Blocks, Items and Crafting Recipes
Bird Meat
Bird Meat is dropped by all of the birds. Just place the raw meat in a furnace to cook yourself some tasty grub!
Book of Birds
This book tells you about all of the birds in game. It includes their picture, the scientific name and a little caption about them. It can be crafted using a normal book and a peacock feather, like so:
Eggs
Eggs can be found in two ways: collected from nests, or laid by birds. All eggs have a 10% chance of spawning a chick when thrown. This can be increased up to 50% by crafting the eggs with blaze powder, adding 20% each time. Any attempt to increase after 50% will consume the powder, but not increase the chance.
There are also unidentifed eggs. These are black with a question mark on them. To indentify these, you must use the egg sorter. See below.
Eggshell
This item will occasionally drop from nests, and also when you throw any of the bird eggs. It can be used like bonemeal to speed up the growth of plants and to grow flowers.
Egg Identifier:
It can be crafted using the following recipe:
Placing unidentified eggs in the top slot and redstone dust in the bottom will result in the eggs being identified. This is not always successful and may produce eggshells.
Incubator:
The incubator can be crafted using the following recipe:
Placing eggs in the top slots and blaze powder in the bottom will level up the eggs. This machine allows the spawn rate to go all the way to 100%! It works on multiple eggs too!
Nests:
Probably the most important part of the mod. You will find these nests sitting atop leaves in your world. Breaking them will drop 0-3 different bird eggs and some sticks. Empty nests can be crafted using the following recipe.
You may right click on the nests to open the GUI.
Peacock Feather:
Dropped by peacocks, these feathers can be used to craft the Book of Birds.
Phoenix Dust:
This dust is used to create a phoenix egg. It can be found as a rare item in abandoned mineshaft chests. One is dropped by a phoenix upon death.
Phoenix Egg:
Phoenix eggs are used to hatch the mythical phoenix. They require a light level of 9 or above to hatch (a flame particle effect will appear when the light level is suitable). These can be found as a rare item in a monster dungeon, extremely rarely found in nests, or crafted by surrounding a chicken egg in phoenix dust.
Phoenix Feather:
Dropped by a phoenix upon death. This feather does not yet do anything.
This mod requires the latest version of Minecraft Forge which can be found here: Forge Download. You then drag the .jar file into your mods folder, just like you would with any other mod.

Well, let's bring this back with some creature ideas.
Coatis: Small raccoon-like animal with red fur and a long tail held upright like a flagpole. Spawns in groups in savannas and jungles. Can be tamed with fruit, insects, and/or eggs.
Monitor lizards:
- Megalania: A massive cousin to the Komodo dragon, with reddish-brown scales striped with red-brown. Roughly in between a grizzly bear or polar bear on all fours at shoulder height and longer than a crocodile, these huge creatures live in the savannas, red mesas, and rarely in deserts - they deal a hell of a lot of damage and inflict slowness with their attacks, making them extremely dangerous foes.... and useful mounts.
- Silawik dragon: About the same size as a Komodo dragon, but slinkier and sleeker, maybe a bit longer, and with a pale straw-yellow coloration with a brown line down the spine and similarly-colored stripes branching off from it. Spawns in savanna biomes.
- Perentie: Slightly smaller than a normal Komodo dragon. Spawns in deserts.
Antelope: Fast-moving herding animals that live in various biomes and flee from players that get close like zebras, best hunted with a bow and arrow. All of the animals listed below drop leather and antelope meat (Fills as much of the hunger bar as pork, but drops is pretty decent amounts). Maybe they can be lead around with sheared grass?
-Thompson's gazelle: Roughly the size of a goat, one of the fastest examples. Spawns in savanna.
-Springbok: Very fast, in between a cow and a sheep in terms of size, able to leap great distances. Spawns in savanna and red mesa.
-Bongo: Beautifully-colored antelope that's more solitary than the others. Spawns in jungles.
-Blackbuck: Males will attack the player for a fair amount of damage - say, one to one and a half hearts. Spawns in plains.
-Dorcas gazelle: Fairly small and plentiful, only dropping one or two items, either meat or leather, never both at once. Spawns in savannas.
-Saiga antelope: Quite stocky, making loud noises. Spawns in extreme hills.
-Klipspringer: Very tiny, able to climb very well - maybe it can walk up blocks like a spider? Spawns in extreme hills.
-Grant's gazelle: Spawns in savannas, maybe red mesa biomes. Males can attack like the male blackbucks can.
-Lechwe: Attacks are about as strong as the blackbuck's. Spawns in swamps.
-Hartebeest: Fairly large - maybe it can be ridden? Spawns in savannas.
-Wildebeest: Moves in large herds, often hunted by lions and other predators. Spawns in savannas.
-Gemsbok: Attacks for 1-3 hearts of damage with each attack. Spawns in savannas and/or red mesas.
-Blesbock: Spawns in hill biomes.
-Roan antelope: Spawns in savannas.
-Dik-diks: Tiny antelope about the size of rabbits. Spawns in savannas and jungles.
-Sable antelope: Attacks are as strong as a gemsbok's. Spawns in savannas.
-Giant sable antelope: Can be ridden like a horse after being fed enough wheat to tame it. Spawns in savannas.
-Addax. Spawns in deserts, males will attack like some of the other antelope will.
-Scimitar oryx: Spawns in deserts, very rare.
-Gerenuk: Has a custom animation where it rears up onto its hind legs. Spawns in savannas.
-Giant eland: Very large, able to attack for 1-3 points of damage. Spawns in savannas. Can be ridden.
-Greater kudu: Attacks like the giant eland does. Spawns in savannas. Can be ridden.

