love this mod a lot and I think it has a lot of potential by going this way, you could add specific items you'd find in specific cultures, creating a sort of international economies where a Chinese culture would have different resources then a Greek or Inca culture.

Let's pretend they're Welsh immigrants

I looked up alternative names in many different languages and "Dinas Tywod" was the best sounding, so it kind of stuck.

Thanks for all the kind words! Sphinx is nearly finished now, then on to more houses. Gonna be streaming for a while starting now.

You could call it Medinat Al-Rimal, which is Arabic for City of Sand, just a suggestion~

I do love the look of this, as an Arab I think it's a really nice idea and execution for a city :tongue.gif:

    Very late update :biggrin.gif:

    Whats new:
    -Leaves
    -Sandstone
    -Chest
    -More ores
    -Tweaked the half block

Not really sure I like the leaves, but they're just so so hard to do without making look like... not leaves 8(

@leonel: oh, that's actually exactly what I was planning to do with the wool, since it allows for more variety and is easier to get :smile.gif:.
(although I'm not sure if the patterns you picked would translate well in a 32x32 space)

Really nice pixeling so far! If you switch to paint.net, you'll be able to do transparency.

Also, the half blocks are still used by the game! The smooth stone half block uses the unique texture, but the cobble, wood and sandstone half blocks share textures with their source material.

Either way, I recommend making one of the stones in the half block a bit different, otherwise they'll get very repetitive when you stack them.

Ohh, I totally didn't think of that :T, I'll do the second one along with sandstone and the remaining ores tomorrow, and I do use paint.net for transparency, I'm just more comfortable working in paint, been using it for 5 years, bad habit 8(
    Thanks for the feedback :smile.gif:

Cool stuff! Perhaps you can make some of the tiles mosaics, perhaps the metal blocks. A nice aqua tile mosaic for diamond, perhaps gold meshing for gold blocks, a generic mosaic for iron?

Hm, do you mean like making the metal blocks into specific mosaic patterns? not sure I understand.

    Hello!
A while back I was inspired by HagenBraun's Babylon-themed pack (click) and decided to start my own pack!, and not just any generic pack, but one inspired by my cultural heritage, that of Arabia :smile.gif:

Right now, the pack is still in it's very early stages so it really doesn't show what the final version will look like, as I'm trying to get the basic blocks out first then focusing on doing the detailed geometric patterns or the desert weaponry, one thing you should know about this pack is, like HagenBraun's, is meant for use in singleplayer because I plan on changing the wool blocks into specific objects that may not look like wool at all.

    Here is the terrain file:

    and the blocks ingame:

    Working on:
Fauna!, I'm thinking about adding wild grass support, thoughts and/or ideas?
Known issues: I do all my pixeling in paint which caused the water to lose it's opacity, gonna have to fix that down the line.

Not really fond of the mini flag, but it's the best I could do with the tiny frame and light shading :z

Sounds easy enough, although most placeable items don't have inventory icons, for example flowers only have a texture in the terrain file which is used as an inventory icon.
On the other hand signs and doors have inventory icons without textures, so I'm not sure which to do, I'll just do both :tongue.gif:
And one more thing, I'm assuming you want it done in the original minecraft style with the grainy and barely visible shades look?

A little bump for this amazing mod(to-be), I just wanted to say you can PM me anytime if you're short on pixel artists, even though I see you've got two already :smile.gif:
http://www.pixeljoint.com/p/29998.htm for a few old examples of my pixels.)

Good luck and I totally can't wait to start a little Arabian town filled with green domes, high minarets and wooden mashrabyas :smile.gif:

Wow you're pretty good. We don't have anyone who can do in-game graphics if you could help us with that? (AniMerrel just draws pictures and art and 61109 just does NPC skins)

Of course :biggrin.gif:, I'm really interested in this mod, it looks really well thought out and planned, kudos to everyone involved.
