I'm not expecting the reader to be a battle hardened veteran by the time he reads this thread. What is this thread supposed to teach you? How to bake cakes?
The battle hardened veterans who can do stuff with tnt, cannons mob grinders, etc have the biggest advantage at the war, and thus, he goal is to make the reader a battle hardened veteran.
Also, would you write a letter to the makers of a calculus book saying, "What if we don't know the basics of algebra?"
There are many places you can learn about mob grinders and redstone. That's how you get better at minecraft. Not just by running around, building, and mining, but by going through discussion of the game which talks about how to accomplish certain feats within minecraft's physics.
Maybe in terms of minecraft the discussion of this thread is more advanced, but there are plenty threads out there that have the details of redstone and mob grinders.
The thing is, If you can't work with the physics of minecraft, people who can will beat you. The physics are the glory of this game, and people do not realize. It annoys me that 90% of the people treat this like an MMO with a lego set. All they do is cut trees, mine, build houses, kill monsters, and stop there.
But there is more to this game. You can do anything that the game's physics allow you to, as opposed to other games where every possible thing to do was put in the form of a direct command by the maker of the game. But minecraft has a physics like the real world, in which everything is the raw effect of a cause. You can put something down like water, and it will act on its own, and anything that falls in its path will be affected by it.
Minecraft is one of the few if not the only game that allows you to manipulate. To put a set of events in action that ends up doing something in your favor. That's how things work in real life, and in that sense, minecraft is more realistic than any other game regardless of its graphics or infinite water springs, etc.
There isn't an arbitrary recipe for a tnt maker that requires x iron, x sulfur, x lava, etc. You arrange a set of natural events. Creepers then happen to spawn in the room you built, in which they happen to walk into the stream you put, which happens to lead to a thin sheet of lava. The lava kills the creeper and the sulfur happens to fall into a stream which happens to lead to your home. That IS the most original part of minecraft and too many people just ignore that.
Spon, I see you are wearing the sig, nice. I...uh...forgot how to link pictures to sites... post code pwease?
Gil, I am not some random random! I am actually quite qualified to "lead" this clan.
And yes, VIROS was reading this. Good for him, good for him.
He just was here after your posts on CoM. He does not appear to intent to want to join.
Excuse me, I've been watching this topic for a few pages. I'd hate to see this clan fall apart mainly because I like this clan. But you guys do realize in the last 12 pages, you've made little progress in anything but recruit a few members? You're putting your energy and resources into castles wars which won't really help you guys in the long run. Sure it's fun, but you need to build yourselves up first. I don't know what you're doing behind the scenes, but I can see from the KoA, a clan I'm very active on, that you're not very big at all and not making much an impact.
We don't need to race against the clock. Our power is rising slowly, no doubt. Slow and steady wins the race. Too fast, and we get torn apart by people like you, Paradox.
You need to assert your power more into gaining more people rather than dealing almost everyone. Pirates have the basis of being powerful in numbers, not abilities. If you have a crew of 50 normal fighters rather than 5 good ones, the 50 will win based on sheer numbers. Also, just because someone makes a bad application doesn't mean their bad. For all you know they could had been rushed to do something else and in reality they're GREAT fighters. Your idea of basing people's talents of their application, which is kind of limiting, is not really fair at all.
Our battle strategy isn't to Zerg rush, Paradox, and it never was. Don't pretend. The 5 will always win because all the 50 will die in a very foolish way.
I like the idea of castle wars, pretty cool way to bring your clan together. But why put your time and resources in it? I understand it's fun, but it won't be good for your clan. You can win the event, but no one will be the impressed because you're suppose to win because you're pirates. Or you could loose and show how bad you guys are. I don't see where the advantage clan wise is, but hopefully you have a back up plan.
It'll make people grow on us. Members of KoA and even just bystanders will start to like us if we make our presence known and if we... Show off?
Anyways, I know I'm not part of this clan anymore, but I'd like to see it continue to grow. These are just my opinions, many of which I have. I have a feeling you guys are going to scream at me to leave, so I won't bother posting my opinions on getting on the right track anyways. But I hope you realize that some of the upper KoA members do have a certain hatred for this clan specifically (I won't say who). I suggest you make a benefit to the KoA rather than just plan this event.
I always take to the oddest phenomenons to study. Especially in the subject of mechanics. I do believe I'm a specialist. An example, when 1.3 first came out, me and Spon started a project of how to make some music. (Yes, we're partners in crime science.) He did all the wiring, but I messed with the tune blocks themselves. If I'm not studying something bizzare, I'm a mechanic just like Spon. I suck at wiring however, but I'm not hopeless (Unlike Tomandgreen. So don't make him the wire person.).
EDIT: This was about GLaDOS's (That's the secret green labs account person's nickname. Nothing you can do about it. So deal with it.) comment about me not being a specialist.
Oh, and I think that Steamgunner looks okay. Not that I know him.
I AM ZE UBEREDIT: Also, I was head Engineer in CoM's Hellcarver project. That was an old project that never came about because until recently you couldn't get into the nether in MP. They didn't know that so it sucked when we never got to do it. Anyway, I was looking for ways to run cannons and the such to defend against Ghasts in the nether. See what I mean about weird projects?
I think the main problem with Warp Speed is the massive generator used. It'd be a lot more powerful if we could make it run without a whole mob tower. Also, the being of which contains multiple mobs stuck together (I call it a demon.) contained could have some other use.
AoW is really starting to get a community. I think that server would be perfect for our generals to unite and put their money where their mouth is and put these strategies to the test!