It's been a long time, hasn't it? Well, no time like the present to start anew. As of now, I'm bringing this thread back.
First off, an idea for goats:
Instead of destroying items when they eat them, they should have a 'digestion' timer - aka how long it takes for that item to be destroyed. Dirt, seeds, and other organic items aren't affected, but metal or diamond materials take quite a while to digest. If you can kill the goat before that timer is up, you can get your stuff back, albeit a bit damaged.
Second, I would like to submit a two-part suggestion: first off, to have different types of big cats have slightly different stats (Tigers have more health, leopards can climb easier, cheetahs are faster, etc.). And second, I would like to suggest that jaguars be added as part of the big cats. They'd be in between lions and leopards in terms of strength, and mainly found in jungle biomes, as well as very good at swimming. Gotta have your murdercats, man!
Come to think of it, why not add a couple of extinct cat species? I know just the two for the job:
-Cave Lion: In between a lion and a tiger in size and strength, these guys live in taiga and tundra biomes, with shaggy brown-and-white coats.
-Smilodon: Largest of all big cats, even exceeding tigers in size, these tawny giants are big enough for an extra chest to be put on them, and they do extra damage against big animals like elephants and mammoths. Can be crossbred with other cats to make bigger saber-toothed versions of those cats (Including a literal sabretooth tiger)
In addition, the sabre cats would have a couple of rare species:
-Shadesaber: Either spawning in the dark forest or made by giving a Smilodon an Essence of Darkness. Charcoal grey in color, these guys are totally silent when they move and can leap great distances to take down prey. They also inflict blindness and, rarely, wither on their prey.
-Snowsaber: Shaggy cold-dwelling subspecies.
-Hellsaber: A giant among giants, these titanic predators are the largest and the deadliest of the special sabertooth subspecies. Found in the Nether, their fur is a bloody crimson in color, striped with obsidian black like a tiger. The forelimbs are considerably larger than the hind legs, and a mane of fur runs from the back of the head down to between the shoulders, while a long, thin serpentine tail constantly lashes through the air behind the creature. Anything it hits catches fire, and it's extremely tough, taking no knockback and being immune to fire and wither effects.
Looks a lot like this in terms of its body plan, but with bulkier forelimbs and darker coloration. (Credit to image goes to McSlackerton)
Next, some subspecies for crocodiles:
-Nile crocodile (Current one)
-Cuban crocodile (Rare, slightly smaller than normal crocodile, more colorful)
-Saltwater crocodile (Largest crocodile variant, found on beaches and in oceans)
-Dwarf crocodile (Smallest variant, found in jungles)
-Freshwater crocodile (Fastest one of them all on land)
An alligator would also be cool. They'd be darker in color and a bit smaller than regular crocodiles, as well as with a shorter, blunter snout. They'd primarily be found in swamps, but they do have a subspecies: the cave alligator. Pale clammy greyish-white, larger than the average alligator, and with no eyes, these creatures would be hyper-aggressive, with higher health than regular alligators, but being intolerant of light (They flee from it; would need special coding)
Perhaps as a subspecies, they could have caimans; smaller and less aggressive than regular alligators, they would be found in jungle biomes.
