Compatibility fix is in for the next version of Thaumic Tinkerer. I'll need to test other forms of enchanting too, to see if there's more holes to plug
I tried it out and I was correct, it's indeed the ores. If you aren't going to add it to the mod (which is of course understandable), I'll just put those lines into my add-on
My add-on is basically a small recipe cross-over between MF and Cogs of the Machine. The plan is to create a base experience which you can then put Thaumcraft 3 or a similar end-game mod on top of. Since my friend and I plan to use TC3 as end-game mod, I might include a few tweaks to fit in with that mod too.
And again, great mod man, we're enjoying it thoroughly. Have you seen that Martysgames did a mini-series on your mod and that he added it to his new TC3 LP season? Should give you some good publicity
I just looked, you don't add the ores to the ore dictionary, only ingots. That's the issue it seems. I think Cogs looks in the ore dictionary for ingots, ores and wood, not just ingots.
Pounder doesn't recognize copper, silver and tin ore, but should. If I use the Cogs of the Machine configs to set default ingots and such, it complains that the ore dictionary values are not correct.
I'm planning on making a little compatibility mod that adds a few recipes, so I'm looking into all of this.
EDIT: I looked, you added the ingots, but not the ores to the ore dictionary.
Odd, they don't seem to interact correctly with Cogs of the Machine. I'll look into what's causing it, double check the ore dictionary values and keep you posted. Might be an issue on Cogs' side, I'll find out
Hey man, loving the mod. I'm making an add-on for MineFantasy and noticed you're not using ore dictionary for your ores and ingots (or am I mistaken?).
I really loved your explanation of Mythril (I love trying to figure out myths and get to the truth behind them). Unfortunately though, it just doesn't pan out.
"but not in tools (chisels, sickles, knives) where the latter may be expected to come under stress during their working lives. Tests conducted on laboratory manufactured pieces show these alloys to have poor mechanical qualities (highly brittle) whether cold or hot-worked / annealed."
While there seems to be evidence of swords, it's clear that it was probably a deliberate alloy made for decorative purposes in one region in Central Europe.
"Arsenic ores are more common than tin ores, and make high-quality bronzes: there are no tin bronzes in Western Asia before 3000 BC. Arsenic bronzes do not cast as well, but are as hard as tin bronzes. The choice between arsenic and tin bronze may not have been easy, even when it became available."
So, arsenic ore is about on par with tin-bronze, with some sources I found giving the favor to tin-bronze, but harder to cast and toxic. Tin ore is better, but very rare and never near copper deposits.
Combining the two is only theory and I don't see how it would accomplish anything over regular tin-bronze. I would LOVE for you to provide some counter-arguments, as I do really like the idea :). Do you have any evidence that antimonical bronze is not just extremely brittle, but also strong for example? They are not quite the same thing and very important.
I think that the strong point of this mod is the golden tools focus. Making golden tools useful, but with different gameplay challenges is brilliant. I'd personally love to see you clean up that part of the mod to perfection.
As for the experience buffer, I like it, but I'd like it to be more involved than just a book, however costly it is. Maybe something that is hard to store?
I imagine experience storage blocks that store, say, 10 levels worth of exp. If you have more than 1 level of exp, it drains into the block, until you have 1, if you have less than 1 level, it drains out of the block into you, until you have 1. Adding multiple blocks together in a certain range makes it stack. So, if you make a room with 30 of these blocks, they will equalize your level to exactly 30. If you are over 30, experience drains into the blocks, if you are under, the blocks give you experience.
That way, you could set up rooms for 15 levels, 30 levels, whatever and run inside to equalize your level to that.
Thanks Gil. I very much appreciate the above given our history.
Hey man, I still check up on this thread and the forums whenever I can (which is not a lot lately). It was all tons of fun while it lasted and I think we got a good haul out of it (with a sad ending unfortunately). That doesn't diminish my respect for you as a game designer (nor as a person really).
So yeah, it's not because we have a history that I don't feel sad when an obvious ex-member starts attacking you out of nowhere during one of the better moments of this thread's life.
And like everyone else, I'm psyched as hell for RTH