Also, maybe give crocodiles a proper swimming animation. At the moment, they look really weird when they 'swim'. Ooh, maybe they could leap out of the water to snatch birds?
But what would crocodiles be without a giant subspecies? Introducing the Ticktock. Rare to the extreme, this gigantic crocodilian is based on the crocodile of the same name from Peter Pan, as well as the real-life giant croc known as Gustave, an immense Nile crocodile that has killed more people than any serial killer in history, and the prehistoric crocodilians Crocodylus anthropophagous and Crocodylus thorbarnarsoni, two gigantic prehistoric crocs that lived alongside -and preyed upon - early humans. One and a half times as large as a saltwater crocodile, this monster reptile has several unique attacks - it can ram with its snout to destroy boats and knock back players, whip its tail to attack those trying to kill it from behind, and chomp away with its massive jaws. When killed, it drops a ton of crocodile leather, the bones and rotting flesh of its prey, and a small fortune's worth of gold nuggets from when it devoured an ancient treasure chest, as well as, rarely, a clock or two.
The next idea I have is for rhinoceroses. Big, burly animals only exceeded in size by elephants, these savanna herbivores are neutral, but they're also territorial - get too close for too long, and they will charge you. Despite their size, they can move quite quickly, and they don't take knockback. Can be tamed with a shitload of wheat, although young ones can be tamed with apples (Good luck getting it away from momma, though). Once tamed, you can saddle them and put chests on their backs, as well as special coverings for the horns, like with elephants and their tusk armor.
Three subspecies exist:
-Jungle rhinoceros: Smaller than the normal rhino, will flee rather than fight, but will attack if cornered. Found in jungles, based on Javan rhinoceros.
-Durer's rhinoceros: Covered in bony metallic-grey armor, found in extreme hills biomes. Lots more health, lots more damage.
-Woolly rhinocers: Largest of them all, found in tundra and taiga.
Next: An idea for werewolves
There are actually lunar cycles in Minecraft - maybe werewolves could get a strength or speed boost during full moons and a debuff during new moons?
Also, a note for zebras: Maybe they could spawn in the savanna biome more frequently than regular horses do?
Next up: Giant slugs!
You can never have too many giant insects, and the caves need some more cuddly things. The giant slug is there to solve both problems! About the size of a cow, these guys are ridiculously slow, but they're versatile: they can climb walls and even ceilings easily, and their soft bodies mean that they don't take fall damage and they can squeeze through one-block-wide holes. When killed, they drop slugflesh (Gives nausea when eaten raw, but when cooked, it's quite filling), slimeballs, and slime sheets - stick it onto the side or bottom of a block, and you've got essentially an upgraded ladder. Thanks to their sticky bodies, slugs don't need a saddle to be ridden: just right-click on them with a leaf on a stick (Crafted like a carrot on a stick, but with a leaf block or sapling of any kind instead of, well, a carrot) and you're good to go! Going too slow for you? Give the slug a piece of sugar (Maybe a sugar cube?) and its speed increases by 25%, maxing out at about the same speed as a Tier 2 horse (Takes a ton of sugar, obviously.) Also, when you're attacking these guys, there's a low chance that your sword will get stuck in the slug's flesh, wrenching it from your hands. The weapon will drop when the slug is killed, but it can still be very irritating.

I know that an update's on the way, but I'd like to leave these suggestions anyway.
Horseshoe crabs: Living fossils that spawn on beaches.
Trilobites: Basically a bottom-crawling equivalent to ammonites
Mawsonia: A nice big fish for the Sarcosuchus and Spinosaurus.
Parasaurolophus: This mod has yet to have a single hadrosaur in it. This needs to change.
Corythosaurus: Same reasoning as above.
Edmontosaurus: See above reason. Plus, it would be a good food item for the T-rex.
Chalicotherium: These big lovable guys would make good, if a bit weird, additions to the mod's lineup of mammals.
Deinocheirus: This guy's so weird, it has to have a place in any suggestion list for this mod!
Protoceratops: A rival to the Velociraptor, and a smaller, cuter version of the Triceratops.

How about some stone carvings?
2
Ooh, how about this mod?

Um, the Wendigo from those sources isn't actually very similar to the one from the legends.

At first glance, you probably rolled your eyes when you saw this. "Oh, look," you probably thought to yourself. "Yet another Jurassicraft ripoff with no progress whatsoever being made on it." But appearances can be deceiving: welcome to the Primordial Land: A dimension where time stands still,
Getting to the Primordial Land
OK, that welcome is a bit early: you still need to get to the Primordial Land dimension first. How do you get there, you ask? Simple! All you need to do is find an Ancient Temple, a structure spawning in jungles that at first glance looks very similar to the vanilla jungle temple. But instead of the usual traps and treasure, the Ancient Temple houses a large statue-the Victorian Sculpture. Looking like a much smaller version of the dinosaur statues that were built for the Crystal Palace, these statues-which can be picked up and moved elsewhere-are activated by tossing two Eyes of Ender onto them: don't use them, just throw them onto the statue. The two orbs will fill the empty eye sockets of the statue, allowing it to activate. Now, simply right-click the statue with an empty hand to be teleported into the Primordial Land!
Terrain
The terrain of the Primordial Land is essentially that of the stereotypical lost world, with swamps and jungles covering most of its surface.
List of biomes:
-Primordial Swamp: This biome is covered by large trees that block out most light, leaving only small clearings of sunlight shining onto the ground. Ponds and lakes dot the swamps, and the ground is thick with mosses and ferns. The main animals here are dinosaurs, giant insects, a few carnivorous plants, and primordial aquatic beasts.
-Primal Jungle: Very similar to the Ancient Swamp, the Primal Jungle has fewer waterways than the swamp, but is much more dense with greenery. Trees twice as large as any giant jungle tree grow everywhere; the ground is cloaked in moss, ferns, and grasses; and the understory is composed of trees, giant mushrooms, tree ferns, and dozens of other large plants. The main species here are dinosaurs of immense size, as well as carnivorous plants and a few large mammals.
-Timeless Depths: The seas of the Primordial Land are home to massive sea monsters, sunken ruins, and forests of immense kelp. Some of the largest creatures in the mod live in this biome, and sailing across it is a risky endeavor.
-Prehistoric Plains: These large, open areas are covered in short grasses and ferns, constantly trimmed down by the many large animals of the area. Large mammals are fairly common here, but large dinosaurs also roam this region.
-Volcanic Mountains: Tall mountains composed of dark volcanic stone, the Volcanic Mountains biome is an imposing place indeed, with lakes of lava on the peaks of the mountains and large cave systems honeycombing their interiors. This region is home to a multitude of flying reptiles, and even a few immense apes.
Mobs
(Note: none of these images belong to me. They are creatures that I want to base the mobs of the Primordial Land off of.)

(Mod version would have more armor plating down the back)
Health: 25 hearts
Alignment: Neutral
Attack strength: 4-6 damage
Spawns in: Primordial Swamp
Drops: Dinosaur hide, dinosaur meat, dinosaur tooth
A colossal crocodilian predator, megalosaurus are amphibious predators that hide underneath the surface of the water, bursting out to attack passing prey. Slow-moving on land, it is possible to put a megalosaur to good use: if it is somehow lured into a moat or an ocean, it makes an excellent way to stop monsters-and rival players!-from approaching by water.

I can't wait to see what this mod will turn out to be! Personally, I want to see the creation of entirely new creatures with genetics, maybe even combining the ecology aspect of the mod to create entire artificial food webs! It would also be cool to see prehistoric animals being recreated with modern animals' DNA-things like ankylosaurs made from armadillo and turtle, chicken-dinosaur hybrids, tyrannosaurs made from crocodiles, monitor lizards, ostriches, and kangaroos, etc.

Full support! Villages need more love (And if you ask me, more types of building)
If you want, I could design a couple of new wells.

I have some ideas for the mod:
-A giant weta the size of a sheep: farmable?
-Some of the creatures from the spider pit from the King Kong 2003 remake (They'd fit really well).
-A dragonfly boss that's literally half-insect, half-reptile (Would be an extremely fast, agile mob; fires small fireballs at a rapid pace that do little damage, but come at you extremely quickly).
-Peacock spider: A brightly colored spider that is passive to the player, instead adding the injection of dancing spiders to this mod that it so desperately needed.
-Crocodile-sized olds that lunge out of the water to attack both insects and players.
-Enormous frogs and toads; can be tamed and used as an extremely unusual mount.
-Bulldog ant: Deadly jaws that can easily take down unarmored players.
-Japanese giant hornet: Larger, more dangerous version of the current hornet.
-Crazy ant: Small, fast-moving ant that can deal a lot of damage extremely quickly.
-Degenerate: An emaciated pale white humanoid greatly resembling the Rake; lacks eyes, ears, or a visible nose; hooked claws on the hands and the digitigrade feet allow for climbing walls and quickly traversing terrain; attacks by either leaping out or dropping down from a ceiling-no fall damage-and biting with a mouthful of razor-sharp teeth and swiping with its hand claws; a ritual of some sort could be done to temporarily turn into one.
-Bullet ant: Small, solitary ant that does massive damage with its bite.
-Stag beetle: Smaller cousin to the titan beetle that attacks with its massive mandibles.
-Earwig: Has a more elongated tail than the real one; curls it up over its head and uses it to strike like a scorpion.
-Scorpionfly: A deadly flying predator.
-Killer bee: Small and weak individually, but are lethal in large groups.
-Arthropleura: A neutral creature that rears up like a cobra to attack players; venomous bite?
-Earthworm: A giant passive worm that can be hunted for meat.
-Naked mole rat: Live in a large hive with boar-sized warriors, who sport large, sharp tusks on their lower jaws; smaller workers, which lack tusks like the warriors but have larger forelegs with huge curved claws; and the massive, corpulent queen.
-Aphid: A small herbivorous insect; can be farmed.
-Cone snail: Strikes at players with its venomous proboscis-thing.
-Sea scorpion: Has one pair of claws like the Pterygotus, and one pair like those of Megalograptus.
-Bobbit worm: Immense worm monster that bursts out of the ground to bite with its immense jaws.
-Sea cucumber: Wormlike creature that spews its guts at you; causes nausea?
-Water spider: Aquatic spider that drop air bubbles; these can either be consumed to get extra air or can be crafted into an aqualung, a large bubble-like device that is equipped in the chest slot.
-Sea pig: Lives at the bottom of aquatic areas; can be farmed.
-Vampire squid: Latches onto players and starts draining blood (I know it doesn't do that IRL, but it was too good an idea to pass up)
-Hallucigenia: A bottom-dwelling animal that rolls into a ball when confronted by predators, exposing only its long, venomous spines.
-Isopod: Essentially, it's an aquatic beetle.
-Anomalocaris: Grabs players with its tendril thingies before inflicting damage.
-Opabinia: Attacks quickly with its trunk like mouth.
-Mantis shrimp: Spearers slice with their claws, smashers just punch the crap out of you.
-Giant water bug: Apex predator of the Erebus' rivers.
-Hagfish: Eel-like animal that turns the water around it into slimy material; it eventually converts back into water, but touching it gives you nausea and poison effects.
-Giant spider crab: Can be mounted for use as a climbing mount or hunted for its delicious crab meat.
-Trilobite: Large armor-plated bottom-dweller; can be farmed.
